We did see a bit of melting yesterday, which aided in getting rid of that nasty ice coating on damn near everything.
(made the our steps slippery under foot)
I have to admit it was nice to NOT have AS many layers of clothing on when I went out to feed the cats. And yes, I know in a few months, we'll be griping about the heat, but you have to remember you can only take OFF so many layers before you break the decency laws...lol.
Our Hoosierland weather for today sees us with mostly sunny skies, and temps reaching up to around 37 degrees. Not all that bad.
So, let's take a minute to get ourselves a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa as we take a look at what's been going on in some of those old, familiar places...
*** First off of the skating rink is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 13 -
---It's Fat Tuesday
(yes, it's the official kickoff to Mardu Gras)
---It's National Tortellini Day
(and that looks pretty good, but NOT for breakfast)
---It's Safer Internet Day
(yeah, right. Good luck with THAT one)
*** Next up, and since it IS Tuesday, let's look at all the FWPD calls we didn't hear about, because the media was busy understating the obvious, and overstating the ridiculous...

FIREWORKS CALLS - FEB 5 - FEB 11:
NONE AGAIN?!?
I guess all that COLD weather does help in lowerting crime...for a brief time, anyway.
*** Next, police are looking for another one of Fort Wayne's "stellar" citizens. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2018/02/12/police-search-for-suspect-in-killing/
((Nickolas F. McKinley, 24, is charged with Reckless Homicide in the Nov. 7 death of Javon Sims. Police said Sims was standing outside a home at 2907 Smith St. around 1:10 a.m. when someone shot him.))
Doesn't exactly sound like reckless homicide to me, unless another one of these mooks had another defective firearm that "accidently" went off, killing the man on Smith St.
(( Monday then, police said McKinley was wanted in Sims’ death. It’s not clear how detectives tied McKinley to the crime.))
Someone came forward? Fingerprints on spent shell casing?
If police are looking for this man (considered armed AND dangerous) they know more than they're letting on to the public.
And if you want help FROM the public, it's better to provide as much information as is available...right?
*** Next up, two Ohio LEOS were killed in Westerville. Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2018/02/12/flags-at-half-staff-to-honor-2-slain-ohio-police-officers/
((The two officers were shot Saturday while responding to a 911 hang-up call at a townhome where the 30-year-old suspect was wounded. Offcials said Sunday that suspect Quentin Smith was hospitalized in stable condition and expected to survive.
He’s charged with aggravated murder.
Municipal court records didn’t show an attorney for him.
Smith was sentenced to three years in prison in 2009 on a burglary conviction with an added enhancement of having a gun. He left prison in 2011 and was released from parole, called community control in Ohio, in November 2013, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.))
Looks like the penal system FAILED once again, and two officers paid the ultimate price for the system's "lack of vision" to keep such human vermin under wraps and off of our streets.
State flags in Ohio will fly at half-staff for slain officers Eric Joering, 39, and Anthony Morelli, 54. Goes to show that NO police calls these days are without a greater level of hazard.
*** Next, our "king" (Mayor Henry) might have overstepped his boundaries of power. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20180213/clerk-mayor-retaliating-after-ticket
((Henry was ticketed by parking control officers last week while his car was parked in the Citizens Square lot.
Keesling said in response to how she handled the ticket, Henry has stripped her of a parking space in the basement garage at Citizens Square. “He believes he holds all the power in this building and can retaliate against another elected official and against a woman,” Keesling said during Monday's news conference, sometimes as she choked back tears.))
Well, Lana, monarchs tend to act that way.
Remember well your Lord Acton.
((In a statement Monday, mayoral spokesman John Perlich characterized the issue as a disagreement between two elected officials.)) Of course he would...he's the royal "mouthpiece". We used to call that ass-kissing in my day.
This whole thing could have been avoided IF his highness was on the BMV like white on rice over the expired tag (which CAN be renewed for another month FOR FREE). Or all the king's men should have called the BMV and asked some questions as to WHY it is taking so long.
The solutions were right there, but his majesty (and his court) didn't act on ANY aspect of them. Suck it up, build a bridge, sire...and GET OVER IT.
*** Next up, time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids did really well yesterday, until around dinner time, when some assholes across the street were bust taking down a shed, to which the noise from axes and power saws spooked Violet, causing Gallifrey to take advantage and eat HER food as well as his own.
Seems you can't catch a break around here when it comes to NOT being bothered, or having your pets bothered.
Still, the balance of the say was undisturbed enough. And the kids had some nice nap time.
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Company"...
I just want to eat and get neck rubs. |
We even had another "visitor" - looked to be one of the two cats I call "the twins" stopped by to nose around.
It's pretty friendly for the most part, but our community cats were more wary.
In fact, Midnight took to chasing the cat away, rather loudly I might add.
This house belongs to ME...and Whiskers. |
*** Last back to the asylum...I could live to be as old as Methuselah (not that I would want to), and I will never totally figure out what motivates some people.
Take those idiots across the street (please)- the property "management" guys that felt the need to tear down a perfectly GOOD shed behind the house, for what appears to be NO good reason.
(they're the ones spooking my cat...morons)
The fence along the property needed fixing, so what did they do? They TORE IT DOWN.
The doors on the shed needed to be secure, so what did they do? They TORE IT DOWN.
Hey, here's an idea, save yourselves any future hassle and just TEAR THE WHOLE DAMN HOUSE AND GARAGE DOWN!
And, to start tearing the shed down around 5 P.M. is just beyond stupid!
It's THIS kinda stuff that makes me wonder WTF is going on with these people.
They hack trees down (again for no reason) and pile wood along the curb for weeks, or they drive all over the lawns, and park anywhere BUT in a driveway OR street (which all of them use for WALKING, rather than using the damn city-provided sidewalks).
It's like all they do is figure out how people are supposed to act...and then do the EXACT OPPOSITE.It's like frigging BIZARRO WORLD!
I sure don't have to wonder WHY our part of town is declining as it has been for the past couple decades.
But, it would be nice if the city looked into such things and decided to SAVE our part of town, making it a revenue PRODUCING area, instead of the revenue DRAINING area it's been allowed to become. Just a thought, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Tortellini? Breakfast? SURE!
See the Parkview Drs Gangs were silent for a change...
"...expected to survive..." Okay, buddy, God gave you ONE LAST CHANCE to repent... up to you now. There might not be a next time.
...although if it had been "suspect Joy Behar" instead of "suspect quentin Smith"...
Well, if there was any doubt that King Tom might not be as petty as the rest of the modern-age Dems...
Okay, a slight interruption for dinner, and we're back!
Well, we will give them the 5 pm for "having just got off work..." (Guess I shoulda started with "BEWARE: spit take ahead"), but as for tearing it down? Either "so we could have more grass that we'll neglect to mow" or "the miniscule amount not having it might save on insurance and prop taxes".
The paragraph after the ODD pic: Sounds alot like the way they manage our woods...
Chris:
---LOL! You must still have the cast-iron stomach I used to have.
---Parkview Posse be like chillin', dawg!
---Yeah, you'd think he'd thank BOTH the cops AND God on that one.
(Behar de har har there)
---That good old boy network IS getting a bit long in the tooth...finally!
---"Just got off work"...to do some (other)work (half-assed at that)...that might do it down here.
BTW, the shed was on a SLAB (that's how well it was built by the folks that USED to live there back before 2000!.
Maybe our "king" could put up another "mini-park"?
---There are those moments when inspiration comes easier than perspiration, my friend.
Thanks for dropping on by today and commenting.
Stay safe (and never ODD) up there, brother.
