Tuesday Tidbits...
Okay, so the relatively mild conditions we've been enjoying will be coming to an end by late this afternoon.
Yep, going to feel more like winter, and it's going to be blustery out there.
Does it really surprise us when we live in the Midwest?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly to mostly cloudy skies, temps falling from the upper 40s (which is our high) down into the 30s by nightfall (when it drops into the mid 20s). And be mindful of that increasing winds today...stuff will no doubt be blowing about (like unsecured trash bins). Most likely some branches will be coming down as well, so watch for those on tree-lined streets.
Now, with that finished (for now), let's all get a nice hot beverage, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First up the flagpole is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 8 -
---It's National Argyle Day
(wear 'em if 'ya got 'em)
---It's National Bubble Bath Day
(no, thank you)
---It's National English Toffee Day
(is there any other kind?)
---It's National JoyGerm Day
(another one of those contrived observances)
---It's National Winter Skin Relief Day
(Sorry, my skin is NOT "seasonal")
*** Next, and because it IS a Tuesday, let's look at ALL the FWPD calls that went out last week that we never heard anything about...and SHOULD have:
(be warned, parts of it are lengthy)
FWPD CALLS -

Well, we HAD to have a couple of idiots around for New Years.
*** Next up, some very practical tips to prevent house fires. Here's the story link:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/01/07/3-tips-to-help-protect-your-home-against-fires/
Again, all ANY of this takes is paying a bit of attention to what that furnace is doing, and then doing what's needed as a preventive recourse saves a lot of money in the future.
Also, NO unattended stoves at ANY time of day. Ditto for candles.
Then again, home safety SHOULD be a lot higher on the priority list to many people who not only own a home, but are renting one. Same applies to apartments. Call the landlord if you have to.
The life and personal treasures you save might be your OWN.
*** Next, an excellent Walter Williams column from yesterday:
http://walterewilliams.com/the-worst-enemy-of-black-people/
Amazing how good the truth tastes, when served as it should be (without compronise).
Mr. Williams makes some very cogent statements here (as he usually does).
White liberals (liberalism in general) and the black community equally have served to become the greatest obstacles that ALL blacks have to overcome, especially when it comes to their family structure (or today's LACK of it).
Some sobering statistics from the past as compared to day prove that point perfectly. Well done, sir.
*** Next up, time to drop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
You KNOW I'm cute.
The kids were good yesterday, and didn't find a reason to act up. They did spend some time batting about this glitter ball thingy they got for Christmas. I'm finding that in the hallway, and in other rooms, so it's getting IT'S share of mileage.
Wake me when it's time to eat.
Mealtime is a bit more frenetic, but after a good feeding, it's time to nap a hour or two away. Can't say I blame them there.
*** Next, let's do our check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our own "watch-cat" on the parapet.
Our furry duo spent a good part of the day close by (except when we got some rain). Then it was the "trying to keep dry" show.
Whiskers takes to a shelter (the smaller one, in fact) while Midnight toughs things out wherever he finds a dry place to hunker down (while the larger shelter stays empty).
She likes to nest near the patio door.
We did get in some treats time on the back steps...while it drizzled. It was brief, to say the least.
*** Last back to the barracks...how often have you heard (or used) the term "better late than never"?
If you're like me (and heaven help you...lol) the answer would be a LOT, right?
Well, the latest thing at city council will be the limit to the building of (more) gas stations / convenience stores, especially on the SE side of town. I've talked about this more than a few times here, and it's about damn time something was done.
Also, it's one of the few things that outgoing councilman for our area (Glynn Hines)  and I agree upon.
It's well documented that we have too many gas stations/convenience stores per capita per square mile in the southeast than in two other quadrants combined...yeah, that's too many.
Aside from the fuel (glut), the items inside these stores are overpriced, and the places themselves have been sources of "impromptu revenue" for the armed thug-lifers among us for years.
Just another armed robbery in FTW.
Employees have been shot (and killed) because of such behavior from these morons.
So, yes, let's pull a "better late than never" component out of the city's ass and LIMIT building any new such venues.
It's the tight thing to do...even if it HAS taken 20 years to propose it.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well thanks to the power blowing across the industrail park at 1030, I was home by 11 and walking Scrappy by 1145, and it was starting to get blustery already...

Jot Germ? I know I looked this up last year, but is that a venereal disease?

Winner, best use of Fred Sanford...

Glitter ball- I bet D is playing with it when you ain't lookin'...

I still think, though, if they think that a certain kind of business brings crime to an area, they are kidding themselves. Of course, King Henry's solution seems to be have NO business in the area...

Chris:
---Looks like you found some unexpected time to spend wisely (and Scrappy gets to see what all the wind is about).
I'd call that a win-win.
(just don't advise your bosses to get a backup power supply)
---It has to do with spreading happiness as readily as germs spread (circa 1981)
I think many people have already been "immunized" if you get my drift...heh.
---I thought Fred was MOST appropriate for that (and so did he).
---Not really, but I admit to having flashbacks to polyester and the Bee Gees...HA!
---To paraphrase Loki in The Avengers: "...and he's doing a marvelous job."
(as did his majesty's predecessors back to Win Moses)
Seems ignorance has been bliss for that long when it comes to the SE side.
Oh, to change the course of THAT bit of history, hmm?

Thanks much for stopping by and commenting.

Stay safe (and not too wind-blown) up there, brother.
