Humpday Happenings...
Welcome to the middle of the week, and all the fun that comes along with it.
Yes, we also have a new president-elect.
Ourworld as we know it is STILL here, too...astounding, isn't it?
Our Hoosierland weather for today will see clouds starting out, but giving way to partly sunny skies, temps up to around 53 degrees and mild breezes. Not a bad day, as days go.
Now, let's all get that first drink poured to get things rolling, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the locker room is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"Life in general has never been even close to fair, so the pretense that the government can make it fair is a valuable and inexhaustible asset to politicians who want to expand government."
Probably one of the most apropos quotes we've had here, because it is SO very true.
So, who said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in Gastonia, North Carolina...
*** Next up, is the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 9 -
---Today is Microtia Awareness Day
(birth defect regarding small and malformed ears)
---And, it's National Scrapple Day (
Be nice if I HAD some in this damn city - no cats, AND no scrapple now)
*** Next up, police need help in catching another thief.
Here's the story:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/crime/Fort-Wayne-Police-seek-public-s-help-in-identifying-robbery-suspect
(good video capture)
Yeah, it's THAT time of year - the holidays are fast approaching and it's time to start hitting the dollar stores, like the Dollar General located at 1915 E. Tillman Rd.
The robbery took place on Monday around 1300 hrs.
This black male demanded money from a female employee while holding a knife.
The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash (no Newports, though).
The best way to handle a riobber with a knife, is to have a store manager with a GUN....simple as that.
Problem solved.
*** Next, that tortoise shell colored cat was back yesterday...and Wifey got to see it on our patio table, licking at an empty food dish (the birds came by earlier and ate the CAT food). And, it ran away again.
Now she knows I'm not imagining it - no Phantom Feline Syndrome there.
And, it's been 3 weeks since Rassie passed...sorry, not any easier for me...not without Hobo around to "take up the slack", as it were.
I could find some comfort petting him while he laid in my lap.
Should have brought him inside to stay.
"It’s funny. The day you lose someone isn’t the worst. At least you’ve got something to do. It’s all the days they stay dead." (Doctor Who - Heaven Sent)
Yeah, that sums it up well. Art imitating life once again.
*** Next, and I suppose it's kinda important...we do indeed have a new president-elect.
Donald Trump will become our 45th head "Capo" next year, along with our soon-to-be former governor, Mike Pence as his VP (loads better than "Gaffin' Joe", that's for sure).
Let's just say if you didn't vote dumbocrat, you sorta nailed this election.
And about damn time, too.
Hopefully, this will stave off the liberal agenda for a while.
Personally, I'd love to see it eradicated totally, but you take what you can.
What I found very telling, was that "Hellary" just called Trump to congratulate him on his victory, but NEVER addressed the people IN PERSON with a concession speech, that she was said to have already written (along with a victory speech)....wonder why THAT was, hmm?
Was she that distraught?
Or was she that ill?
Perhaps those health concerns were not without some basis?
At least we know why that fireworks show over the Hudson to celebrate her win was CANCELLED many hours before the polls even closed, don't we?
Here's the NY Times link to the page with the election results:
http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/president
Pretty good maps showing that Clinton's "blue wall" came tumbling down like those of Jericho, and all Trump had to do was blow his own horn. Not a bad tally.
Have to say that my "home" state made a stellar showing by putting Trump "over the top". Nice to see Pennsylvania getting away from being a totally leftard state (the major cities still are mired in liberalism, sad to say).
It was good to see all of the corn belt make the better of two not-so-good choices.
While certainly NOT a landslide close to anything of the Reagan era, it was a decent victory nonetheless.
*** Next up, so what does all this mean NOW?
He DOES have pretty good "jazz-hands"...
No more freakshow to divert our attention.
Let's just say that our president-elect KNOWS how to talk the talk.
The REAL challenges will start when he's inaugurated. THEN, we get to see if "The Don" can walk the walk.
And for God's sake, PLEASE keep him off of social media...!!!
Hire a damn twitter "ghost-tweeter" to do that sorta stuff.
Trump is his own worst enemy at times.
Now, considering that Trump is not EXACTLY what one may call a true CONSERVATIVE (which is the reason I begged off), he has proposed some good ideas to get this nation back on the course it should be on, and time will tell if he meant it, or was just blowing smoke out his butt.
After all, a LOT of people had high hopes for Obummer, and we saw how poorly THAT turned out, almost from the start, didn't we?
He was good at this...
To be honest, this election had all the sensationalism of a Super Bowl game, or better yet...a World Series.
It went the distance, had it's share of "big plays" (read stink-eye commentary), and left a lot of debris in it's wake ( how the mighty fell). All that was missing were some Super Bowl first-run ads.
*** Last back to the patio...can someone with no prior political experience be the person to make the needed changes in our nation and straighten out the clusterf*ck from the past 8 years?
I'd settle for making America NORMAL again.
That certainly IS the $64,000 dollar question, isn't it?
And will the republican party support him as they should? Will we have enough people of character and morality stepping up to make the right choices and do the right thing?
Most importantly, will our next president BE the person who can make the tough calls, keep his composure, and not be a schoolyard bully when faced with opposition?
I feel the same way, Cap...
Time will tell, won't it?.
While not feeling as good about this as I suppose I should, I am confident enough that we're perhaps no longer headed down the road we, as a nation have been forced to travel over the last eight years.
In that, there is hope...REAL hope and not the (false) "hope and change" we were promised and that never surfaced.
Yes...time will tell, as it always does.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Yep. Craziest election I ever watched. At the same time I am still a proud American. Happy day, Bob!

The quote, I would guess Rush Limbaugh or Edwin Jarvis. Oh-fer-two, I'll wager...

I was not aware of Microtia. Guess national days do mean something!

I thought that said National SCRAPPY Day...

First, the DW quote- dead on. Second- I was wondering that MAYBE bringing him in- and giving him that FULL scent of Rassie- is what made him take off...

Boy, I should retire from reading... just turned "patio" into "potato"...

Yeah, we know that Trump acted a certain way during the election. I hope he doesn't compose himself that way in office. I have hopes that he can do some real good, though. I, for one, am excited at the prospect of him repealing Obamacare within his first 100 days so that come next tax filing day I don't have to pay thousands of dollars in government penalties simply because I can't afford healthcare.

(I don't usually make this joke, but in this one case I'll make an exception - 'Thanks, Obama!')

---Sorry, but it IS someone we've had on here before.
NO harm in guessing. (and no strike out pending)
---I thought Microtia was another recently sovereign nation! (I flunked 3rd yr Latin)
---ANY day can be Nat'l Scrappy Day, right?
(but I sure would like some SCRAPPLE with my eggs.)
---Hobo was NOT bothered at all when I gave him the $2 tour. Didn't try to run, jump out of my arms or scratch.
And we hit several rooms downstairs.
---I'll put a potato on the patio (table) then, JUST for you.

Thanks for swinging by today to comment.

Stay sfae up there, brother.

---That's the BIGGEST desk he's going to find himself behind starting next year...hope he is up to the task, because it's gonna be a Lulu!
---I think MUCH of America feels the way you do...things can't that much worse considering all the damage Obummer has done.
---Obummercare is causing more people to go broke than having millions not insured altogether before it was shoved down our throats.
That's NOT the "job" of our government, and SHAME on the Supreme Court for even allowing it in the first place.
Right...THANKS, Obama (for nothing).
Agreed.

Thanks much for taking time to stop by and comment.

Stay safe out there, guys.

I am so mad that Trump won... it would be awesome to have a FEMALE president for once, guess our country thinks women are not capable of it or smart enough. Trump hates Catholics, which is my religion, very insulting. do not agree with anything he says.

I can't say I'm really mad...just disillusioned that a real conservative didn't get the White House.

I think we have a good number of women who WOULD make a damn fine president.
I just happen to believe that Hillary Clinton is NOT one of them.
But I'm not into corruption the way she's been for 30 years.

I think the career politicos don't really want a woman president, and that's a shame (sexist bums), because the RIGHT woman would do a great job (imho).

I grew up with Catholics as a majority in our old neighborhood...nothing wrong with any of them...same for Jews. grew up with them too, and blacks. Not a bad on in the bunch back in my day.
(I was envious that Catholics got more days OFF from school, though...all those SAINTS...lol).

Thanks much for stopping by to comment today.

Take care & stay safe out there.
