I'm sure you know EXACTLY what that refers to, and we'll be discussing that in a few moments, but first, we've some other things that require our immediate attention.
Today's Heartland weather is as good as it gets this MORNING. Expect temps to fall throughout the day from a current high of just above freezing to the middle twenties...sorry, folks, that's about it. not much in the way of highs and lows.
We've another day or so of "nice" before we start heading into the deep-freeze next week, so prepare yourselves NOW.
*** First up, is the answer to yesterday's Motto Of The Week:
"Our work is the presentation of our abilities."
This was said by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, a German writer, artist, poet, and politician. (could use a man of such talents in office THESE days)
Born 28 August 1749 (same day as my DAD - just a different year...lol) and died on 22 March 1832
Many of his poems were set to music by such notable composers as Ludwig Von Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, and Gustav Mahler.
His interest was drawing in his early life, but he also became quite the legal expert as he grew up and studied law in Leipzig.
Probably his most notable work here in the USA was FAUST.
The original play is still performed in Germany and other places across the globe.
Goethe also wrote several works in the scientific realm, with several works on morphology and color theory. He also possessed the largest collection of minerals in ALL of Europe.
He dabbled in the sciences of evolution and linguistics, as well as philosophy.
Truly, a renaissance man.
And here is his rather lengthy WIKI to prove it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Wolfgang_von_Goethe
I just want to know when he HAD THE TIME to do all of this stuff...WOW!
Good Lord...these days, you'd have to be TRIPLETS to do as much as he did.
Talk about a BUSY fellow.
Clearly, his abilities were numerous and well-received.
Moving on...to the saga of our dear "Captain, oh, captain..."
*** Captain EO gets busy signing not 1, not 19, but TWENTY-THREE executive orders (they're calling them "actions" now) yesterday in a ceremony replete with four children as his political human shields (gimme a high-five).
Talk about a propagandist photo-op...!
Anyway, here is a list of the actions "to be taken" along with MY comments on how I see it. =====================
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
(Those federal agencies should have been DOING this, and I believe they have...for decades. And why do we need a FEDERAL background check? Is this JUST for the criminals or for EVERYONE, "Big Brother"?)
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
(So doctors will HAVE to hand over any information relevant to behavioral issues with patients, opening up a litany of lawsuit potential FOR those doctors - no more doctor/patient confidentiality...gonna jack up premiums, AGAIN, I think.)
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
(Again, they should be doing this ALREADY, and in many cases, they HAVE been doing this...a non-issue)
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
(And who is making sure that OUR guns don't "slip through the cracks" and into MEXICO? How do you "categorize" individuals, and what is the basis FOR such determinations? Sounds a bit fascist to me)
5. Propose rule making to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
(Doesn't this belong in the Department of Redundancy Department's files? - Another non-issue)
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
(I think that MOST all the FFL dealers already KNOW how to do THEIR JOBS, and those that do NOT should be the ones the FEDS check out thoroughly, and close down in required.)
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
(The NRA does that ALL the damn time...and they don't have problems with such things with their members)
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
(These are ALREADY In place, too. More wasted time and money on these items Another non-issue)
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
(Why the need to do this if you're NOT ALREADY DOING SO? Local law-enforcement does it. Again, more FEDERAL involvement down on the local levels)
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
(That won't help when a gun is stolen from someone that should NOT have one in the first place. Responsible gun owners who DO get robbed DO report such thefts to authorities. Another case of over-redundancy)
11. Nominate an ATF director.
(Uh, shouldn't you have done that about FOUR years ago...and if not, WHY not? That's totally on YOU, Captain EO - next time, try a POST-IT NOTE!)
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
(This needs to be done at the LOCAL LEVELS, and not through federal intervention...LAW-ABIDING people KNOW what they have to do and don't need another "hovering nanny".)
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
( How about a MANDATORY prison sentence for gun-related CRIMES...oh wait, many cities have ALREADY done that, too. Maybe we could trump it up to a FEDERAL crime like bank robbery - which is usually performed WITH a firearm anyway...more redundant redundancy)
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
(What does the CDC have to do with GUNS anyway? Makes about as much sense as appointing the FDA to look into people who use SAWS to cut down fruit-bearing plants. If we're talking LEAD poisoning...hey, any way you drop a perp is fine with me, otherwise, butt the f$ck out!)
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies. (Why don't we allow the PRIVATE SECTOR handle such innovations, because anything the government gets it's fingers into seems to go down the crapper?)
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
(Obamacare gets into the firearms limitation business...we knew THIS was coming. Doc can "turn you in" just like people did in Orwell's 1984, lest THEY come under scrutinty from the regime)
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
(Won't the ACLU have something to say about this...regarding CIVIL RIGHTS and PRIVACY of people? Sure sounds like a possible lawsuit pending)
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
(So that means tossing money we don't have for programs most all schools ALREADY have in place, right? Man, you folks know how to WASTE money.)
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
(Local law-enforcement and first-responders ALREADY play out such scenarios in conjunction with federal agencies like FEMA and DHS. Another non-issue)
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
(Obamacare TELLS the states what they HAVE to do when it comes to an illegal health care venue that was forced upon everyone. Didn't know the FEDS were into making people purchase ANYTHING?)
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
(More Obamacare tendrils intertwining among the mountains of rules and regulations already stuck under our noses.)
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
(Now WHO determines who IS nuts and who IS NOT? I thought the DOCTORS did that. We need some FEDERAL agency to tell the docs WHO IS and WHO IS NOT now? And where do we draw such lines when it comes to SEVERITY of a mental "disorder"?)
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
( I wouldn't trust a single syllable that comes out of the mouth of Sebelius...OR Duncan. They're just Democrat hacks kissing the ring of "the anointed one". More control by people that have no business doing so, especially when it comes to guns)
============================
So there you have it...ALL the crap that's sure to back up every gun-owner's toilet in America.
The majority of these EOs are something we HAVE IN PLACE...so why mandate it again...and WHY get the FEDS to involve themselves with the states. As I recall, the STATES have the power...not the FEDS, when it comes to INDIVIDUAL liberties and freedoms.
This is NOT A HEGEMONY, and maybe someone ought to tell Captain EO that. There is little that I really agree with here, but then again, I'm one of those folks that obeys the law, stays out of trouble, and yes...OWNS guns!
(along with several versions of the Holy Bible, thank you very much)
So why pick on gun-owning people like ME, hmm?
-- When I went to (then) H&H Firearms back in 2003 and got my 9mm, they (naturally) ran a background check on me...not a problem.
I've been fingerprinted before (when working with the U.S. Treasury Dept), and that's no big deal for me, either.
It took me ALL of less than TEN MINUTES.
The check came back cleaner than the white room at NASA!
(as I knew it would)
When I got my 12 gauge pump shotgun at Dick's a couple years after that...same deal, and it took even less time and no fingerprinting.
And when I purchased my PT145 at B&H Firearms in 2009, I breezed through THAT check, too. (helps to have a LEO with you...lol)
So, there's "nothing on me", and I prefer it that way.
-- Curiously, there is this big gig over MAGAZINE CAPACITY...
I don't have a dog in that hunt, but I'm NOT for banning ANY such items.
Both my pistols can only hold 10 rounds in the mag, and if I can't hit what I'm aiming at with THOSE, I best be pretty damn BLIND!
Then again, having 10+1 (in the chamber) rds of .45 ACP is a DAMN good equalizer, you have to admit. Most all standard .45s only carry 7+1 rds max.
-- Now about having 30 rds for "hunting"...consider THIS:
The standard round for most all AR-style rifles is a mere .223 caliber (5.56mm), That's SMALLER than an AIRSOFT BB (6mm), yet larger than a steel BB (4.5mm) but it DOES have a LOT of powder behind it, making it as lethal as it is.
Still, the NATO round is only slightly LARGER than a standard .22 plinking round (in size).
There are some rifles out there that are being considered for this "ban", with the ONLY difference being a PISTOL GRIP (ergonomics), no matter HOW MANY rounds the magazine might hold.
It's the exact SAME rifle with or without the grip, but ONE would be banned...the other would not. Go figure.
This prime example is the (shown above) Benelli MR-1 rifle..,comes in two variants - one WITH a pistol grip, and one WITHOUT.
One will be banned, and the other will not.
-- Regarding LETHALITY, there's THIS to think about:
A Ruger Mini-14 fires the EXACT SAME ROUND, and will NOT be banned (unless it has a PISTOL-GRIP).
This determination is purely random and wonderfully ambiguous at best.
But, that's the way the Dems work...ambiguity, deception, obfuscation...all hallmarks of their rhetoric. PAY ATTENTION and read between their lines.
*** In the final analysis, this is as much about GUNS causing crime (and death) as flies causing garbage.
It's about CONTROL...of the many (and yes, that includes the law-abiding) by the few.
(elitist and hypocritical as they are)
And YOUR job is to protect YOUR freedoms...YOUR liberties, and YOUR rights as set forth in our founding documents.
Tyranny might have a place...someplace else, but NOT on OUR shores, and certainly not anytime soon. That is something you can take to the bank.
We should never become a nation of victims...too many have given all to secure and maintain that much for us...and our future generations.
We need to remind ourselves of that.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

We shoulda just got together and did one combined post on the "big 23", huh, Bob? We almost even did the same one-liners! And if its this obvious to a couple of clowns like us...
So our doctors are gonna be snitching on us now, eh? Nice. This dude creeps me out like no other politician ever has. And I HATE politicians.
As for this gun ban mania that's bee going on recently, I've never seen a more focused propaganda effort in my life. Outright lies being sold as facts, and a media that refuses to question them. Hell, if anything, they're the ones putting them out there in the first place. These be dark times indeed.
CWM:
All I really have to say about it is:
"GREAT MINDS think AND POST alike!"
Right?
((When did you find out I was a follower of EMMETT KELLY?))
Hey, thanks for stopping by today and reading something similar that you also posted about.
Stay safe (and synonymous) up there.
John D.:
Yeah, our own SAW-BONES will be a FIFTH COLUMN for our "Fearless Leader"...how cool is that?
(It's NOT)
I agree that most ALL of this crap can't even QUALIFY AS PROPAGANDA...it's TOO "in your face" and totally INCORRECT!
Propaganda is meant to "ease" you onto someone's side by SUBTERFUGE.
Hell, THESE mooks can't define it OR spell it, let alone practice it.
Thankfully the lame-stream media is AS STUPID as those putting the lies out there by repeating them and slobbering all over 'em.
Makes it a LOT EASIER to pick out the DUFFUSES in THAT crowd!
Still, I DO get tired at times shouting at the TV, or at a story in the newspaper.
The battlelines are being drawn up, make no mistake.
Glad we're on the RIGHT side (and are more numerous than the others can imagine).
Thanks for rolling on up today and commenting.
Much appreciated.
You stay safe out there.
You got to love the government's version of "doing something." Lets spend tons of money reviewing gun safety literature and make sure the warning are printed in 86 different languages. Then we can hire 86 new specialists to support our effort.
I can hear the sucking sound from my work check getting louder and louder.
Slamdunk:
I THOUGHT that "sound" had a familiar ring to it!
I'd consider asking the government to go into the SEWER business, but they're already waist deep in BS, and they can't ahndle railroads, banks, or car companies as it is...nopt to mention balance a damn budget, so why bother, hmm?
Seems the REST of US are miles ahead of them there.
Must be "job-security" for some of them somewhere, though...STILL on OUR dime.
Thanks for swinging by today and commenting.
Stay safe out there.
