Welcome to a wonderfully snow-covered start to our week.
Looks like we got another 2-4 inches on top of the three inches we got last week.
Here in the Hoosierland, if you think today will feel MILD in comparison to last week...you're right, but DON'T be fooled.
After a high today of just below freezing, the bottom will drop back out of the thermometer, and we drop to around TWO DEGREES.
And, it will stay cold for the better part of this week.
We might even see the sun peek out later today. THAT should make the roads so much better(not).
In the meantime, let's get a nice big cup of piping hot Monday fortitude poured as we see what's been going on since last week.
*** First off of the bobsled track is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
January 12 -
--Today is NATIONAL PHARMACIST DAY
(not to be confused with "street pharns" and those selling such wares).
Looks like I might need to raid the medicine cabinet later on...to "ease the pain"...OR, a shot of bourbon might work JUST as well.
---It's also NATIONAL CURRIED CHICKEN DAY.
Sorry, I like my chicken served in a normal manner...like CHIK-FIL-A.
---And, it's NATIONAL MARZIPAN DAY...
Mighta had it, didn't really like it, - don't really want it - 'nuff said there.
--It's also NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY.
And if you're fortunate enough to even HAVE a desk, well, get to it...lol.
The rest of you...don't sweat the small sh*t.
*** Next up, we had ONE plow truck come through early on when the first snow event hit last week...haven't see another damn truck since.
Only our sidewalk was clear. |
Now, while the main streets were relatively clear (we did go grocery shopping on Saturday), the REST of the residential streets were marvelously appalling.
I'd bet Mayor Henry's street is NICE and CLEAR. Hell, I'll bet Glynn Hines street is also clear.
Thing is, when all the main arteries are clear, you still have to GET to them, right?
If a side street has not been plowed, and has cars parked along them (because no one ever tells residents to MOVE the cars so plows can get down the streets...OR tickets those who don't comply), it makes going a mere two blocks the most dangerous part of any trip.
And when a plow DOES come down your street (here), they fly by SO fast, tossing up a "rooster-tail" of snow back onto a clean sidewalk
We had them a damn YEAR AGO... |
Moving on...
*** Next, we're going to change up a bit, and toss in those SHOTS FIRED calls for the first week of the new year:

==============================
And, as usual, the majority occur in MINORITY areas of the city...amazing, isn't it?
*** Next, the show of solidarity in Paris over the latest terrorist attack SHOULD instill some sort of sense of pride in how nations CAN come together.
So, WHERE is the USA??? |
The UNITED STATES did NOT have a real showing in this march over the weekend.
THIS is how much I care about the United States. |
So, we sent the VP? Nope...Gaffin' Joe was not sent over there
What about our own Secretary of State John Kerry?
Well, since he can't protest the Vietnam War any longer and toss his medals on the Capitol steps, he was ALSO not to be seen in Paris.
SO who DID we send?
And where is the president? MIA, that's where. |
That makes damn near ANYONE who was someone in our hierarchy pretty much M.I.A., does it not?
Pretty damn pathetic showing for a MAJOR world power, isn't it?
We know Putin wouldn't come, but he's a loose cannon and a major commie to begin with.
Cripes, we had Benjamin Netanyahu arm-in-arm with the PALESTINIAN leader...haven't seen anything like that since Sadat shook hands with Begin in the 1970s! But NO Barry Obummer...well, since he can't even bring nimself to CALL these terrorists WHAT they really are, can we honestly expect him to represent WE THE PEOPLE properly?
Hell no.
He's too busy locking into "free" education (for all those illegals who are being given driver's licenses for OUR country) along with all the other assorted crapfests he can executive-order his way into "law"...such a traitor to the AMERICAN WAY.
*** Last back to the snow-pile...our president has seen fit to "fundamentally transform" this nation, and he's doing a decent job of screwing things up.
And, it's only taken 6 years...
The SAD part to this, is that no one held him accountable for his rhetoric, his ideologies, his blatant disregard for the laws of this land, and instead sat back and did little to nothing to halt this socialist agitator and community-organizer as he ran slipshod over the values and principles that made this country great, all the while feeding us bullshit and expecting us to believe it was sirloin steak, smothered in onions .
Fortunately, there were those of us that knew better from the start, while others caught into his plan shortly after that.
If anyone thinks that what this man-child does in the Oval Office has little bearing on us, who are a lot farther down the "food chain" - the people shoveling their driveways on snowy days and clipping coupons to save a few bucks at the store, you're very wrong.
YES, I AM THE DREAM... |
Thing is, he's been too busy admiring the paint job he's done on that floor, that he didn't see that CORNER sneaking up behind him.
Now, with this latest thing about NOT being at the Paris march against Islamic terrorism, there is no way out for him.
Aw, F$CK...can I blame Bush? |
(or they damn well SHOULD)
And it's up to us to make sure that the world doesn't soon forget such an affront.
WE can make that happen, and we should, because our country need not be called or even referred to as an ignorant outcast.
Drive safely out there this week. Take care going outside.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I feel like today is both National Curried Chicken Day and National Pharmacist Day because you're going to need a whole lot of meds after ingesting all that hot curry! My stomach aches just thinking about it!
Also, I can admit I drank the Kool-aid when Obama first took office. I thought he was gonna change the world. Now he can't even morally support our allies in a time of need. Yeesh.
Funny how our Prez -- Mr. "International Consensus" -- couldn't be bothered to show up in Paris. I guess he'd rather appease our enemies than support our allies. Oh well, not my fault, I didn't vote for the guy.
ABFS:
LOL...I hadn't thought about the COMBINATION of those two today...
(As The Stomach Turns)
Avoid it like the plague.
I also had hopes that he COULD become a unifying influence...but, it wasn't that long after he took office (within 6 months) that I could see the graffiti on the wall, as it were.
You're not alone there, believe me.
We just caught the "schmutz" being tossed earlier than a lot of others.
Hey, thanks for braving the weather and stopping by to comment today.
DO stay safe out there.
John D.:
Can't say I voted for him either...or EVER would (if my life depended on it).
What will be "fun" to watch is how the libtards try and SPIN this...as opposed to the FACT that he chose NOT to show up...
And, considering that FRANCE was out FIRST, REAL ALLY (during the Revolutionary War), there is a history between us - no denying that.
I want to see "da prez" called out on this one...a LOT.
Thanks for taking time to stop on by today to comment.
Much appreciated.
Stay safe (and warm) out there.
Well, Bob, I read this very late today, so at least I can be assured of being innocent of any charges that I copied the beginning and end of my blog today off you... and as you typed yours out before I did (still sleeping at the time), we can put it to bed with "great minds think alike!"
Chris:
My summation of what you said makes so much sense, it has to be fattening...lol.
And yes, we DO...
((wink))
Thanks for swinging by today and commenting.
Stay safe (and warm) up there, brother
