Humpday Happenings...
And, it's the last one for this month (which seemed to pass by quickly to me).
In just two days, we start a brand new month...once again. Can't wait for the Christmas sales to commence...lol.
Had our share of flooded roads yesterday with those A.M. thundershowers, too.
Wifey took two tries to get to her school in northern Wells County (it came down that hard).
Not seeing anything close to that today, however.
Our Hoosierland weather will bring us mostly sunny skies, temps reaching near 80 degrees, and a bit of morning fog.
(there are school delays, so be aware of that and drive defensively)
Now, I think it's time we got  a nice big cup (or tall glass) of our favorite morning beverage, as we see what has been going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the recycle bin is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble."
I think this sums up a lot of the issues that face us today, and would we choose our words more carefully, as well as our actions, perhaps we could all get along a lot better.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Kabbalah Centre
*** Next, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 30 -
---It's National Grief Awareness Day
(right on the heals of the Rainbow Bridge gig...how convenient)
---It's National Toasted Marshmallow Day
(I prefer those cool OCTOBER nights for this...sorry) *** Next up, I heard that a rescue boat that was trying to evacuate people from their flooded areas in Houston came under fire from looters. This would appear to be a new LOW for humanity.
http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/28/looters-attack-cajun-navy-with-guns-during-attempted-rescue/
The cajun navy (from Louisiana) reported the incident.
I mean, for the love of God, can't people even be rescued from being flooded the hell out these days without some idiots shooting at them? This is beyond reprehensible.
Not to mention...Texas is probably the LAST place you want to shoot at anyone, considering all the law-abiding people who ALREADY (and legally) carry guns. That would be sheer stupidity to take ANY of them on.
*** Next, that drug treatment center that was supposed to move into the former Verizon building along Rupp Rd won;t be happening...at least not THERE. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20170830/site-wont-house-addiction-center
Not gonna happen there.
((President and CEO Paul Wilson said. The project will proceed at another location at a later date. “I think the fear around this project has been fueled by somehow the implication that dangerous felons would be walking through neighborhoods,” Wilson said. “That is not the case, this is not an issue of dangerous felons walking freely to take advantage of citizens.”))
Yeah, but can you PERSONALLY GUARANTEE that won't occur?
Get back to me when you can.
*** Next, a fire at Canterbury Green Apts causes 25 residents to evacuate. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20170830/fire-damages-22-apartments
Now, this just happened to occur while we had those thunderstorms yesterday, and some believe that a lightning strike "may" be the case (nothing has been released as of yet).
I find that a tough pill to swallow,, simply because building like these (as well as many houses) are typically grounded from lightning hits. Maybe this place didn't have a lightning rod, or maybe ot was removed...who can say.
At least the evacuation wasn't due to a homicide (again)...yet.
*** Next up, that missing teen was found...by her mother...at a friend's house...
And in an age of cellphones, she never bothered to call her mom?
That's one daughter who would face some serious "grounding" for that action of hers.
*** Next, have you heard the latest from PETA? Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/20170830/peta-takes-aim-at-church-lobster-sales
Okay, now wouldn't this come under a violation of people being able to practice their particualr religion? I mean CHURCHES are the focus here with cooking lobsters (from Maine to Maryland) as fundraisers.
Please Eat These Animals -
((“Just considering how many Christians there are in the U.S., we'd be doing a disservice if we don't cater an animal rights message to them,” said Ben Williamson, a PETA spokesman.
Asked what the churches should do to raise money, Williamson replied, “Vegan bake sales would be great.”))
And to that I answer "ROFLMAO...go read the BIBLE and find out what was eaten AND sacrificed, you idiot!" Screw that noise. Wifey and I are STILL going to Red Lobster!
*** Next, time to see what's going on at "Kitten Corner"...
Time to guard the laundry room
The kids always seem to calm down when it rains. At least it seems their crazies don' last as long.
They don't get scared with thunderstorms...just don't chase one another around.
Keeping the sofa warm.
I guess being scared comes when they get older? It did with Penny and Rassie.
*** Next, time to stop in on "Midnight and Company"...
Before it REALLY came down.
The furry twosome spent the rainy part of yesterday in their own places - Midnight was elsewhere other than near the patio, and Whiskers was in that half-shelter under the small tree on the patio. You could see her in there.
When the rain stopped, they were both back (and hungry).
And then they hung around until nightfall, but not before we got in some "laser-playtime".
*** Last back to the trash compacter...I think some people go out of their way to demonstrate just HOW dumb they can be.
Face it, in times past, people were measured by their level of INTELLIGENCE.
These days, you measure them by their level of dumbassery...or sensationalism.
Many out there don't seem to HAVE character, because they're too busy BEING a "character".
I often have many quotes posted here, and with good reason; words have power...they MEAN something.
And the quotes are very powerful, speaking to the part of us that yearns for knowledge and wisdom.
A wise choice.
Some folks tossed that part of them out with yesterday's newspaper, and that's unfortunate.
While most of us endure 12 years of formal education (and some of us four or more years), it's the other however many years we have allotted to us that the informal education takes place.
THAT is where we really "learn to learn"...if we're paying attention in life, and not creating havoc instead.
And, if more people took all that time they're wasting away and devote it to honest learning, many of our problems would diminish inexorably...and that would be a damn good thing for everyone.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

It needs to be Friday like right now. I want to go hide in my bed with my blankie and sleep in and forget the world has turned crazy. Lots of prayers up for Houston. I can't imagine that mess. So sad. And the news...it just gets stupider. Let's focus on Melania's shoes for example. Oy

---I saw that story...and it was another one of those "WTF???" moments...
Who GIVES A SHIT what the hell shoes she wears...they're HER DAMN FEET, for God's sake!
(truth be told, she'd look great even in hip-waders...that'll get me smacked up side my head...lol)

Hey, thanks for rolling up today to comment.

Stay safe down there, dear.

The quote certainly does sum up the state of today's America, and the words that are said usually mean, "I'm most important".

Was thinking about the appropriate punishment for looters would be encountering a scared and hungry gator while in the midst of their thievery- and no way out.

Geez, did you tell the Rupp Rd residents, "Come live in MY neighborhood"?

If the CG fire had been on Truemper Lane (home of 80% of police calls in our little corner), I'd bet money it wasn't lightning... as it is, though, a bolt from the blue does seem likely. Those buildings aren't as young as they used to be, bet it wouldn't take much.

Thankfully, the missing kid turned out about how I figured.

Screw PETA. That is all. Except for, love yer acronym!

Agree (surprise!) on your closing. The world is getting so PURPOSEFULLY stupid, it's not even much fun to do MWN anymore.

Chris:
---I believe that somewhere along the way , our nation has slacked off with the WE, the people gig, and instead embraced "I, the person" rhetoric.
Thankfully, there ARE those in every natural or contrived disaster that STILL think the former.
---I like the way you think...lol.
---Not yet, but given the nature of OUR particular area (and the cretins that infest it), you can pretty much figure out where they want to "stick it".
(where's our Vaseline?)
---Makes you wonder WHO is in charge of INSPECTIONS there and WHY no lightning rods? Maybe THAT should become S.O.P.?
---Wifey and I also thought as much, considering the "locale".
---Don't give up on the MWN...I LIKE seeing people being stupid in OTHER countries as well (lends a sense of CONTINUITY...globally-speaking)...heh.

Thanks much for taking time to drop by and comment.

Stay safe (and fire-free) up there, brother.

The media needs to stop nit-picking about useless tope with the first couple.

Thanks for stopping by top comment.

Stay safe out there.
