Monday Musings..
Well, that was one craptastic weekend, as far as the weather goes. Aside from a chunk of yesterday (and a small portion of Saturday), there wasn't much to write home about. It was nice and rainy, and lousy, unless you happened to be a water-loving member of the avian set.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us a continuance of the "mainly dreary" with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers all day (not that it will be raining AS much, if at all), and temps will rise to around 78 degrees.
So, let's cut our losses from the last 48 hours and get ourselves a refreshing beverage to get us running on all cylinders, as we see what else has been going one...
*** First out of the refrigerator is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 23 -
---It's National Vanilla Ice Cream Day
(still got some, and I hope it's not "freezer-burned")
That's all for today, folks.
*** Next up, loks like we have homicide #27) on our hands. Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38697509/man-found-shot-dead-in-parking-lot-at-walgreens-on-north-coliseum-blvd
A man was found by police in the parking lot of a Walgreen's located in the 2400 block of North Coliseum Boulevard around 0013 hrs early this past Saturday morning.
No witnesses were present and police hope a security cam in th area saw something. Naturally, no suspect information is available.
I guess more people prefer Walgreen's' to CVS...at least on the east side of the city when it comes to shooting someone in their car.
*** Next, more shootings in Fort Wayne...this time in our fancy and ever-growing DOWNTOWN area. Here's that story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38697530/1-hurt-after-shooting-near-downtown-fort-wayne-bar
One male was seriously hurt, and another listed in good condition after a shooting near Columbia and Harrison Sts  just before 0250 hrs early Saturday morning.
((Police say it's not clear if the two men were targets or they were shooting at each other.))
Nothing was said about weapons found near where this took place.
But wait...we're not done yet, friends...
*** Next up, a Sunday stabbing session took place on (where else?) the SE side of town.
Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38700335/man-critically-hurt-in-stabbing-on-south-hanna-street
This took place in a parking lot in the 6800 block of Hanna St around  0042 hrs Sunday morning.
((When police arrived on scene, they found two men with stab wounds. They were both okay.
Never said WHICH parking lot, did they?
Officers soon learned of another two men who were stabbed arriving at a local hospital. One was in critical condition, the other in good condition. Police say this all happened after a large fight.))
Now WHY do you suppose a fight broke out?  Someone probably got stupid (as usual), and with some liquid courage tossed into the mix, the results are all too predictable. That's the good thing about such idiots...predictability.
Wonder why police don't patrol areas where large groups gather down here?
*** Next, let's leave the stupid behind us, and take time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
All this rain is really boring.
The kids had a pretty calm weekend, even when we had some thunderstorms.
Something caught her eye.
They do get a might "anxious", but nothing that some play time can't handle to get their minds off of things.
Mostly, there was little to do except (you guessed it)...nap. Even cats can get tired of watching the rain come down. I know I do.
*** Next up, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
I HATE this rain.
Feeding our furry twosome over the weekend was a study in timing - trying to get their food to them when it wasn't raining THAT hard, and making sure the dry food didn't get soggy and float away...heh.
There were those brief times when the rain stopped and that meant time to get out and stretch a bit.
Midnight would wander off for  time, while Whiskers took to a shelter to keep dry.
Lemme know when the rain stops again.
That worked REALLY well for her.
Wow, it's dry under HERE, too.
And, if the hand-held treats time was missed by Midnight, that meant getting his treats later on (and Whiskers getting a double dose, as it were). No one goes hungry or unattended around here.
I
Finally, I get to eat on the table.
t's so much easier when you  can stick to specified times and when the weather decides to cooperate.
*** Last back to the stove top...caring for others can be a challenge at times, but it's much simpler than resorting to fighting and injuring (sometimes killing) others.
As humans, we're "supposed" to be above such behavior (evolved is the proper word here), and yet, we constantly see evidence to the contrary.
We find is easier to harm others rather than help them. We can;t seem to just "let things go" if we're slighted in the smallest of ways, and that always leads to problems on top of more problems.
And, many people seem to be okay with that. Sorry, it's just wrong to maintain such a mindset.
Everyone gets hurt in life, in some way. How we choose to deal with that "hurt" determines who we become, and too often, the wrong choices net the usual results.
Guns aren't the issue and neither are knives or even fists. It ALWAYS comes down to PEOPLE.
Make the right choices and you avoid a LOT of hurt out there.
There IS a caveat.
Choose the other path, and you set yourself up for more problems than you could imagine., And don't cry the blues when that happens. YOUR choice determines YOUR path in life.
Simple solutions to problems that appear complex are the way to go.
Anything else is wasted time and energy.
That you can take to the bank.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Saturday weather: I had to go with KC to look at a truck he was buying, and on the way back, we were wondering whether we'd get home before or after the Tornado (which never came, but boy was it black). We hit St Joe Center and suddenly the cow stepped up onto the flat rock, Noah went floating by, and KC discovered his wipers not only automatically come on, but wipe harder as the rain gets harder. Good thing too- between his inability to close the hood at the place (weenie close job) and his inability to find the gas cap release (you just touch the flap, fool, lol), I doubt he'd have figured out where the wiper switch was before we went through about four cycles of lights!

I remember when Columbia Street was a high class club...

Closing: Very good timing, considering the Canadians, ever so willing to look down their noses at us, had a rampage of their own today...

---Yeah, I followed that on the weather reports. nasty stuff.
---LOL...pretty good descriptions of some of those torrents that came along.
Yeah, those new wipers "adapt" to differing conditions (I'm still trying to find how to turn them on and off in the Wifeymobile...THEY MOVCED THE STALK to the OTHER side - heh).
---The Wifeymobile also has the "press to open" gas filler flap...wonder what happens when THAT breaks? Duct tape?
---HA...I do the same thing when driving the Impala...nothing is where it USED to bloody be!
---Funny thing about what took place in Canada...a problem IGNORED never just "goes away"...doe it?
(usually gets worse)
Like to see changes in their laws to PROTECT their citizens in the big cities - those in the Great White North need not bother...they take car of THEMSELVES well enough..

Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.

Stay safe (and dried out) up there, brother.

Look at those happy kitties! Did you see the Oshkosh event with the Warbirds in Review? Very cool. Thought you might have enjoyed it online. https://www.eaa.org/en/airventure/features-and-attractions/aircraft-areas/warbird-aircraft-area/warbirds-in-review

---Didn't see that Oshkosh review, but I do know they do a FANTASTIC air show yearly.
I will have to check that one out.
Thanks for the link!

And thanks for rolling up to comment.
Always a pleasure.

Stay safe down there, Dear.
