Why yes, we are at the middle of the week already...that's what takes place when you have a Monday holiday.
Yet, I assure you there is nothing wrong with time itself.
It continues to move at it's own inexorable and constant pace.
Our Hoosierland weather takes a bit of a turn, however. We're looking at mostly cloudy skies, scattered rain throughout the day (maybe a little thunder tossed in) with a high of only 63 degrees.
Now that's some nice light jacket weather...even nicer if you take along an umbrella should a shower hit.
So, let's proceed softly into this good day with a nice glass or cup of our favorite beverage, as we see what else has been going on,,,
*** First out of the cracker box is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"I think it is fair to say that during World War II there was a high sense of purpose. The country had a very clear vision of its own standing, of its own morality. It was not an ambiguous time. Today, we live in a world that is highly ambiguous, very fractured, with many of the historical, traditional values in a state of collapse, really."
You have to admit that what used to be "black and white" has become those 50 shades (or more) of grey, and in so many aspects of our society. So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at World War 2 Memorial in Washington...
*** Next up, time to see to our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 6 -
---It's National Coffee Ice Cream Day
(believe it or not, I got this one covered)
---It's National Read A Book Day
(well it will NOT be 'War and Peace' for me)
*** Next up, time to start the head-shaking with some marvelous stupidity, most of which take place right here in our city.
---New Haven and Fort Wayne are taking control of the bridges in their respective areas.
Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20170906/cities-take-bridge-repair-from-county
Now, while that does eliminate ONE level of government and "streamline" things somewhat, how EXACTLY will this conceivably SAVE the citizens money?
Sorry, but I'm seeing the numbers. Methinks our "king" is a might mistaken.
SOMEONE has to pay for bridge repair and maintenance, and the county WAS leveling funding (from us already), so now the CITY gets to do likewise. Plus, Fort Wayne will have to HIRE an engineer, and THAT will cost somewhere in the $100K range (you know that's coming)., so WHERE is the "savings"?
Like most democrats, our ruler is getting too many pokers in the fire.
Granted, staying with the county would see rising costs, but what makes anyone think that by ditching the county will (in reality) save anyone anything in either the short run OR long run?
((“I don't think they're going to come down much, if any, but more power to them. If they want to roll the dice, that's fine,” County Councilamn Nelson Peters said. “I'll be happy to welcome them back if they find out this was not the best decision for the citizens of Fort Wayne and New Haven." ))
We'll certainly see...won't we?
---City Council (in my opinion) shot itself in the damn foot last evening, Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20170906/plan-to-cut-club-hours-is-shelved
Only THIS time, we can blame the Republican (majority) for tabling the bill that was proposed by councilman Russ Jehl.
((The proposed ordinance would have required adult establishments in Fort Wayne to cease dances at midnight but would allow them to continue to sell alcohol until 3 a.m.))
And here I thought it was going to close them altogether earlier...well spank me rosy.
Selling alcohol until 3 A.M. will STILL lead to acts of stupidity either in the club or outside...THAT is the real problem (not the dancers). And the club ambulance-chaser had something to say on the topic...
((Attorney Michael Murray, who is representing six of the city's strip clubs, said the number of police runs to local strip clubs represents a drop in the bucket when compared with 175,000 police calls citywide in 2016. Murray also indicated the council could expect a potentially costly lawsuit in federal court if Jehl's proposal was approved.))
Well, that statistic is BS, because you cannot compare the TOTAL number of police calls and shove them in the SAME box as SPECIFIC calls to SPECIFIC locations that happen to be problematic (and use the drop-in-the-bucket defense)...can you? What a putz!
We sure can't be everywhere at once...can we? |
What about 5 robberies at the same convenience store at McKinnie and S. Anthony? Another drop in the bucket?
Guess what? Those drops add up and help to overfill that damn bucket, you moron.
---Posterity Heights breaks ground today. Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2017/09/06/posterity-heights-construction-begins-project-initially-targets-single-parent-students/
Now, you have to read INTO the headline. It states that the project INITIALLY targets single parent students, but let's be real here...who will WANT to move into the SE side and into some "high-tech" student housing, which is not really near ANY facility of higher learning? NO self-respecting normal person with a child in tow would actively DESIRE this venue for themselves or their kids, and that's the honest truth. I mentioned this in previous posts here.
Consider this more of a high-tech GHETTO in the making...nothing more.
It would be a good concept, IF crime wasn't so damn prevalent in and around the immediate area.
Any bets how long it takes to look like THIS again? |
I'd call it POSTERIOR Heights.
*** Next, a death investigation on the NORTH side continues. Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2017/09/05/death-investigation-underway-at-north-side-home/
((Police at the scene would not say much else, other than to say a woman was dead inside the home. The initial call came in as a stabbing or cutting, police said.))
Seems suspicious, doesn't it?
Maybe a domestic gone sideways, or even a home invasion. Perhaps a suicide?
Your guess is as good as mine.
*** Next up, time to check in with our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were doing okay for the most part yesterday...a little chasing each other around, but mostly taking it easy and enjoying the nice weather by the window perch...or family room patio door.
They even chose to nap TOGETHER on the family room couch. That's a rarity.
And, whenever I have something to eat in the living room, I have an "audience" watching my every bite to make sure I don't choke...(yeah, right)...lol.
*** Next, let's stop by and visit "Midnight and Company"...
We are missing you, buddy. |
Hope that the familiarity of being back at our place (and us) makes him feel even better.
Anyway, our "stand-in" for today isn't even a cat...it's a RABBIT...with mirror sunglasses.
Didn't know the future was THAT bright, especially on a cloudy day (on the SE side).
Initially, the person on the phone couldn't LOCATE "our" cat (how can you lose a cat?), but since another cat there was named Midnight, ours came in without a proper name, and was herder to track down.
Wifey said if he was put down, she was going to be VERY angry...he wasn't (thankfully).
As for Whiskers? She's been around all day and still looks about for her fellow feline. She was even leaving some of her food (I guess in case he came by). He's coming back...just be patient.
*** Last back to the cookie jar...used to be a lot less "dumb" in the world.
Can't say as much today, can we?
Fellow blogger Chris Martin made a rather good comparison of things today with that of Nimrod (king of Shinar from the Old Testament).
He is associated with the whole Tower of Babel gig and had a rep as being rebellious against God.
Think about it...what are we staring at today?
A relative MESS of similarities, that's for sure.
God confused mankind during the Babel incident, and He's doing the same when it comes to our "new" language - that of the Internet.
At our fingertips is all this technology and we've no concept on how to properly utilize it. We instead use it to obfuscate, intimidate, and otherwise take out of context ANYTHING or anyone who would have a differing opinion or point-of-view.
I basically use the Internet for information acquisition, but in an era of such "confused language" (as that from Babel), it becomes more difficult to glean the truth from the lies. And people LOVE to fall for lies...
Just look at 1930s Germany, right?
All you have to do is wrap those lies up in a nice enough package and presto - a malleable population.
We can't really believe much of anything OR anyone any longer, unless we're willing to DIG for the truth, and that entails some serious work on our part.
When we can discern the wheat from the chaff, THEN (and only then) can we return our nation to what it SHOULD be...and not leave it to what it has become.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, here we are wrapped up in the hurricane stuff again (including lots of prayers) and so am a bit distracted, but here goes.
Don't know the quoted, but they hit that one on the head.
I'm currently reading One Minute To Midnight (the missles of October deal).
I understand the county was raising FTW by double and NHV by a factor of SIX. NHV prolly had no choice, and FTW figured why not jump now instead of in two years when the county starts sticking them with the money they weren't getting from NHV.
Here's the thing on the strip bars. The bar owners PROVED Jehl's stats were BS (b/c many of those 175,000 calls were to hotels and other bars that dwarved the strip bar #s), Pierre's proved over the weekend that bare tits weren't the problem, and FTW has been afraid of legislating morality since Steven Tyler told Mayor Armstrong to go f himself. I really think the bullet fired at Pierre's killed it dead.
Heard that your little "stinker" is back!
Chris:
---I know what you mean...if it's not prayer for our COUNTRY...it's for nature to lay off for a bit and give the people a break!
---That quote was another "new discovery" for me.
---That whole story is riveting. We got pretty close to "see 'ya" time.
---This looks like a real "no-win scenario" (for the taxpayers anyway). Costs for repair WILL continue to rise (thank the unions).
---Those 175K FWPD calls were ALL over the city for everything from TRAFFIC STOPS to a 911 hang-up!
Hotels and such were a part of it, but not the majority, trust me.
---Alcohol is THE problem, but like I said "sin is still sin". And we all know how well prohibition went over (for 13 years). People just have NO sense of moderation OR boundaries, do they?
---Yeah...LOL, he's not as "springtime-fresh" as I'd like him to be...but he's back and walking on ALL fours again.
(more on that tomorrow)
Thanks for stopping by to comment today.
Stay safe (and missile-free) up there, brother
