Believe It...Or ELSE...
Welcome to the IDES OF JUNE (okay, so according to the missus, the "real" IDES of June were on the 13th...big, fat hairy Roman deal - it's close ehough for goverment work), and with it comes another journey into the slightly surreal...the unabashed, unashamed, and the highly incomprehensible. (gee, that sort of sums up my neighborhood pretty damn well)
We've got some tidbits out there in news land that just HAVE to get you wondering the age old question:
"Whiskey - Tango - Foxtrot - ????"
There are those items that have you thinking what on God's green earth is going on here...I know. I say the same thing.
So let's jump right in and get this sideshow on the road, shall we?
*** Indiana might have to "change" it's voyeurism laws...
Imagine someone used a hidden camera to take some upskirt pictures of your wife, your daughter, or even granddaughter, and the perp doesn't get accused of voyeurism...sound fair?
Well, that might all be changing (in favor of the victim...at last):
(( FORT WAYNE, Ind. -WANE - State senator Tom Wyss is once again calling on lawmakers to pass an anti-upskirt law now that prosecutors might not be able to charge another Indiana man accused of filming up womens' skirts.
David Delagrange of Fort Wayne was arrested at an Indianapolis mall in February for allegedly videotaping up womens' skirts with a shoe camera. He was charged with voyeurism, resisting arrest, and child exploitation.
Now, those voyeurism charges are pending while prosecutors look over Indiana's current voyeurism law.
Last year, News Channel 15 discovered a loophole in that law when an Ashley man was accused of taking pictures up a girl's skirt with a cell phone. The Dekalb County prosecutor said she could not press voyeurism charges, because the law only covers dwellings and places where a person is expected to disrobe.
Since then, Wyss has tried to update the law. "What it shows you is there are people out there that do these kinds of actions and they are sick," said Wyss. "And we need to address both their sickness as well as have something to try to deter them."
Earlier this year, he introduced a bill that would've made upskirt pictures and videos in all places a felony, but it didn't even get a hearing. Wyss said the legislature wouldn't look at a bill that would add a cost to the state.
With the Delagrange case up in the air, Wyss thinks it will persuade lawmakers to take the bill seriously.
"I think that I'll probably get support out of Indianapolis legislators now," said Wyss. "It certainly showed down here the legislators in Indianapolis that there was a problem."
))
THIS is a perfect case of what happens when technology gets in the wrong hands and gets away from us.
Let's hope for JUSTICE sake, this passes without a hitch.
*** The "around-the-world" sailor is "just a commodity"?
Seems the father of 16 year old Abby Sunderland is pretty much broke. having spent a lot of moolah funding his daughter's attempt to sail around the world solo took it's toll of his bank account.
In the interim, he sold the rights to her story for a "reality show".
Way to go, "dad"...guess love of one's child DOES have a price.
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/06/14/sailor-abby-sunderlands-dad-signed-reality-doomed-voyage/
Now, dad is DENYING he did it (of course he is).
The family lives in Thousand Oaks, CA, and is a bit of a curiosity. being rarely seen by neighbors.
Still beats what I have living around ME.
*** This following article has got me torn between being really sad and kind of creeped out.
http://www.cbs6albany.com/articles/charleston-1274784-born-little.html
(( A kitten with two faces has been born in Charleston, West Virginia.
The cute little critter has been christened ‘Two Face’ and is so far doing well despite the odds being stacked against him. Two Face was born on Tuesday (8th June) and was part of a litter of six kittens all of which were perfectly normal besides Two Face.
The condition which caused the kitten to have two faces is known as Diprosopus, a craniofacial duplication caused by a protein called sonic hedgehog homolog. It isn’t the result of embryo splitting, like so many other two headed or multi-limbed animals, the condition actually causes a second face to develop on the skull.
Vets have warned that little Two Face may be unable to suckle properly, but his owners are hoping that withthe proper care the kitten will survive and grow into a two faced cat.
))
I mean this is rare, and the cat will have to endure special treatment.
I guess what really bothers me is all the notoriety connected with this.
This certainly isn't the FIRST cat to be born with this condition, and surely won't be the last.
Then again, it IS West Virginia.
*** Finally, some thoughts on the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
I was watching HUCKABEE on FOX, and I saw some fantastic measures that could have prevented eco-damage to our coastlines. Some really novel stuff out there.
But after over FIFTY days of spillage, everyone involved is only NOW deciding to "try" some things.
Some folks along the Alabama coast took matters into their OWN hands, and placed barges along a bay as an artificial "breakwater", and then placed booms behind the barges (land-side) and they have not had ANY oil come onto their shores. They had the governor's blessing by doing so.
Obama wants to kick someone's ass...maybe he should be playing in the FIFA cup championships, then.
I can't really blame BP totally. There is plenty of blame to be "divvied-up" here. Let's not piss off ENGLAND more than this administration already has, shall we?
Let's look into the contractors that BP bought equipment from. Let's check out the people who didn't see "the big picture" of a worst-case-scenario (which we currently have).
And let's pursue any and all avenues when it comes to protecting the coastlines and waters in the Gulf.
Screw the EPA and their namby-pamby approvals with all-natural oil dispersants and collective methods.
The EPA is what is holding up a LOT of this technological improvements anyway, right?
And gee, wasn't it the EPA that forced oil-drilling SO FAR off shore, as to basically ALLOW such a catastrophe to be set into motion in the first place? Is it not easier to contain any type of oil spill when it's a lot closer to shore, where we can actually GET to the damn leak and plug the freaking thing?
We should have had a leader that was willing to do (and try) any method within the realm of possibility to slow or even halt the oil bubbling up fro the depths.
Perhaps, it's time we look (once again) into the inventive spirit of this great nation. Maybe we should not fear those who have a better idea, and build a better "mouse trap".
So soon these politicians forget that it as AMERICAN INGENUITY that created SO many of the ideas that became SO many of the things we take for granted today.
And if there is one thing any of us can take away from this, it's that when it comes to SOME people...memory can be VERY "selective".
Time to change that mindset in these people.
We, the people can do and accomplish anything we set our minds to...we've proven that many times before.
The bureaucracy needs to be told that...loudly, and often.
Therein lies the lesson for today.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

I've been so fascinated by the story of Abby and her family. It's interesting what goes on in a lot of families out there.

While I do admire the spunk this 16 year old has displayed, it bothers me to think that, as a society we thrive on such things as "the balloon boy"...and now this.

Sixteen IS a might young to be taking on something of this magnitude.
(yeah, I'm old-fashioned)

And to even think of dad wanting to exploit the journey isn't right.

Allowing one's child to be placed in a situation like this can't be all that cool.
But, to each his own, I guess.

Hey, thanks for swinging on by.

Dear Bob,
I'm still trying to formulate my thoughts on the Gulf Oil slick. Thanks for helping me clarify.

And,
if I ever caught anybody filming up my skirt with their shoe, I know exactly what would happen to that camera and their face, their shirt, and a couple other areas too.

I mean, Whiskey Tango is right! I feel sorry for the girl and the cat. I predict (along with you) that the freak show is just beginning. . .

Have a great day! A post full of the wow! My blood is pumping now!

LOL,
Ann T.

Happy to be of service.

Truth can be a wonderful lubricant whenever my mind gets "stuck"...LOL!

The cat deal still bugs me (must be my St. Francis complex showing), but whenever I think about CHILDREN who are born with physical or mental handicaps (Downs Syndrome, for example) we don't arbitrarily euthanize THEM,
(as some societies around the globe are privy to do), do we?

In America, the parents of such special children know it's a substantial challenge to raise them, and yet WILL look upon them as a blessing as long as these parents have them around.

Yeah, I know...I think WAY too much for my own good.

Life is just too short and too precious to fritter away or dismiss, don'cha think?

Thanks a lot for taking time to stop on by today.

well i think it was about a year ago that upskirt man was down here. at that time, in the news it was pretty much said that there might not be anything to charge him with. there was a lively talk about it in the break room and we pretty much agreed that he had to get pretty close to get the pics. the grown women in the pics should have ripped him a new one in the mall right then and there. and that goes for the young ladies too. i mean who really goes to the mall and lets some man stand next to her. let alone a creepazoid like he looks like.

the oil spill pisses me off.alot of blame for the blame game.

two face freaks me out. i've seen ytube videos of cats like this before. hopefully the cat wont die of starvation or something to that.

and the 16 year old sailing around the world. ALONE. that pisses me off. wtf where the parents thinking. i mean i would let her probley go sailing (if we were a sailing family) but, i would be there on the scean in the cabin or something. there would be some kind of way out. i'm sure she is bitter that her folks even let her get into the mess that happened. my heart went out to her alone in the ocean with noone knowing what was going on.

You do realize that we are in SO much agreement here, right?

DO you think the world can handle the BOTH of us thinking the same thing?

And then...there are all the rest of this blog's (fine) commenters who ALSO think likewise.

Wow...looks we might have a MOVEMENT on our hands!
Look out world..here WE come!

LOL...hey, thanks for stopping by.
have a great day.

A GREAT post--really.

Amen right back at ya on the oil spill...

I have a cat with extra toes, polydactyl cat or Hemmingway cat, not an uncommon defect. Other then her big feet, she is normal in every way. This is sort of creepy to look at...I just hope the little critter never suffers for the owners' fame and fortune.

I can understand the desire of kids to stretch boundaries, but dad bankrupting the family to have his kiddos do this sailing thing? I detect loose screws.

Finally, the "peeping tom with camera"--I'm with Ann T. here. You go, girl.

Strong work!

T.O.:

I was talking to the missus yesterday about polydactyl kitties...and there 'ya go.
Bet'cha love that cat-to-death, too.

I really appreciate it whenever I can echo the sentiments of so many others out there.
I must be doing something right.
It just makes sense to me.

And, I'm just one voice "crying in the wilderness", as it were.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
