30 November 2018

Friday Follies...
We're sending the month of November packing in fine style...with FOG.
Schools are on delay all over, and that means you want to take EXTRA special care when driving about.
It's already above freezing, so that's good to hear.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps rising to the mid 40s (yes, I said forties), and no real precipitation until nighttime, when the rain come in to soak the first half of the weekend.
Now, how's a bout we grid ourselves with a nice glass, cup, or mug of Friday Fortitude, as we see what's going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the fog bank is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 30 -
---It's Computer Security Day
(well, we can all TRY and have one, can't we?)
---It's National Mason Jar Day
(and you can drink out of them)
---It's National meth Awareness Day
(Fort Wayne has PLENTY of people "aware" of this, believe me)
---It's National Mississippi Day
(well, I'm not from there, so...)
---It's National Mousse Day
(looks just like chocolate pudding to me)
---It's Stay Home Because You're Well Day
(sounds like a good idea)
*** Next, and because we are at the end of the week (and month for that matter), let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
DECEMBER 1 -
---Saturday is Bifocals at the Monitor Liberation Day
(like all that blue light from the monitor isn't harming our eyes already)
---It's the Day Without Art
(aw, geez, another AIDS thing...can the gay stuff be far behind?)
---It's National Eat a Red Apple Day
(not gonna happen, but I might have some applesauce)
---It's National Pie Day
(a wonderful day for pie)
---It's National Rhubarb Vodka Day
(never was that big a fan of vodka in any flavor)
---It's Rosa Parks Day
(the Doctor Who episode came a bit early)
---It's Skywarn Recognition Day
(it ain't falling yet, right?
DECEMBER 2 -
---Sunday is National Fritters Day
(have at it and enjoy)
---It's National Mutt Day
(the 2nd one of the year...he's a good boy)
---It's National Special Education Day
(shouldn't all education be considered special in some way?)
And there we go...enough things to keep one busy and out of the local hoosegow. Just remember to always observe responsibly.
I thought I'd put all the MONTH stuff on Monday's post. let's not clutter things up too much.
*** Next up, well, it looks like we're pushing climate change...again.
(funny, the climate's been changing since GOD created the Earth and heavens)
Here's the latest sky is falling rhetoric:
https://www.wane.com/news/national-world/climate-change-is-more-extensive-and-worse-than-once-thought/1627216282
Weird how we have cleaner water, and cleaner air, and fewer hazards (both man made and natural) and yet, that climate keeps on a'changing despite all this..
I'm willing to bet some folding money that the climate here in Fort Wayne will change a lot just ovr the next 24 hours...by itself.
*** Next, more information on the Cass St. death investigation (that could be homicide #44). Here's the lowdown:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20181130/police-want-to-question-man-in-womans-death
This "person of interest" is Cordell Dewayne Patterson, 22. He's  5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair,
He's already got a mugshot, which means he's been a "friend" of the local judicial system, so my guess (which is often better than the facts of others) is that this could have been another home invasion (the ages are too far apart to be a domestic, but you never know when criminals are involved).
*** Next up, I think we may have found our DUMBASS OF THE WEEK,
See what you think:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/29/94288/
I feel the story is marvelously self-explanatory and demonstrates in no small way WHY we have bad people (posing as parents) raising children today.
Letting a 10 year old drive? Because he was begging to do so?
That's a SPECIAL kind of stupid going on there.
One can conclude that 99 proof alcohol WILL do that to people.
Oh, and for a point of reference, a Chrysler 300 is NOT a Driver's Education vehicle (but it is a decent ghetto sled. Just as the locals who have one).
*** Next, it's time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
That funny tree goes where this chair is.
The kids did really well yesterday, and hopefully, that means we should have less curiosity when the time comes to put up the holiday decorations. That's the plan, anyway.
I know they were messing less with the tree last year, and they didn't knock it over or break any ornaments. We keep reminding them that they might be getting some gifts before year's end. Like they ned MORE, right?
Then, they look at you with a face that says: "Stop screwing around and FEED me"...lol.
*** Next up, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
I left him the BIGGER shelter...sheesh.
Once again, she stayed in the shelter for the better part of the day, and actually took to the smaller shelter. He, on the other hand was roaming about once more (across the street). It's like Whiskers left the larger shelter for HIM to climb inside of. Midnight hasn't quite figured that out yet, but we always hope he will, especially when the weather gets bad.
Sorry, I'm busy "supervising". the camo guy.
And neither one missed a meal (or treats). Midnight got extra treats on the back step when Wifey took some out (he was meowing).
Yeah, they know how to play the two os us.
*** Last back to the family room...I want to leave you with the sage commentary by others.
Here's this week's Bill O'Reilly column and it's something I've mentioned here more than a few times.:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/The-Silent-Threat/-827332994506825569.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
I also often read Kevin Jackson's column (The Black Sphere)...because he's RIGHT. I also enjoy reading about the truth (which IS still out there).
But I came across THIS one which is most timely.
https://theblacksphere.net/2009/02/gm-to-stop-making-cars/
The funny thing...is that THIS column was written...BACK IN 2009!!!
(talk about lightning striking twice, huh?)
What goes around DOES come back around, especially with carmakers and their unions.
Come to think of it, most everything comes back around, sooner or later.
Maybe that's what we mean by someone's DOGMA being run over by someone's KARMA.
Do have a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.
See 'ya next month.

"...and you can drink out of them..." but only 'shine...

Meth Awareness: Gotta agree with you there. A lot of these awareness days should really be un-awareness days...

MOUSSE!!!

Stay home: Yeah, got that one covered!

Trust me, bifocals ain't a cure-all either...

Day without art? A day that FTW looks NORMAL? Wow!

Pie day? If there's any pumpkin pie left. If not, the other box of eclairs awaits...

Pass on the vodka...

For every pro-climate change article out there, there's one on a science site apologizing for fudging the numbers or saying, well that's not happening as fast as we thought. Settled science my ass.

Wow, how is that neglect, the kids never left his sight! POS grow some responsibility.

I hope that Jackson article doesn't surprise you- we've been talking all week how Detroit is the Mecca of not learning from mistakes.

Chris:
---Truth be told, the glasses (really mugs of a sort) are mason jars with handles molded onto them. Next time you're both down, you can have your Pepsi in one.
(but 'shine could work JUST as well)
---Yeah, we're mostly ALL aware of such things. Do we need a day to restate the obvious? Guess so.
---Just make sure it's for dessert and not the HAIR (very important).
---I figured you just might...HA!
---Same can be said for "progressive" lenses (shoulda known whenever THAT word is used...heh)
---Looking normal and BEING normal aren't the same though, are they?
---ANOTHER box of eclairs? You "know a guy", right? Sounds a lot like a "Philly mob deal" there...lol.
---Especially RHUBARB...what's next, celery-flavored vodka?
(no thank you)
---The whole movement is just another one of those "nudges" I mentioned earlier this week.
If we didn't have CO2, all the plants would die off, we'd starve, and be roasted thanks to nothing left blocking the sun's rays...GAME OVER, right? Agreed, settled science.
---These people wouldn't know what responsibility is if it came up and kicked them in their primate heads.
(but I bet he has a kind-hearted smile)
---Nah, the Jackson article didn't surprise me at all...the only thing that did was the fact it took a mere TEN years for GM to basically come FULL CIRCLE...again.
(someone had to be working hard on that)

Thanks for taking time to strop on by today and comment.

Have yourselves a very good weekend.

Stay safe (and dry) up there, brother.
