Tuesday Tidbits...
I heard we were supposed to get some rain, but I;m not seeing it. There IS a heavy coating of DEW on everything, though.
I know I'm getting tired of walking through our yard and constantly having wet feet (even through the shoes).
Hopefully, the rest of the week will be dry, as they're saying it will be.
Our Hoosierland weather today will see us with partly cloudy skies and temps into the upper 70s.
Could always be worse...like the heat wave back in Philly, or that drought in L.A. that was quenched by some rain and turned into FLOODING (they can't seem to get that happy medium out there in "The Land of Fruits & Nuts", can they?)
In the meantime, let's all get a cup or glass of our morning drink and set off to see what has been going on...
*** First off of the turnip truck is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?"
July 21 -
I messed up and put today's events yesterday...I gotta get more sleep.
(a near impossibility down here)
So here are yesterday's "goings on" today (a day late and probably a dollar short)
---Okay, TODAY is NATIONAL JUNK FOOD DAY
(sometimes, good things ARE worth repeating...heh.)
Yesterday (which will be today) was UGLY TRUCK DAY
He's got a sweet taste for sh*t!!
Well, some say you are what you drive...lol)
---And, it was NATIONAL LOLLIPOP DAY
(so go suck it)
---It was also GET OUT OF THE DOG HOUSE DAY
(well, there go all the illegal aliens in town...LOL.)
I don't need to get out - was never in there to begin with.
---And, it was MOON DAY (no cracks, and yes, that was an intended pun)
Have fun playing "catch-up", courtesy of me being fatigued.
I had to ADD the 46th anniversary of the FIRST MOON :LANDING at the end of yesterday's post, as well...missed that, too.
*** Next up, is our salute to stupidity (not mine, though...lol) in the Summit City as we look into ALL the shots fired and armed robbery calls the media NEVER lets us in on:

============================
Guess SOME people just cannot read a damn CALENDAR...can they?
*** Next up, we still have these "newspaper woes", with the carrier somehow being UNABLE to find our damn TOP STEP.
They ain't pretty, but they don't move.
Funny, it's right where it's ALWAYS been...we don't take it in at night to keep it from getting stolen.
And we leave the front light on all night (mainly to deter burglars) so he can SEE the damn steps when he delivers (?) the paper.
I do call into the Journal-Gazette EVERY SINGLE TIME, too, so we're playing this game now (one I intend to win).
It's not as thought EVERYONE down here even GETS the damn papers...we're one of THREE in the immediate area that get home delivery in the AM, so there's no reason or excuse to NOT follow directions (that we had in place with the paper for YEARS).
My feelings are if you don't want to do the job PROPERLY, then don't do it at all, and move on.
*** Next up, two women were shot over the weekend.
Here's the story link:
(scroll down past the 3 arrests at the TRF...it's there, trust me)
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/Three-Rivers-Festival-led-to-3-arrests-7838103
Naturally, it took place on the SE side, and once again, at the Eden Green Apts (aka "The Viullages At Hanna Townhomes" - whatta bullshit name).
A woman and her family were in the apartment in the 300 block of Holton Ave.
An off-duty FWPD officer working security there heard 6 gunshots in the area of Pontiac and Holton.
Dispatch then received a call about a person being shot, and when the female officer responded to the call, she found a woman holding her arm on the front steps.
Another woman inside the apartment was also hit.
I think you know the answer.
Two children were sleeping ON THE FLOOR and more children and "some adults" were upstairs when they heard shots. The door to the apartment was closed and locked.
Now, MAYBE the attempted rape (see yesterday's post) was more like an ASSAULT and MAYBE the woman attacked was related to the ones shot at, and MAYBE the beat-down was a retaliation...way too many questions surrounding this one. It just seems tpo damn coincidental (to me).
But, I'm sure the FWPD is investigating the HELL outta this, as opposed to patrolling more to PREVENT this kind of thing from happening...right?
*** Next, If you've been following this blog for a while (and who hasn't? Well, LOTS of people actually)...you know that I've spoken about a HEROIN problem in Fort Wayne.
Well, it seems OTHERS are finally catching on to this disturbing "trend".
(coulda found out a lot sooner if they followed my posts)
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Heroin-becomes-growing-problem-7838754
Yep, heroin is becoming cheap and popular here...who'da thunk it?
And it's a much PURER form (dubbed "fire") than in times past, leading to 3 deaths by overdose in a 12-hour span this year.
In 2009, FWPD V/N (vice-narcotics) seized 43.23 grams of "horse" (as we used to call it back east), and that number DOUBLED the following year.
In 2014, 157.3 grams have been taken off the streets, and local police assisted the DEA in seizing 8 "keys" in a federal case.
I think it's still a drop in the bucket, though, given the apparent ease of supply from parts south of our border.
And here we're talking about a needle exchange program...like THAT will "help" with either sales OR addiction (it won't).
The fallout from this type of drug use is a surge in HIV and Hep-C, and both can be spread to others without the use of needles - it just gets a damn good START with them.
The story says how daunting a challenge this is to public health...and public safety.
Gee, 'ya think?
*** Last back to the bunker...all of these things (and much more) are the result of a society that embraces permissiveness,,,sometimes to the extreme.
Freedom is fine and liberty is to be valued...BUT...when people are never taught the difference between making good choices and bad ones, jails fill up fast, and people also die along the way.
One might view this as a form of "Social Darwininsm", and to some extent, I'd run with that.
What is not mentioned as much, is all the ancillary "fallout" from such criminal or illegal activities.
Innocent people wind up "in the way" of the perps, or the families, who have nothing to do with criminal behavior are pulled into such things, totally without their consent.
All crimes rise in the wake of drug use, sales and abuse.
You can never outlaw ALL drugs...we tried that with alcohol...went over like a pregnant pole-vaulter.
So, we learned to live WITH alcohol, with certain regulations and restrictions, but not a ban...and for the most part, it has worked better than bootleg hooch that killed people.
This isn't to say that other drugs should be condoned.
To render people impaired to the point they harm others is never an option in my book
This is a problem that's been with us for a LONG time, and shows no signs of going away.
Our job has to be that of halting the flow OF the drugs TO those selling it, and to prosecute to the maximum those same people.
The war on drugs isn't a skirmish, but we often treat it as such, and that's no way to win the entire war.
It always comes down to CHOICES...doesn't it, no matter what side of the "battle-lines" you find yourself?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I think maybe an old experience I had might tell you how much the JG cares about your complaints. Years ago when I lived in rural America, our carrier decided he couldn't be bothered to get out of bed in the early morning like he should (as he WAS delivering the MORNING paper. One day I had enough and left a note informing him that if he couldn't deliver when he was supposed to, I would cancel my subscription. He delivered the paper to the mailbox, pulled away. Actually backed back up, threw something in the box, drove away. His note read, "Go ahead and cancel." Never got another paper, never got a refund. At a certain point, you have to just tell them, "Go F yourselves".

O know...this is deplorable.
Wonder if the MAYOR ever has such problems?

I could also always go UP the ladder at the paper and botch a fit.

We're not asking for much - just that which we pay for.

I've also thought about waiting UP for the jerk, and tell him IN PERSON.
That might scare the crap out of him to see me come OUT and confront him.
Always options...options I should NEVER have to employ, right?

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.

Stay safe up there, brother
