My first thought this morning is when will the rain stop and how much of it will freeze later tonight?
I did hear a total rainfall amount of over an inch. Add that to ALL the snow that's melted.
Our Hoosierland for today brings us...RAIN (big surprise) with obviously cloudy skies, and a little fog in some places.
Temps will rise to around FIFTY-EIGHT DEGREES (that's 5-8), BUT (uh,oh) tonight we will plummet to below freezing (again) into the teens.
Talk about weird weather (well it IS Indiana).
Now, let's get that comforting beverage to start our day, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the rising river is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"The media does play a vital role in our democracy, and if we cannot depend on journalistic ethics, the nation's in trouble."
This was spoken by David Brat (born July 27, 1964) who is the dean of the Liberty University School of Business. He served as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 7th congressional district from 2014 to 2019.
And here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Brat
I found the read to be pretty good, considering I'm not really into politics.
While it's not a "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" moment, it does show how divisive some part of our government have become.
Where's the Pelosi/Schumer pink slips? |
*** Next, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 7 -
---It's National Fettuccine Alfredo Day
(Michellina's does a good job with that)
---It's National periodic Table Day
(I STILL cannot find Adamanitum OR Vibranium on there)
---It's National Send a Card To a Friend Day
(at 55 cents per stamp, it does get costly real fast)
*** Next up, here's one MORE reason NOT to like Pelosi)
https://www.theblaze.com/news/nancy-pelosi-favorite-bible-verse
That's the trouble with such people...terminal stupidity and a lack of knowledge.
Remember when she said that her favorite "word" was...THE WORD?
I think she suffers from a few ailments that are being covered up (aside from cranial-rectal inversion).
*** Next, here's a novel idea (long past it's time, IMHO)
https://www.theblaze.com/news/alabama-official-public-hangings-cop-killers
PUBLIC hanging...the way we USED to do it. That sure sends a very straight forward message to criminals.
Worked well for the Lincoln conspirators. |
*** Next up, it seems this murderer wants to "wiggle off the hook", as it were:
www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20190207/gag-order-sought-in-death-of-boy-5
If you recall, he first wanted the venue moved away from Fort Wayne. Now, the attorney wants a gag order on the records, because they detail abuse this 5-year old endured at the hand of this animal, one Daniel Pope.
Pope has been charged with murder an aggravated battery in this case.
Any bets that a plea deal is lurking close by?
*** Next, how long have many of us been waiting for THIS?
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20190206/city-leaders-discuss-options-to-combat-crime
Yes, cameras in crime hot spots IS a good idea, as are technologies to determine where gunshots are coming from.
Funny, I mentioned such things like gunfire detectors back on 25 April 2016 or (even further back) on 23 June 2011.
Check these archive posts, as the tech has been around for a while..
*** Next up, and from the "Well, this sure sucks" department)
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/02/06/glenbrook-sears-store-to-be-torn-down-redeveloped-new-apartments-and-shigs-in-pit-also-planned/
Tear it down...to put up a STRIP MALL? W...T...F...!
Why not REPURPOSE the damn building? Tearing it down makes no damn sense.
Oh, but then again...this IS Fort Wayne (I keep forgetting)...lol.
*** Next, time to drop by "Kitten Corner"...
Hey, there's toys in HERE, too. |
There was also the grocery bag and a couple jingle balls to knock about.
I think daddy needs to fill the feeder. |
All in all, they behaved themselves quite well, and that's always a a welcome thing.
*** Next up, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Nice and dry under here |
Can't eat up heee when it rains, right? |
*** Last back to the floodplain...it never fails to amuse me when I see how people act.
When they act proper'y and appropriately, they are fantastic. But, when they act inappropriately and seek to harm others, they are reprehensible.
Yes, mankind is a study in some major contrasts, and while we all have some contrasting traits, keeping them under our own control helps makes our lives better (as well as society).
When Ben Franklin said EVERYTHING in moderation, he just wasn't talking about food and drink...oh, no.
He was speaking to the bigger picture...he was taking about our actions How we treat one another has always been important to the evolution of any society, and old Ben knew that.
I've never come across anyone who did things in excess without repercussions.
As a people, we can always do better, and perhaps that means do less to achieve more.
Everything in moderation...sounds like a damn good plan.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Ad (Adamantium) and Vb (Vibranium) are closely guarded government secrets.
Y'know, I read the Pelosi article last night, and I thought, "A lot of us have problems getting verses right, especially those who rarely peruse the Bible." If my pastor was misquoting, I'd be worried. Pelosi? Big deal. She had the sentiment in mind, and like I replied to the person who posted the article, "I'm much more concerned by her inability to live the sentiments."
"...I think she suffers from a few ailments that are being covered up..." But not quite as many as RBG.
Public hangings... I believe the record will show that I have made that exact suggestion in your archives...
Tech: All the tech in the world won't replace more, better, HUMAN police work.
FTW: League leader in abandoned parking lots...
"I've never come across anyone who did things in excess without repercussions...." And mine are attached to the last couple of marcos Pizza slices I shoulda saved for later...
Chris:
---Apparently SO guarded they never add it to the chart...!
(Ad and Vb...got it. What's their atomic number anyway? Just curious)
---Oh, she CAN (sort of) "talk the talk" alright...and yes, her MAJOR problem is not being able to "walk the walk"...so much for humility.
---Maybe not, but she seems to be catching up to Hillary, and then...RBG.
--- I don't doubt it one bit...just wanted to get it out there again.
(think of the concession revenues alone...heh)
---Granted, but we have to be able to "work around" all the (leftist) legalese that constantly strives to STRIP police powers from those WE HIRE to protect us...we need some middle ground these days.
---And that is certainly NO fantasy league there, right?
---I know what you're talking about...I hate when I do that...LOL.
(and wish I hadn't)
That's why I STILL have ONE Bavarian cream-filled powder donut left from a pkg of four (still fresh after almost 2 weeks). That's for TOMORROW's dessert.
Thanks much for spending some time here to comment.
Stay safe (and relatively dry) up there, brother.
Oh, Nancy, Nancy, Nancy.
Her recent comment: "It's really quite a sad thing when you know that we'll be talking about something that applies to the health and life--health and ability to have other children of women." She defended new laws that legalized late-term abortions.
Line of presidential succession is Vice President, Speaker of the House, president pro tempore of the Senate. Sooo, that means that Nancy Pelosi is 2nd in line if something happens to the President.
Scares the hell outta me.
With new ownership of the substantial acreage that sears owned at Glenbrook, the unsettled maintenance of the all important Mall Road. Recall that there was a single owner, Landau & Heyman, for Glenbrook Commons and Glenbrook Square back in 2003. Olive Garden and Cheddars and the Glenbrook Theater were also part of the mall property.
General Growth bought only the mall, passed on the Commons purchase and tore down the movie house. But documents never were drafted with the new Commons owners, the restaurants on Coliseum, Sears and GGP. So GGP got stuck with Mall Rd, the runoff pond and some parking lot lights not on GGP property. My guess is that Brookfield Properties which now owns the mall has no idea about this complication.
As for the Sears building, it never matched the mall and the renovations to bring it into the 21st century will be as costly as putting up a new strip mall. Lest we forget, this huge mall is very close to losing both of its remaining anchors - so then what happens? The internet sales tax will not save these brick and mortar monsters. The biggest loser may well be Allen County, which overtaxes the property and its tenants.
Susan:
---I know. This whole (very) late term abortion sickens me, because they can't execute killers but they can arbitrarily slaughter infant still in the womb.
Sorry, but this bugs me a LOT.
I'll bet these people just LOVE Margaret Sanger.
Yes, it scare the hell out of me as well...and it should bother most everyone.
Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Stay safe out there.
Gadfly:
---And that's why I ALWAYS enjoy your comments...you bring the truth to the table and with facts few (if any) people really know about.
It would appear that with all this buying and selling going on, we have a case of "too many chefs in the kitchen".
Even I didn't know the properties were split up like this and sold around so much.
(but I do remember when they had the movie house there).
Thanks for clearing the air on this. You should let some media sources know, because they seemingly didn't come forward with near as much facts.
And thanks for commenting.
Stay safe (and well-informed) out there.
