Welcome to the midweek crisis known as Wednesday, friends...
And it looks like we've got some ground to cover, so let's have at it.
The Hoosierland weather today will be sorta-kinda like yesterday...got some rain around the area, but not AS much as the previous day, which means you don't know when a shower will happen, so plan accordingly.
Temps with reach into the lower 60s, an we might see some late day sunshine...
Now, with that behind us for the moment, let us pour a nice soothing cup of our favorite morning beverage and see what ELSE is going on around this wacky planet...
*** First up is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"There are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we erect ourselves."
In today's world, such words often fall on deaf ears, and not enough people take this to heart....so WHO said this?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in the nation's capital...
*** And we cannot forget our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
October 15 -
Today is WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY.
So, if you see a blind person with the cane help look out for them.
Whiskey - Tango - Foxtrot! |
In D.C., one hand ALWAYS washes another. |
Moving on...
*** Next up, our weekly look at ALL the shooting that happen around the Summit City that YOU never even hear about:

*** And speaking of SHOOTINGS, there was a "three-fer" south of downtown at 546 Pierce Avenue (near Fairfield) early this morning.
Here's the story link (so far...don't expect much).
http://wane.com/2014/10/15/three-people-shot-near-home-on-pierce-avenue/
Two men and a woman was injured by the gunfire and several shell casings were found. It appears as if the men were the shooters, although police ARE looking for another suspect..
Both were taken to hospital, with one in serious condition, the other in fair condition,.
The woman suffered a "through and through" and declined treatment (nice souvenir). She is also believed to know one of the men.
*** We're hearing all sorts of things coming from this Ebola outbreak...and a lot of them are outright LIES.
Like we heard Obummer say that Ebola "won't come here"...and it DID.
He also said it "would not spread"...and it HAS.
But this story is really "out there"...
It seems that some erroneously think that the NRA is to blame for the Ebola outbreak...
((...rolls eyes...))
That's right, you heard me correctly, and here's the story link to prove it:
http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/sick-joke-msnbc-and-states-united-blame-nra-ebola-crisis
MSNBC and States United (gun control group) are apparently trying to "upstage" Calypso Louie (Farrakhan) when it comes to blaming the wrong people for something...or anything.
And talk about some seriously FLAWED LOGIC...man, that takes the cake.
See, the NRA was opposed to the new surgeon general's appointment (and this guy was a big obamadonor plus was an advocate to RESTRICT 2nd Amendment rights...in the name of "public health", mind you)
Not hard to see the whole.picture when you know how to piece together the puzzle, right?
*** And now...for something completely different...
A NEW feature here...something I like to call your "ONE-MINUTE CARLIN".
And here we go:
(( Why is it the pile of dirty clothes is called "the laundry"?
"I'm about to do the laundry."
Then, when it comes out of the machine, it's STILL called "the laundry"?
"I just did the laundry".
What's the deal here?
Is laundry CLEAN or DIRTY? ))
*** Last back to the comic club...every day we see evidence of people who haven't a clue in life, and couldn't even get one if someone was giving them the hell away.
Then, there are those who are so perceptive with life...see things as they are, or even see things others do not (or will not).
I'd like to believe I'm in that latter group, because I'd sure hate like hell to be clueless in life, especially in THESE times.
I think many of you have thought along similar lines, and that's nothing to be ashamed of, although there WILL be people who would tell you otherwise...
Screw them (not in the literal or sexual sense, naturally).
They're the people that have difficulty finding their ass with BOTH hands.
The sad part is that some of these people run our nation.
Being a vigilant person is a practical application of caution these days...a form of situational awareness.
And this extends beyond our homes into what those in power try to tell us.
We need to learn for ourselves, question that which seems out-of-place, and continue practicing the discernment to know truth from lie and right from wrong.
That is the path we should tread upon as citizens of this nation, and if we're having trouble finding it, we need to check our (moral) compass from time o time.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America

Okay, I have a guess on the quote, but I'll wait and see how far off I am.
Can't be as far off as those who blame the NRA or other conservative groups for their OWN mess ups.
And the WTF moment- back in another life, I remember we saw a hanging road sign on a traffic light wire with holes machine punched into it. I noted that was so blind drivers could reach up with "the Braille stick" and read it. Never thought I'd actually see one, though.
And Carlin? I'd say that one goes to a society so lazy as to not use the qualifiers "clean" and "dirty". George would have had a field day with TODAY'S society.
Chris:
Here's hoping your quote guess will yield TWO in a row...
-- I could NOT believe those picking on the NRA for Ebola...guess they're gonna blame global warming, Kennedy's assassination, and the Vietnam war on the NRA next.
-- I once saw a PARKING GARAGE (in Philly) that had BRAILLE signs at the entrance/exits...made me wonder WHO was driving and parking there in the first place.
-- I think Carlin is STILL relevant (if more than a tad irreverent), and maybe the "one minute" each week will prove it.
(the only laundry that REMAINS DIRTY is that mentioned in that song of a similar name, hmm?)
Glad you stopped by to comment today.
Stay safe up there.
