Well, spiritually-speaking, this Friday is better than the rest, but weather-wise...it's sitting right on top of the LOUSY bin.
You might want to take along the umbrella today, and you will also need to pay attention while driving (as if you don't already).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us cloudy skies and early rain, then a brief respite until the rain returns later today into tonight and even into early tomorrow, with a high only around 44 degrees.
The only thing worse than rain itself, is a COLD rain, right?
It will also be a tad on the breezy side, so take note of that as well.
Now, let's get a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa to chase the chill away, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the coat closet is our "What, pray tell is going on today, Bob?" feature:
(no cussing on Good Friday)
APRIL 19 -
---It's Good Friday
It's also the start of PASSOVER. |
---It's National Amaretto Day
(probably my favorite liqueur and a great mixer)
---It's National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day
(let's see...bourbon, scotch, rum...oh, you mean that OTHER medicine cabinet)
---It's National Garlic Day
(no vampires stopping by)
---It's National Hanging Out Day
(in this rain, are you nuts?)
---It's National North Dakota Day
(I think they're done digging out from the last week's snow)
---It's National Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day
(how could we ever forget?)
*** Next up, and since the end of the week has arrived, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours:
APRIL 20 -
---Saturday is National Auctioneer's Day
(going once...twice...SOLD!)
---It's National Cheddar Fries Day
( I like fries and cheddar cheese, just not together)
---It's National Lima Bean Respect Day
(I respect them by NOT eating them)
---It's National Look Alike Day
(sorry, I'm too busy looking like myself)
---It's National Pineapple Upside Down Cake
(they ever make a right-side-UP version?
APRIL 21 -
---Sunday is EASTER
(guess you figured that out already)
---It's National Chocolate Covered Cashews Day
(never had them, but I'd love to try them)
---It's National Kindergarten Day
(on a Sunday...that makes NO sense at all, and I never attended)
---It's National Yellow Bat Day
(It's a Vietnam war kinda thing)
And there we go then...plenty of things to keep one busy and out of the local jail. Just remember to ALWAYS observe responsibly.
*** Next, and in case you thought that vandalism in French churches was anything "new", here's some fun facts::
https://amgreatness.com/2019/04/16/notre-dame-fire-comes-amid-huge-wave-of-anti-christian-church-desecrations-and-arsons-throughout-france/
So, let's keep things in context when we talk about the recent blaze that took down a good part of Notre Dame in Paris. Fate strikes again? We'll see.
*** Next up, and speaking of FIRES, we had one along Decatur Rd Thursday morning. Here's the lowdown:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/18/restaurant-damaged-after-thursday-morning-fire/
This took place at the Summit Market "strip mall", and was believed to have started in a Thai restaurant there. It was quickly extinguished.
Weird, how not that long ago, there was another fire at the Twin Brothers Auto Glass place right nearby.
Might we have a arsonist? Would not surprise me.
*** Next up, time once again for my "What on God's green earth has Bob bought on eBay NOW?"
Okay, so you know that the MCU has been raking in the cash this year (just wait until next week), and that means action figure-mania. Never let it be said that I'm not up to the task of acquiring a couple new ones.
First, I managed to snag the 3.75 inch Captain Marvel figure set (with comic book).
This comes with TWO versions - the movie figure (Carol Danvers) as well as the original figure from the late 60s comic books (Mar-Vell) of the Kree race. And that didn't even cost $10...yes a bargain, considering I never saw it in stores.
The other figure is the 6 inch Marvel Legends Captain America from the upcoming movie: Avengers - Endgame.
While not wearing the usual red, white, and blue uniform, he is wearing something being called a "Quantum Realm" suit.
This was a bit pricier, and cost about $16 (which is STILL at least $4 bucks under retail). Many places are charging more than $20, so yes, we can also call this a bona fide bargain.
Other figures of this group have similar outfits, so I can only conclude that Hank Pym and Ant-Man have something (major) to do with the plot-line for the movie, which makes sense, if you're up to speed with the former MCU flicks.
*** Next, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
No, Sweetie, grocery shopping is Saturday. |
Gallifrey got a case of the crazies early on, so out came "Mr Squirt Bottle" and he got doused.
Finally calmed back down. |
Aside from that, the rest of the day passed without incident.
*** Next up, let's do our check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Hey, he's missing lunch again." |
But, they both had that old car carpet to sit on while they ate, so their paws got a chance to dry off.
"But, I AM back here for dinner." |
Well, I added them in their bowls after dinner with some dry food (for overnight munchies). That seemed to go over well.
*** Last back to the hat rack...okay, so the Mueller Report is over with, and the conclusion was what we pretty much expected.
No collusion, and our president is not a Russkie spy. That means we're done with this two year "investigation", right?
Not hardly, according to the left...they STILL want their "pound of flesh".
I'd tell 'em all to just go POUND SAND.
Harvard is selling COPIES of this. |
A little over 400 pages...and the final cost to taxpayers (get ready):
$25 MILLION BUCKS!
That's $62,500 PER PAGE.,,!
(wish I could have gotten that for a few of my high school book reports...heh)
Man, if this wasn't a HOLY day, I'd have some very CHOICE words to describe this fiasco.
There comes a time when whatever bugs you just is no longer worth the time and effort to chase after things that are not there.
You cut whatever losses you have and MOVE FORWARD in life.
There is a lesson to be learned here, if only those who are blind to it could be made to SEE it.
We all go through times and trials and we either move on, or we succumb to the problem, wasting our life in the process.
Sometimes we can revisit the problem, if we have a clear mind and a fresh manner to approach it.
Everything has it's own solution, and once in a while,. the best solution is to leave it be.
Life is too short and precious to waste on that which we cannot control, and cannot find an answer for.
(that's why we have GOD)
Our problems are HIS problems, and our solution is giving things over TO HIM. Pretty basic in concept.
And therein lies the lesson for the day.
Do have yourselves a good (and Blessed) weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.
We'll see you here next week.

Not a Good Friday for Amaretto, especially the bottle in the medicine cabinet, it smells like garlic, even after hanging out in North Dakota; it would be like getting bombed in Oklahoma City...
(Now I see how they come up with those spam comments, lol!)
I went to kindergarten. Never on Sunday...
Notre Dame: Not to mentioned the guys they picked up NYC, one with gas cans ready to enter the church, and another on his way to Europe...
That Thai food would do anyone like that...
"...and the Carol Corps"??? WTF?
Cats got it in the bag...
Squirt bottle: Scrappy would be impervious. Maybe even like it.
CHRIS:
---Only YOU could come up with THAT way to cover the days...AND make me laugh in the process.
Nicely done.
---KG wasn't a "necessity" the way it has become today. Most all of us were just dropped off in 1st grade. Kinda like being tossed in the deep end of the pool - sink or swim time.
---Yeah...how about THAT?
Copy-catters or part of a larger "cabal"? Be nice if we could find out.
---I heard Thai food IS kinda "hot"...heh.
---Hey, I just GET the figures...if it comes w/ a comic...fine. That series has been in print since 2015 (issue #2 is the one in the figure set). Looks like a limited run.
---She likes it in there...plays "you can't find me now".
---The way Scrappy likes water, it wouldn't surprise me.
Gallifrey gets the message, though.
Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Have yourselves a safe and blessed weekend and Easter up there, brother.
