Humpday Happenings...
It's the middle of the week once again, and the final day of the first month of 2018.
We'll endeavor to make this last day of January a decent one. I can;t speak for the rest of th world.
I apologize for any tardiness , as our older XP computer has got it's undies in a damn bunch and doesn't want to work as designed. Doesn't want to seem to access Google and IE is too damn slow, so this may take a while to sort it out. Might have to get my tactical shoes on and give it a damn "reboot". Getting real sick and tired of technology not being "user-friendly".
All I seem to have with this dog is a glorified typewriter!
Our Hoosierland weather for today will see us having mostly cloudy skies (again - so much for viewing that super blue blood moon thing). That always seems to happen in Indiana, doesn't it? Guess that lunar eclipse is  a washout too?
Temps will rise to around 42 degrees, but there will be windy conditions (up tp 40 MPH) out there, so the old wind chill WILL figure into things. Dress accordingly (unless you prefer a better chance of catching the flu or even pneumonia).
Now, let's get that nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa poured as we take a look at what's been going on  in some other places...
*** First off of the kitchen table is our "WHO SAID THAT?" quote for the week:
"Growing old is like being increasingly penalized for a crime you haven't committed."
I just saw this and smiled...and in some ways, it does ring true. When you take into account what occurs as we get older, just from a physical standpoint, it makes a lot of sense. So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at Villefranche-sur-SaƓne...
*** Next, we bring you the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 31
---It's National Backward Day
(what? Another government observance?)
---It's National Inspire Your Heart With Art Day
(I'm kinda yawning on this one...sorry)
*** Next up, another drug dealer gets a visit from the local constabulary. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20180131/2-arrested-charged-in-rudisill-drug-raid
This took place at a house located at 562 E. Rudisill Blvd (not too far from the "Fortress", in fact) around 1445 hrs yesterday.
Police found 18 grams of  heroin, marijuana, $1,100 in cash, a Glock 21 (.45 caliber), a Charter Arms .38 caliber revolver at the house.
Rickey (or Ricky if you prefer) Armour, 31 was arrested on 4 counts of dealing, and possession of a firearm (yeah, he's done this crap before).
Drug-dealing LOSERS!
An adult female was also arrested for misdemeanor charges of visiting a common nuisance and possession of marijuana. While police were at the residence, 27-year-old Stephanie Phommachanh arrived at the scene and was also arrested for dealing cocaine and heroin and maintaining a common nuisance.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
The Armour family has a long "history" in our fair city. Quintoin Armour was killed just last year (another dealer).
Check my archive post from 22 April 2011. Ricky didn't learn much from being in jail, did he? Then again, he failed HIMSELF years ago.
*** Next, the good old IDoE is spending more money it doesn't have to. Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37382867/indiana-department-of-education-looks-to-expand-summer-meal-program
Do we really need to feed kids ALL summer again? In a nation of such plenty, it's hard to believe that what is passing for parents today can't (or won't) prioritize feeding their children as job one. Lazy doesn't cut it today...period. and there are enough jobs out there to get gainfully employed without constantly sucking on the teat of all these government agencies.
But hey, people used to be so much BETTER at doing "more with less" when I was that young.
*** Next up,looks like someone in Indy DOES want to protect witnesses. Here's the story form the state capital:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37381828/council-approves-300k-for-local-witness-protection-program
I suppose this is being done so witnesses come forward to help convict the criminal refuse among us. I want to know what TOOK so damn long to come to this conclusion that such a program is needed? Could it be the RISE in violent crime?
We have too many people living in too much fear thee days, and that's not right for everyone at all.
*** Next, Another (well-deserved) failure of a state hate-crime law. Here's the lowdown:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37381996/push-for-hate-crimes-law-fails-again-in-indiana-legislature
Someone made a good call here, because the wording of such a bill HAS to be perfectly correct, unless you prefer people to cry wolf for no reason, which I can easily see happening. Anyone and everyone will become "victims" of so-called hate crimes, while those causing the REAL crimes will be glossed over in the mix. It's just human nature to pursue that course.
*** Next up, a good column by Bob Rinearson ion the N-S. Here's the 411:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/opinion/commentary/2018/01/30/robert-rinearson-marijuana-abuse-leads-to-expanding-path-of-destruction/
It's rather self-explanatory, but makes a good case for abuse of ANY such substance.
Not to mention that whatever law that gets passed to allow cannabis in any form for whatever reason,...it's still ILLEGAL as per FEDERAL laws, so I guess all the states that permit the use of pot are indeed in VIOLATION of federal laws...right?
Wonder how they'd feel if federal money TO those states suddenly DRIED UP as a result?
*** Next , time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids had another fun day of being cats...which means they played, they ate, they napped.
(wonder what the Latin translation of that would be...lol)
Reminds me of the Gallic Wars and what Caesar said...only this time, it's with four legs and doesn't deal with conquering France.
Fortunately, we only have to deal with two, rather than several legions...
*** Next up, time to check in with "Midnight and Company"...
Got me another new "spot".
Our reliable furry twosome spent most all day near the house. But when it came to midday snacks, Whiskers was MIA.
She did come by about a half hour after I went toi feed Midnight, but then he was gone.
I'm here NOW, aren't I?
No doubt they take turns doing their "patrols". Luckily, they were BOTH back on station by dinner and last call treats. They must enjoy making me worry...like I've nothing better to do, right?
*** Last back to the family room...we had an interesting occurrence last evening.
The best I could do to clean it up.
We had a knock on the door after 8 P.M. Wifey spoke with the black male at the door, who OBVIOUSLY had a wrong address.
I got a peek at him while he was on the step...not someone you could call an "up and comer". Looked more typical of the type we frequently see around here (which is dubious at best).
Can't even ID the damn car.
He went up the street, Wifey called the police to report suspicious persons, and I got a couple pics of the "street meeting". They left before any police rolled through...naturally.
Can't say what house this guy was looking for,, but we've had stories about people being shot answering doors on the south side, which begs that question: "Is Fort Wayne a safe place"?
We need a followup.
Well, not when THIS kinda crap goes down. More broken windows, folks.
But, city leaders don't seem to know about this, and if they do, are doing little to stop it.
Years ago, I said crime was coming down to our particular area like a rising tide. It gets closer every year,
How many people will such activity claim before the city starts to address all the broken windows it's allowing?
And when will people stop this insanity when it comes to violence for violence sake?
Perhaps some people cannot be redeemed, and therefore need to be placed out of the mainstream populace...
Keeping them far away from regular folks who just want to live their own lives and not deal with all this ghettoesque drama would be even better. Let's try some common sense along those lines.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Oh dear, Bob. I fear there is still way too much crime out there. Sigh. And it is windy today in this part of the world. Yuck. ON a nice note, love your happy kitties! I think they are getting a little on the skinny side. (snork)

---I know. Pretty disgusting, isn't it?
What purpose people see in doing all this crap eludes the hell outta me.
Takes that special kind of stupid to chase after that, doesn't it?
---Windy enough to go tell people to go fly a kit...should the need arise...lol.
---If you saw those cats up close (and personal), you'd see they are not as skinny as the camera makes them. Midnight is a rather STOUT fellow, and Whiskers is a little fluffball.
Our indoor cats run around too damn much to gain weight...HA!
They're lean, (not so) mean, feline machines.

Thanks so much for taking the time to roll up and comment today.

Stay safe (and don't get wind burned) down there, dear.

Balky computer: XP will do that... try running a couple of Gerber cutters with them...

IDK if it's so much crimes you haven't committed as "the ones you got away with" catching up...

Brad loved that the other day was Bubble Wrap Day.

Wow, the only other time I ever heard of Charter Arms was in the lyrics of a favorite song from the 90s.

"Christmas time came early this year
out on Grandad's farm
He opened up all the presents himself,
with an antique Charter Arms
Then he tucked the whole family into bed
out in a corner of the yard
When the TV man asked him, what went wrong?
He said, I just got tired of being ignored..."

"An adult female was also arrested for misdemeanor charges of visiting a common nuisance and possession of marijuana"- That what that is?

The rest of the news: No dissent here.

"Veni Vidi Meow?"

(D can grind me for my Latin, but my only real Latin is pig.)

Closer: And that is why I include youse guys' safety in my prayer list every AM.

---I'm thinking of painting it black so that it runs faster, but then it might not work at all (wow, that sounds SO familiar)...lol.
---There' GO to be a level of KARMA involved, that's for sure.
---Amazing what you find out about fellow workers (by stopping here)
---That certainly is a song they DON'T seem to play during the holidays...wonder why?
---Well, no one said Armour was a connoisseur of the feminine gender. After all, he can't tell right from wrong, no matter HOWQ many times they lock his sorry ass up.
---I took 3 years of Latin...still can't speak it...LOL.
(and I flunked 3rd year, but I knew all the stories and fables by heart...just couldn't translate them they way they wanted me to...sorry).
---We here at the "Fortress" thank you all for the inclusion. Consider the same for you down here every night.

And thanks for stopping by here today and commenting.

Stay safe (and prayerful) up there, brother.
