I suppose we can kiss the sunshine we had yesterday goodbye for the time being.
And we can say hello to another potential round of rainfall.
I swear there are some days where you CAN actually watch the grass grow, but you have to remember...this IS Indiana.
Our Hoosierland weather today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps climbing to around 81 degrees, and a good chance of rain and thunderstorms  by afternoon, continuing into the evening (and overnight).
And we wonder why we can't get rid of the mosquitoes?

This took place last evening around 2000 hrs in the 9400 blk of Greyhawk Dr. (that's on the NE side for a change).

Police could,not say if the shooting was accidental.
If ruled a homicide, this will be number 22 for the year. And the "hits" keep comin'.
*** Next, a new headlight-tail light law goes into effect in Indiana next month.

This has to do with all the mooks who have colored lights on vehicles. The "stateys" (ISP) are behind this, so I don't know what effect it will have on local municipalities.

Under-car LEDS will be affected only if they can be seen from the front of the vehicle..
If a blue tint headlight is factory equipped on a newer vehicle, that will not be affected.
Nothing said about all the BLOWN OUT lights...typical...LOL.

Seems we have a new paradigm of (aberrant) social behavior in this country, and it does not bode well for people brought up with traditional values. Then again, much of this could be alleviated IF people grew some "thicker skin"...like we all used to have.
Another case for micro-aggressions getting way out of hand.
*** Next, it was the lovely Mrs. Bobby G's birthday yesterday, and naturally, we had to have a cake.

You know you married the right guy when HE takes time to bake you a cake.
And you know you married the right girl when she appreciates it.

The kids did okay yesterday, and managed to not get locked in any closets.
They were enjoying some "laser-pointer" playtime, and I have to admit, that that always gets me smiling.

And of course, they ALWAYS like mealtimes. I just wish they'd stay still long enough to get some candid photos, because they get into :"cute-mode" and you just wish they'd  pose long enough to whip out the camera and get a shot or two. Sometimes, it works out...sometimes.

Our furry twosome were really liking this whole ":not being wet" thing yesterday.

As usual, we had one on patrol, and the other in the "Nam-grass"...like being in country.

They didn't miss a meal (for a change), and even got some hand-held treats as the sun was setting. They seem to prefer that (as do I).
*** Last back to the kitchen sink...when did housing REALLY used to be "affordable"?

I suppose we could go back to before the colonial days, when people sued to BUILD their own houses, barns, etc.

Not much, but it IS a house.

But let's travel a bit forward in time...to when cities were established, and housing was already "in place".

Must be laundry day.

People used to live in apartments in major cities...tenements were the big thing around the industrial revolution era, and yes, proximity to neighbors was forced (and close). Many of the traditional ghettos comprised much of this, but they were mainly filled with Irish, or Italians, or Slavs...whatever. Nothing was guaranteed back then, and there wee NO government "subsidies" to assist with housing.

Mortgaging a house.

You either worked to AFFORD housing, rented and tried to save to get a house, or you slept on the street (or at a flop house). Fortunately most everyone preferred the first of those choices.
Today, with unemployment rates near record LOWS; we see subsidizing of anyone with a good sob story (or ethnic background).
Let's face it, no one really WANTS to work for a living, but...if you want to survive (and in some cases, succeed), you HAVE to be gainfully employed in order to secure housing for you (and your family).
There is always a NEED for housing, but today, it's more about a WANT of housing - the really NICE type of housing that fewer people CAN readily afford. Those are in the developments with perfectly manicured lawns, cookie cutter structures, and winding streets. You know where I mean.

Just like in education (where not everyone is destined for college), when it comes to housing, not everyone will be able to financially be solvent to purchase one of those houses in those nice areas.
Tomorrow, we might delve into some of the alternatives that came about, so in the meantime...
