Humpday Happenings...
The "Great Midwest Warmup" continues today.
But, it's not without some bumps in the road.
(like you were expecting otherwise?)
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us cloudy skies, temps rising to around FIFTY-SEVEN (that's 57) degrees, and yes...RAIN (not snow) during a good part of the day.
Well, that should make the already soggy ground even soggier.
Take care out there. People will think they can drive like the idiots they actually are, and that usually means trouble on the roads. An ounce of prevention time, boys and girls.
Now, let's settle back with a nice comforting beverage, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the trash-strewn alley is the WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Socialism and Communism are extremely attractive to a superficial observer. It is not until you get into the details, or actually experience it, that it becomes apparent that it does not work."
Maybe the youth of our nation should read up on what they "feel" they want, because of we're all not careful, they just might get it, and then decide they were wonderfully wrong.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in  Budapest, Hungary...
"** Next, time for the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 13 -
---It's National Coconut Torte Day
(close enough to cake for me)
---It's National Earmuff Day
(where were you LAST week?_
---It's National Good Samaritan Day
(as hard to find down here as a good neighbor)
---It's National Jewel Day
(wonder how many minority girls are named after them?)
---It's National K-9 Veterans Day
(They're all GOOD dogs)
---It's National Open an Umbrella Indoors Day
(only to dry it out, otherwise it's bad luck)
---It's National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day
(...lol...like I need any of those folks)
*** Next up, another very good Walter Williams article regarding "climate change":
http://walterewilliams.com/our-planet-is-not-fragile/
Mr Williams is correct again...the case has been made with Krakatoa...more than once, as well as Mt. Etna, and Mt.St. Helens.
Couldn't control THAT by using less fossil fules, or placing solar panels or wind farms across the world, could we?
Man v. nature: the SMART money's on NATURE...every time.
*** Next up, knife control in the UK...thanks to Walmart:
https://www.theblaze.com/news/walmart-knife-control-britain-guns
Guess the crims across the pond will start using pool cues or scissors?
*** Next, here's another "pot calling the kettle black" situation:
https://www.theblaze.com/news/jeff-zucker-fox-news-propaganda
Let's face facts...damn near EVERYONE is involved with SOME level of propaganda. There's just no escaping all of it.
Some of it is good for you...other parts...not so much.
There IS such a thing as positive propaganda (like what the USA used to instill higher levels of PATRIOTISM during WW2), and that's typically based in FACTS (it's just embellished a little).
The BAD propaganda is that which takes you AWAY from the truth with manufactured "facts", that, without verification (on your own) can often make people more susceptible to having their minds changed (1930s Germany).
*** Next up, seems Fort Wayne still has no short supply of idiots. Case in point:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/offensive-yard-sign-directed-at-neighborhood-code-enforcement/1844374749
NCE is the BAD guy here? I don't think so.
Just looking at David Glaser's property near Reed Rd.and Lake Ave, it looks like he needs to clean some (or all) of that crap the hell up.
And yes, have a HOUSE NUMBER on the property, just in case police or fire EVER have to come save your sorry ass.
They might want to know WHERE you live,.
If you've been on NCE's radar since 1999, you might want to think about your "lifestyle"...(moron).
*** Next, time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Wow, it's REALLY bright outside.
The kids were a lot better yesterday. They spent most of the day napping, which means they typically spend most of the evening running about.
Only cats can sleep in positions like this.
But, there is ALWAYS time for a "cat nap".
After a 1/2 hour of snoozing, it's time to play some more.
*** Next up, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Good job with the mail...time for treats.
Our furry duo had another good day, which will change with today's rain, no doubt.
Midnight was nearby most all day (a brief patrol before lunch). And he had to walk me to and from the mailbox, but at least he follows me back across the street and climbs on the front steps.
Yay! It's not cold, or snowy, or wet!
Whiskers was alongside the house ALL day, and I actually had to wake her up for treats...lol.
Little furball was curled up and seriously sleeping (God bless her).
These two bring as much contentment as our two indoor cats
*** Last back to the box office...looks like Captain Marvel is a HUGE hit.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/box-office-captain-marvel-zooms-past-500m-global-ticket-sales-1194085
Close to $500 MIL? Already? That some SERIOUS take, no matter how you cut it. It has clearly beat out any and all other premieres of late. (and it's not even summer)
Plus, it definitely PROVES that we're ready for a female superhero.
Now...all we need is for AVENGERS - ENDGAME to beat the previous movie's take of $257+ MIL for it's opening, then all will be well throughout the realm...heh. I'm betting it WILL.
Perhaps the world NEEDS heroes more than many of us realize, even if they are fictitious.
You have to admit that it DOES help promote a better sense of HOPE.
And THAT we can ALWAYS use.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

So we beat the rain with our walk this morning... not by much, though. Beat the warm-up too, unfortunately.

Quote: And from that point on, it's only supported by the unscrupulous asses that realize that, having no soul, they can profit from it.

BOOO coconut!

Williams- your take: Not to mention the solar flares bigger than any in our memory, which they now say hit the earth several times...

Knives: From the land that gave us Luke James...

Propaganda: And yet, Dick Florea got put (far too late) into the Indiana News HOF. No one deserved it more.

NCF: Way to deflect from your responsibility...

Cpt Marvel: Serves all those early trolls right...

Big battle with the computer last night. Had to un/re install both Norton and Google chrome, 4 restores and 5 reboots, and still my desktop icons are crippled. Still, back to functional, and only a unused plastic coathanger was harmed in the process (giving its life to keep my head from going through a wall.)

Chris:
---Glad you got the walk in, and the warmup is coming (along with all those satin shorts worn by the "locals").
I could feel drizzle coming before 8 o'clock (and so did the furry twosome).
---Quote - Yes, it certainly DOES!
---C'mon...coconut is good (as long as you're not stuck on some God-awful deserted island).
---Yes, and with those flares comes a major hit on our magnetosphere (which in turn can also WARM the globe)...amazing how REAL science works, isn't it?
(Neil Tyson - take note)
---It's not the UK we USED to know, that's for SURE!!!
---Can't say I recall Florea (that was before my arrival here), but from what I read about him...he WAS a (true) JOURNALIST and had a pretty large following because of that. A shame what happened to WKJG since.
---Sure, blame Neighborhood Code for "your" slovenly ability to comply with extremely SIMPLE ordinances.
I'd bet neighbors dimed on him to KEEP their (nice) neighborhood from deteriorating into what OURS has become.
That's called being RESPONSIBLE, and this dimbulb might wanna get with that program.
---YES IT DOES....bwahahahahaaaaa.
---Computer woes...sign of our times, unfortunately.
When you pretty much "have" to wind up replacing the whole damn thing within less than 8 years (or live on borrowed time), there is something inherently WRONG with that technology.
Thank you Microsoft, Google, and every other O/S or program that winds up with more bugs in it than a damn BAIT SHOP!

Thanks for spending sometime here today and commenting.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and hopefully bug-free) up there, brother.

The cats have the right idea Curled up in a chair in the sun must be a heaven for your cat!

Peter Capaldi was superb as Dr. Who. What's her name Whitaker is not, at all!

Susan:
---Yep, the kiddos have the life, don't they?
---I honestly ENJOYED Capaldi as The Doctor (almost as much as David Tennant, Tom Baker and Matt Smith).
I've tried to give Jodie the benefit of the doubt, but maybe I'm too "old school" in today's uber-tolerant and over-inclusive world...heh.

Thanks for commenting.

Be well out there.
