Welcome to what looks to be a rather SOGGY day (a bit later) here in the Heartland, courtesy of the remnants of Hurricane Patricia, supposedly the largest event to ever hit our part of our world not noted for such storms ((rolls eyes)), and sure to be blamed on global warming.
Our Hooiserland weather will have us seeing increasing clouds and the rain moving in by late afternoon, with temps reaching into the upper 50s.
Some forecasts show we might get over 2 inches of rain, but hey, it could be SNOW (which would leave us with between 2-2.5 FEET of the powdery white stuff. And if that were cocaine, well, we're not going there, are we?
So, while we wait for the rain to commence, let's all get our morning beverages poured as we settle back and see what has been going on elsewhere..
*** First out of the seed bag is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
October 27 -
---Today is NATIONAL AMERICAN BEER DAY
Please, none of that cat-piss Bud Light. |
---It's also NAVY DAY

*** Next up, and because no one pointed out that I MISSED this last week, we bring you ALL the police calls the media doesn't see fit to let you in on, so hang on, we've TWO weeks of "stuff" to catch up.

FIREWORKS CALLS - 10/12 - 10/25
============================
((NONE - A-freaking-MAZING!))
And there you go (WHEW!)...been kinda BUSY, and in ALL the "old familiar places", hmm?
*** Next up, I watched the Fort Wayne MAYORAL DEBATE on WANE last night, expecting a snooze-fest, and was pleasantly surprised.
I thought candidate Mitch Harper did quite en exemplary job of taking our incumbent monarch (King Henry) Harper took our mayor to task for his "shortcomings" when it comes to our fair city, and facts (to me) trump almost anything else.
The king looked a bit less prepared, hesitated here and there, and resorted to parroting his achievements once again, such as they have been.
Here's the lowdown from the J-G (which tends to lean to the left):
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Mayoral-candidates-square-off-9570337
And here's Kevin Leininger's article on the differing visions of those seeking the mayor's office:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/Henry--Harper-offer-competing-visions-for-mayor-s-office--city-s-future
And here is the take from less-liberal WPTA :
http://www.21alive.com/nbc33/news/Henry-Harper-square-off-in-lone-mayoral-debate-337331121.html
Lastly here is the story from host station WANE:
http://wane.com/2015/10/26/crime-focus-of-mayoral-debate/
I have to admit that at one point, I thought moderator Heather Herron was going to laugh (on a Henry response).
I admit that our king DID provide the humor I found in the debate, whereas Harper stated much of what I have said HERE (and you already know about), so if any of what was said sounded familiar, you know where you read about it (first).
Moving on...
*** Speaking of CRIME (which was a major topic in the debate), they have ID'ed the female victim of the 27th homicide I touched on yesterday.
Homicide 27 crime scene - Esmond and Barr Sts. |
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/Victim-found-in-alley-identified--4th-homicide-since-Thursday-9566909
Gimme an "F"... |
Henry believes that the PER CAPITA method of determination of the number of officers required isn't the right way to go.
Really? REALLY???
You mean you feel better with having one officer per every 1000 + citizens instead of every 500 or so?
No wonder all the FWPD sector officers seem to DO is chase the damn radio.
How is that BETTER for the citizens...and SAFER for the officers?
Guess Henry has a lead role in our production from the Theater of the Absurd.
*** Next, seems that the World Health Organization thinks that damn near ALL the processed meats we partake of will give us cancer.
MMMmmmmmm....bacon. |
(here we go...yet again - politicizing the family dinner).
Are these the same loons that told us cholesterol was bad, whole milk was bad, coffee was bad, and red wine was bad...and proven WRONG on every single count???
Here's the story link:
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/red-meats-likely-cause-cancer-who-study-says-2015-10-26
I think what these people SHOULD tell us is that a diet consisting ONLY of such meats might give you a greater RISK of colon cancer, but if it's taken in MODERATION (Thanks, Ben Franklin) it's okay (which it IS)
Is this another part of the NWO mandate, designed to rid us of a large piece of mankind, so the world can better sustain itself?
Sorry, not buying into this BS.
Personally, I think anything "could" give you cancer based on your genetic proclivity for getting it in the first place.
Maybe we should focus LESS on bacon and sausage and focus MORE on adapting our DNA markers to disallow cancer to ravage our people?
Whatever turns "on" the defectiveness of cellular activity should just be turned off...problem solved.
And then I can have a bacon sandwich.
*** Next up, I decided to watch SUPERGIRL after the debate (and the Big Bang Theory), and I like the look of the series pilot.
Since it's produced by Greg Berlanti, who also does ARROW, THE FLASH and the soon to be released LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (and also produced the Green Lantern movie, which was not THAT bad a flick).
It does deviate somewhat from the original comic book premise, but not so much as to keep you from watching. The special effects are every bit as good as the Flash.
The times have changed (read updated) to fit the plot-line, and some cool continuity was tossed in the mix.
Kara Zor-El is also a Kryptonian, sent to earth to watch over Kal-El (Clark Kent aka Superman), but her escape pod from the doomed planet is lost in the Phantom Zone, where she does not age.
When the phantom zone is destroyed, Kara's ship crashes to Earth where she is raised by her adoptive parents, played by HELEN SLATER and DEAN CAIN, and if know your Hollywood films and TV, you KNOW the roles they played...it's kinda cool, really.
I think the show's got potential. And, well she IS kinda cute...for a super-powered young lady.
*** Last back to the bird feeder... it's always nice to escape the drudgery of reality once in a while with some hobbies, or a good book, some music or perhaps a video game or a movie or TV show.
But, whenever that escape from reality is a chronic way to avoid the challenges that life presents us, there is trouble.
We were meant to challenge ourselves, each other and accept the challenges of life...THAT is how we evolve.
Such things make a nation great, as well as produce innovations and inventions which can often make US better.
And yet, when people fail to spend time in the "real world", they deny themselves the ability to make mistakes, learn from them, and become more than they were the previous day. When you multiply that behavior by all those embracing it, it's little wonder we see more crazies out there, because they have lost touch WITH reality.
We all only get one shot at life, so it's in our best interest, as well as in the interest of many others, that we pay attention, try our best, and never settle for mediocrity.
Sadly, many are doing just the reverse of that...and are being rewarded for their lack of enthusiasm.
I think that, coupled with the brevity of life all of us get, is what we need to utilize our escapism in the manner it was created...NOT as a substitute FOR our lives, but as something to do when we need some of that "time off" from all the pummeling we take from reality.
Always know the distinction between fantasy and reality, and you can never go wrong.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Oh Bob. Of course bacon giving you cancer creates mass panic and frenzy. More bacon for us then! LOL. I swear. They just need to shut up about things. Everything can give you cancer in too much quantity. Cavemen were eating bacon for Pete's sake. A dinosaur got them before cancer did.
Momma Fargo:
I totally agree...must be those climate change goofballs trying to screwing up something ELSE that needs absolutely no changing.
In my kitchen, when it comes to ANY or ALL meats - COOKING is the only PROCESSING needed, period...HA!
BTW..."Supergirl" -I think I found the PERFECT costume you could wear for Halloween.
:)
That would be worth a couple 3 musketeers and Snickers bars from our house!
Thanks for rolling up today to comment.
Stay safe down there, dear.
National beer day- on a TUESDAY? Pass.
You should charge the FWPD per "shots fired" entry- call it a Bob Tax- just to see how much you'd make at say, 3 cents a call? That'd be $1.44 this week... or $4.80 if you made it a dime...
I'd have given $4.80 to see Heather laugh at King Tom...
If you're not going to base police coverage on per capita, simple logic tells you that you then require a better quality of officer on the job... you see that coming? (Heather snickers)
I saw on the CBS News that your chance of colon cancer goes from 1.6% for average Joe to 1.7% if you ate one hot dog EVERY DAY.... frankly I'm tired of all the reasons they want me to change my food intake. Didn't listen to Upton Sinclair, won't listen to John LePook.
Slater and Dean are her parents... wow, now that's casting!
Chris:
--That's what I thought too...TUESDAY??
SHOULD be on a SATURDAY (there 'ya go)
--A BOB TAX...I'm liking that one...a LOT.
I could buy an electrified FENCE w/ that $$$ in NO time...heh.
Digging my moat would take a bit longer.
--Yeah, if we're NOT going PER CAPITA...then we need a ROBOCOP! (or some ED-209s...lol)
Wonder what size uniform a HULK would take???
--I hear 'ya...(pass the bacon, cheeseburger, and deli meats!)
Could be worse...could be S.E ASIA (they eat dog)...
Hide the Scrappster!
Thanks a lot for taking time to stop by and comment today.
Stay safe up there, brother.
