A soggy end to the week here in the "Heartland", and a ton of stuff to chat about, so let's get right into it, shall we?
*** Item - Yes, friends, BLOGGER is STILL f*cked up to no end... No matter WHAT *I* attempt to do, it just defaults back on IT'S OWN...no intervention necessary (how IN-convenient).

God, I love when people go and "change things"...especially those things that need absolutely NO CHANGE AT ALL.
So, bear with me if posts are later than usual...AND the look of the blog might differ slightly.
I run Internet Explorer (think it's IE 8...could be 6, might be 9...I don't know and don't care at this point), and I know most of you probably use ANOTHER browser.

Well, I have NO control over that (nor would I ever wish to), so the only thing I will try to accomplish is to make the damn posts READABLE...period (at least for the time being).
I know I won't be able to please everyone in every nation upon the planet, but it's NOT even been MY fault in the first place. Hang in there, people...maybe it will sort itself back out the way it screwed itself up...we can only hope.
*** Item - Government to SHUTDOWN...!!!
*** Item - Government to SHUTDOWN...!!!
Oh, no..it's the apocalypse!
Run for your lives!
Head for the hills (and not the TV show)!
Bring in your children, Martha, and hide in the closets!
(( *rolls eyes* ))
Nah, it's not a big deal..."they" just WANT us to THINK it is, so they can garner SYMPATHY for those hacks in D.C. When I worked for the Treasury Department (Division of the IRS - INFERNAL REVENUE SERVICE), we ALSO went through such a "shutdown" (and during the REAGAN years...imagine that).

Many of us were "considered non-essential personnel" and basically got some "time off WITHOUT PAY"...while the upper-echelon staff were KEPT on AND paid in full (they did a lot less than we did, trust me).
This inflicted "sabbatical" lasted all of ONE WEEK, so filing for U/C was a laugh and a half.
We were even "instructed" NOT to file, as the paperwork wouldn't even get through the system before we were called back.
And in THAT aspect, they were correct.
So, the taxpayers waiting for those refund checks didn't suffer long. That was during a better economic era, though.
A LOT better.
Still, with this bunch of shrubs in D.C. acting like a pack of spoiled brats, one would THINK they'd be MORE concerned with the PEOPLE who elected their sorry asses, than with their partisanships and their egos....
And ANYONE who STILL believes we CAN spend our way out of this mess has GOT to be on some street-level pharmaceuticals...seriously!
*** Item - That brings me to food costs.
*** Item - That brings me to food costs.
Milk is up around $2.50 a gallon now.
Ground beef is climbing the cost ladder as well.
Just try and get a pound of ANY cut of beef for UNDER $3 these days (unless it's only 75% lean).
And you can forget about finding any of that "government-approved" HEALTHY food...the best you can do at most every store is GET AN ESTIMATE!
(kinda like home repairs...)
It's all due to those OPEC-ians.
Thank THEM, as well as those wheeling and dealing the oil FUTURES on WALL ST.
Britain should have NEVER given those nations back to it's native people...period!
And we SHOULD have let Patton attack Moscow!
Things would have been a lot better in the long run.
*** Item - The Wifey mobile came back in good repair, except for the side mirror.
The repair shop gave us the address of a place that can actually SAVE us money and fix the thing (hopefully). Now, I have to say that when cars were a LOT simpler to maintain and repair, *I* didn't have the level of angst that I currently enjoy with "mechanics" today.

I'm STILL driving the Firebird with NO A/C because I can't seem to find anyone that can turn a wrench PROPERLY and get the damn thing running right for more than a damn week!
And this has been the better part of TEN+ YEARS! Used to be a time when all you had to do was DESCRIBE the problem or sound the car was making, and the man running the repair shop KNEW...EXACTLY what the hell you meant...and fixed it RIGHT...the FIRST TIME.
Gone are those days, it seems.
Makes going to the shop a real crapshoot...like a LOT of other things.

What I find funny as hell, is that those local-yocals in my ghettohood have NOT, I repeat NOT been driving LESS.
If anything, it's been driving MORE.
Didn't know the government was giving out GASOLINE VOUCHERS these days...did you? Of course, the "data" does NOT include RESIDENTIAL STREETS (thought so)...that explains a LOT.
Guess we can add THAT to the HOUSING vouchers...and the CELL PHONE minutes vouchers, and the FOOD vouchers (and obviously, the BOOZE VOUCHERS, because they are NEVER at a loss for ghetto-swill).
Today, we got $40 bucks worth of gas for the Wifeymobile..and that was close to TEN gallons only (price was $3.89 for REGULAR)!
I see more ghetto-sleds tooling about to all hours than ever...gas prices ain't bothering THOSE people much.
*** Item - Glenn Beck to leave the 5PM slot on FOX. Here's the official release from Glenn: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/beck-explains-his-transition-like-paul-revere-you-have-to-get-off-the-horse/
I love the analogy he makes with Paul Revere... You have to both know history AND the reason behind Revere's ride (which did not turn into a lifelong venue).

I agree with Glenn on this.
Consider the rigors alone of doing a DAILY show plus everything else he does...and placing a "target" on his back by revealing the TRUTH to the American public...the man is as close to being TRIPLETS as anyone I have even know...he does SO damn much.
And I don't begrudge him his wealth...he's EARNED it...overcome some pretty heavy OBSTACLES in life to do so, and is doing the right thing WITH his wealth (John Huntsman, Sr. is a damn fine role model).
So, whatever Glenn decides to do, I believe it will always be in the BEST interest of THIS NATION...her people, and what this country STANDS for (as per the founding fathers).
He's got a LOT of folks in his corner cheering him on, and I know I'm one of them. I have learned MORE in the time he's been on TV, than I have both in school AND out of school over the last 40 years!
Beck is a good educator that tells it LIKE IT REALLY IS...and mostly by QUOTING what OTHERS have already said (and try to deny).
Brilliant showmanship on Beck's part.

Wouldn't want it ANY other way...the TRUTH is just that...THE TRUTH. I wish the best for him and his family in the future.
With all that said, I wish all of YOU a fantastic weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and as always...
Stay safe out there, America.

If the government shuts down we shouldn't panic it will only affect the programs that are NON essential. Which is what we are trying to accomplish in the 1st place.
I,too, am missing the blue border in Firefox, but I can read it and that works for me.
About your car a/c. I live down here in Podunk and we have a great little service station with top notch mechanics. They do a bang up job. Do not gouge your on price. I recommend them highly. If you are interested shoot me an email. They kept my old car running for years.
MSN:
(imho) I'd say about 75% of the government is NON-essential...LOL.
The MILITARY has to stay in place, though.
BUT...Not defunding abortions(which IS really gov't funded MURDER via Planned Parenthood) IS kinda COUNTER-productive, and a colossal waste of taxpayer money.
As to my car's A/C?
I'll have to think on it.
I need 2 front seat belts that need fixin', too.
(they pull out...and STAY out)
Be nice if they MADE them right in the first place...'ya think?
Thanks for taking time to stop on by today. I know it's raining out...lol.
Still have the blue border here with IE (whatever version).
But the backgorund is closer to that "parchment" color now.
Have a great weekend & stay safe down there.
The government shut down. Interesting talk around here about that. Milk at 42.50 a gallon? I wish. Try $3.89 here. Diesel just went to $405.00. Beat me.
Momma Fargo:
First off, I would never in my right mind raise a hand to you, EXCEPT in friendship (or a "high-five" for nailing the TEN RING with the entire mag...!)
Can't believe milk is SO damn dear where you are!
($3.89? where's all the damn COWS?)
Diesel was never really "cheap", either, but those that went and BOUGHT vehicles powered by that go-juice MUST be finding THAT out by now...Heh!
Here's a helluva solution to better fuel economy...
Make cars BASIC.
You want ALL that power crap and other gadgets?
...make them an OPTION (the way vehicles USED to be).
You pay EXTRA for it, and if the car (or truck) EXCEEDS a certain weight...you get TAXED for it "being over"...simple, huh?
Lose a few hundred pounds getting rid of all that gear, and a lighter car is one that gets (wait for it)...BETTER MILEAGE!
But hey, it's not like I know ANYTHING about any of this. (Nah...it's JUST COMMON SENSE).
:)
Hey, thanks for taking time from your weekend to stop on by.
Have a good Sunday.
Roll safe out there.
If the the all soldiers in my town didn't get paid for a couple weeks...the town would shut down.
seriously.
Wrexie:
Tell 'ya one thing...I sure wouldn't wanna be the one who honks off ALL those guys and gals in uniform... with GUNS!
Thanks for stopping on by today.
Stay safe out there.
