Tuesday Tidbits...

I'll wager that ANY tidbits are probably frozen solid this morning (or very close to it).
Closest we came to THIS weather was back in 2014 in Indiana...funny, it didn't seem THAT bad back then, did it? Breaking a record today, that's for sure.
Got a few more days of this frigid stuff before we get close to 32 degrees.
Out Hoosierland weather for today...BLOODY COLD! Skies will be mpstly clear (sunshine, do your stuff), and a high of about SEVEN degrees. Windchills will keep temps BELOW zero (like TWENTY BELOW ZERO), so do dress protectively, and drive defensively.

If outside, remember that 30 minute time limit after which you can suffer frostbite on exposed areas.
Now, let's get a hot cup of anything to steel us against this horrible weather, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...

*** Next, we spent a nice New Years day at home (like we were even thinking of going outside someplace else).

Kinda like THIS.

I made us a beef brisket with potatoes cooked in with it, and some side veggies.
The brisket is done in the oven...instead of the stove top...works out REAL well,. and very tender.
And, we've got leftovers for about a week...heh.
I'm thinking Reuben sandwiches (even got the sauerkraut).
*** Next up, with the advent of another year, one thing we all need to do is remind ourselves what year it IS, and that means calendars.

Maybe some use that mobile app crap, but I prefer the TANGIBLE -  hang it on the wall kind.
Wifey went and had a photo calendar made for me for Christmas...and I LOVE it.
It has twelve months of our cats, indoors and out, and I've placed it in the computer room right on the wall in front of me.

If you're looking for a really cool gift for someone, get one of these made for them.
After the year's done, you can ALWAYS save the pictures and maybe frame them.
*** Next, and speaking of cats, let's see what's going on at "Kitten Corner"...
Well, the kids started out being good, but late in the evening, Violet took to walking along the top of our entertainment center...NOT a good thing.

That was worth a scolding.
Gallifrey got a case of the runarounds a bit earlier, and Wifey used the laser pointer to channel his overabundance of energy (hey, just give that energy to me...I can use it...lol).

After that, they settled back down and all was calm in the "realm"...!
*** Next up, time to check in with "Midnight and Company"...
Our furry twosome are still braving the cold as well as can be expected, and are still showing up for food. You can tell they don't much like walking around on the cold snowy ground, and I try to keep the feedings a bit more brief, so they can get back to napping and saving their energy for warmth.

Midnight still does his "patrols" and he seems to have a lot more common sense than the locals around here (or the paper carrier)- he uses the path I made to the street plus the sidewalks and steps that I've cleared off...

I admire that. Goes to show that HE appreciates my work (while he also supervises...lol)

Whiskers sticks close by, and during the day, she let's the sun shine on her as she huddles against the side of our house (where there is no snow at all). Another smart cat. Still have to thaw the water dish out for them every time I go out to feed them.

It's worth the hassle, because they do drink from it, keeping their body temp up (rather than lick ice and snow which does the opposite). Even in this cold, you still have to stay hydrated.
*** Last back to Roald Amundsen's camp...where in God's name are ALL those "global warming" advocates?

Maybe they just found a large rock and crawled (back) under it?
Haven't heard a peep from them of late. Wonder why that is?
Could it be all the arctic COLD that has gripped about 90% of the USA? Sure doesn't seem like we're suffering any catastrophic warming NOW...does it?
And, if anyone is (instead) using the old "climate change" thing...remember that the climate is ALWAYS changing, as evidenced with this POLAR VORTEX we're "enjoying"...right?

I still believe that this old planet will continue to do whatever it wants to do, and when it chooses to do it. We're just along for the ride...like a parasite of sorts.
And as such, the best we can do is not try to bother the "host".
The climate WILL continue to change, minute by minute, and we have to adapt along with it whenever it becomes severe.
You're just not going to convince me that global warming is to blame for this cold, however.
Maybe we all need to adjust our way of thinking to better deal with such things.
It's as good a place to start as any...isn't it?
