This weekend was a MAJOR change from a week ago here in our city, wasn't it?
The down side to the more comfortable temps as the fact we had a crapload of melting going on, and everything was saturated more than normal. Luckily, what melted didn't wind up re-freezing.
At least with the snow, you have someplace to put it...can;t say the same for water, right? It's just ponds on the lawns and streets.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, a chance of light rain later in the day, and a high of around 54 degrees. I think we can live with that.
(and I better NOT see any mook out there wearing shorts). This is what mom used to call "pneumonia weather".
Now, let's all get ourselves a refreshing morning drink to shake the cobwebs out of our heads, as we see what else has been going on, hmm?
*** First off of the thawed patio is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 4 -
---It's National Create a Vacuum Day
(that should be easy from a politically left standpoint)
---It's National Football Hangover Day
(if you didn't get dumb with alcohol...right?)
---It's National Hemp Day
(and we used to think it was April 20th...silly us)
---It's National Homemade Soup Day
(mom was really great when it came to this)
---It's Thank a Mail Carrier Day
(well, they do a good job, in spite of having the USPS running in the RED every year)
*** Next, a SE side shooting notches the FIRST homicide in Ft. Wayne:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/1-dead-after-shooting-on-gaywood-dr/1748720648
This took place around 2045 hrs in the 4400 block of Gaywood Drive (definitely the ghettohood).
One man was found by police with gunshot wounds near the intersection of Senate and Gaywood.
He was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later died.
*** Next up...And, there was also THIS:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/man-in-serious-condition-after-shooting-on-lillie-st/1751146973
This took place Sunday around 2000 hrs in the 2600 block of Lillie St (again, in the ghettohood).
One man was shot and taken to hospital in serious condition. Police say they have a suspect in custody.
Sure doesn't take much to get the "natives" restless, does it?
*** Next, we also had other forms of "fun" in the Summit City, like this:
https://www.wfft.com/content/news/Person-seriously-hurt-in-stabbing--505279001.html
The stabbing took place in the 1100 block of High St (NOT in the ghettohood, amazingly), around 0915 hrs Sunday morning.
The victim was taken to hospital in serious condition, and no other details were forthcoming.
Not too far from there and around 0930 hrs yesterday, police surrounded a house in the 900 block of St. Mary's Av. n the report of s suicide threat.
*** Next up, we were supposed to get a trash pickup Saturday (due to last week's hellacious weather.
Missed us Saturday. |
But, they DID roll through SUNDAY, which surprised me (had to haul the bin back out). I didn't expect them to work yesterday, but Wifey said because they missed a couple days last week, it made sense to accrue the lost hours for the week.
In any event, mission accomplished there.
*** Next, let's segue into something better,as we drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
"Hey, kids, the Kitten Bowl is on..." |
Both of them took turns in my chair in the living room (guess it's not really MY chair any longer...heh), and although I tried to get them to watch the Kitten Bowl on TV...I could not keep their attention on the screen (even with a laser pointer helping out).
Aside from that, well-behaved cats ruled the weekend here.
*** Next up, let's do our check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"I'm tired of ALL this cold out here." |
Thing is, the patio was well-soaked and I had to feed them where I could find a less wet spot (not easy). The rugs I used were wet, and I had to dry them out.
"At least these people take care of us." |
Whiskers stayed in the shelter, and I suspect HE did as well, because he smelled like the straw I use in both of those shelters. I can hope that was the case.
We even got some back-step treats last evening, which meant more time with them both.
*** Last back to the soggy lawn...I'm relieved that LAST week is behind us.
I mentioned to the Lovely Mrs. Bobby G. before the sub-zero temps left, that "as soon as it gets warmer...you watch. The locals will start their shooting crap", and by God, it happened as predicted. Right on cue, as it were.
So, now, we start the clocks and place our bets as to HOW MANY homicides we'll have THIS year in Ft. Wayne.
I have to say that these "people" (and I use the word loosely) are very predictable.
Even though we got off to a delayed start, I'm sure these assholes will make up for "lost time" and we could well see another 40 homicides this year.
(How's that 10-point coalition deal working out so far?)
I really want to believe that our society can do better than this kind of crap.
And I really don't like to see my beliefs being dashed by the dumbasses around us.
There is a myriad of things these idiots can do other than flex their testosterone, and prove how much of a "man" they think they are. And yet, these primates choose to demonstrate how devolved they are in an evolved society.
We should all be working together to make things better for everyone. It's not a circle-sitting, kumbaya-chanting thing...it's just the right thing to do because we should be trying to become better than we were the day before...
In that, there is hope for the future, and we'll be spening a lot of time there, won't we?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Homemade beef stew is in the slow cooker, as we write.
Be safe out there, too. Is David Tennant watching out for you?
Susan:
---You reminded me of another dish mom made.
Yep, she made her OWN beef stew, and with whatever was left over, she made a pie crust and added the leftover beef stew.
Homemade POT PIE.
I really miss that, too.
---I'd like to think David Tennant and I are kindred spirits...heh.
Thanks for stopping by today (and making me hungry...lol).
Stay safe out there.
So did Susan mean he's looking over you in a good way, or that he needs to be careful crossing the timestream in front of you?
That game last night wasn't worth wasting alcohol on! I watched my Blackhawks win Saturday night with my beer... the only thing that kept me up for the whole game last night was a co-worker who kept putting up memes about the lack of scoring on FB ("If I wanted to watch a bunch of guys fail to score for three hours... I would just take my buddies to the bar").
I looked at WANE.com Sunday morning and said, "Bob fodder..." Was there a full moon?
Speaking of trash, consider this (queue up Twilight Zone music"... there is a company... in previous years, there has been a big problem with getting trash dumpsters picked up... at the height of the season, trash can pile up for days as dumpsters get filled almost immediately. Now, add another shift and two more cutters... but DON'T change the amount of pick-ups... it becomes a recipe for....
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Yep, that's Dowco.
KC took me out for lunch yesterday. So it was that I only caught the second half of Puppy bowl... and at least 2 3rd quarter scores were "audio only..."
...but the halftime show still beat Moron 5...
The closing: "When the intelligencia is stupid, how much more the dregs..."

Chris:
---Now you got me wondering if he IS looking over me, or OVERLOOKING me...HA~!
(the timestream gig sounds plausible)
---LMAO on the men failing to "score"...good one.
(and that's why I will not watch and waste my alcohol)
---Bob-Fodder...LOL. Yeah, leave it to the "locals". It's never ending.
---That's something I talked to Wifey about...BUSINESS dumpster pickups (Republic) and how they must be "dealing" with weather and added flotsam to convey to the nearest landfill.
That's something I think each business has to settle up with Republic on an "as need" basis.
---(snickers)...the Puppy Bowl Halftime show WOULD be better, and the Kitten Bowl wasn't shabby either. (with not too many puns this year).
(Moron 5...LOL!)
---Very good quote and most appropriate.
I'm surprised I don't get whiplash from shaking my head at the idiots SO damn often.
Hey, thanks for stopping by to comment.
Stay safe (and enjoy the weather while you can) up there, brother.
