One might say we have a decent weekend her in the Hoosier state. I would tend to say we had HALF a good weekend.
yesterday just plain craptastic. We had cold and windy, we had rain, and we even got a wee touch of snow later on into the night. Sounds EXACTLY like April in Indiana...heh.
Fortunately for us, things will even back out for this, our Holy Week.
Our Hoosierland weather brings us a cessation of the rain (and snow), and although it's close to freezing at 0700 hrs, our high will top out in the low 50s.
I hear we'll even see the return of something called SUNSHINE. I think we can handle that, even if it IS a Monday.
So, let's get that comforting beverage poured and parked nearby, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the coffee table is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 15 -
---It's National Education and Sharing Day
(as long as it's EDUCATION...and not INDOCTRINATION)
---It's National Glazed Spiral Ham Day
(that sure looks good...for breakfast with some eggs)
---It's National Rubber Eraser Day
(eradicating our mistakes for generations)
---It's National Take a Wild Guess Day
(about WHAT, precisely?)
---It's National Tax Day
(actually EVERY day is "tax" day, but today your tax FORMS are due)
---It's National Titanic Remembrance Day
(wonder if that errant iceberg had anything to do with climate change?)
*** Next up, looks like another FTW killer is caught out of state
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/arrest-made-in-fatal-shooting-suspect-found-in-tennessee/1921634810
GOTCHA! |
That's some pretty expedient police work...nice job.
*** Next, and while we're on the subject of catching black male shooters, we have another arrest:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/fwpd-make-an-arrest-in-a-shooting-investigation/1921644917
Nice neck tatts, gangsta. |
*** Next up, been a busy weekend for the FWPD:
- A dead body was found in a field:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/13/investigation-underway-after-body-found-in-field/
This took place around 0940 hrs in the 3300 block of Oakwood Dr.
The location is off of Hessen Cassel Rd. and very SE.
- Another house was shot into early Saturday morning.
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/fwpd-investigate-shooting-on-suttenfield-street-early-saturday/1922997055
This took place in the 500 block of East Suttenfield Street around 0043 hrs. Saturday. One woman was listed in serious condition.
This is on the upper SE side. Never a dull moment, is there?
*** Next, did you get an "IMSmart" flyer in the mail?
If you did, be VERY careful here. Don't bite at the "dangling carrot".
Here's what they have on their website:
https://www.electricideas.com/home/imhome
Imagine that...AEP can determine how YOU should live now...sound familiar?
How about those "smart meters" I talked about here years ago?
Check my archive post from 29 January 2013 for a "refresher course".
(BTW, the J-G link is no good...local media tends to purge their pages too often and too soon. The Beck and Metadigm links work)
*** Next up, time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
"You want me to change the channel?" |
Violet is getting into the habit of climbing up onto me while I'm on the sofa. She goes right to sleep as well, and you can hear her purr. Well, that just causes me to nod out, and miss what I was trying to watch on the television.
"I'm beat from looking out all those windows." |
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Saturday was REALLY nice out here." |
"I know...it was worth a HUZZAH, even." |
They were fed under he patio table (where it stayed relatively dry), and they did get some back step treats (in the cold drizzle).
"But Sunday was cold, rainy and breezy" |
*** Last back to the family room...anyone else get the feeling that our political scene is becoming more like a carnival sideshow lately?
I think we're only missing the sword-swallowing swami and the dog-face boy (who would most likely ALSO be running for president, I'd wager).
There used to be a modicum of sensibility and an air of purpose when we used to see and hear presidential candidates.
I'm not seeing all that much THESE days.
It's more about "who can outdo the next" with whatever "gimmick" they can come up with.
I told Wifey that it's become a sort of perverse political "America's Got Talent" kinds deal anymore.
Seems controversy sells in D.C., especially if it's anything close to being COUNTER-American.
Sure, they all SAY they want a better nation, but when you pull the curtain back, you find they stand for little if any of the values that helped found and grow this country.
And God forbid you honk off some fringe group by speaking the truth. That goes without saying.
I would like to see less of the "millionaire club" running for office and more of the AVERAGE AMERICAN, who knows this nation better than those in the ivory towers. At least Trump didn't have to become a SENATOR to make HIS millions.
Every candidate has got a war chest that middle class America can only dream about.
Our founders were all people with a strong work ethic, had their own businesses and would not be lumped into a 1% group of rich-asses. They grew up knowing the value of a dollar
And they knew the value of a free and united people. Can we say the same today?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I wonder what Pelosi's face looks like on Christmas morning.
We had a cat we called Midnight. He was a big tom, and a survivor.
Even 100 years after, Titanic still captures our imagination and memories.
Susan:
---LOL...gee, now there's a visual image mu mind's eye will never be able to UNSEE...!
---I think the one we have is also a survivor.
At least he KNOWS where the food and love can be found.
---The stories behind that tragedy will always be remembered, that's for sure.
Bob Ballard made as much history FINDING her as the ship made after it's sinking.
Fate surely played it's hand.
Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.
Be well out there.
To Susan's question: I'm betting something like the Grinch when he got that evil idea.
For me, having ham next to rubber erasers is a bit amusing, as long as I don't have to eat either one...
About what? Take a wild guess!
A flyer in the mail doesn't stand a snowballs chance around here...
Cats: Well, Scrappy has changed the channel once or twice (by butt), and he DID fall out of bed Friday night...
I saw "blockhead" in the close and remembered I have to tell you the KC-Scrappy Natural Disaster story:
KC comes over to watch the Isles-Penguins game Sunday (NYI is my team, Pittsburgh his), and he came armed with a six of Oberon. He was on about the fourth when I had to let Scrappy out. In that yuck weather you were describing, Scrappy is more concerned with licking up what rainwater he can than getting the job done. As a result, and with me distracted arguing with a 29-y-o drunken version of myself, nobody noticed as Scrappy laid some 'processed food bombs' on the hardwood. Particularly not KC, who was in 'pacing mode' and proceeded to step in one and track it into the carpet. Then he comes up to look at what I was doing on the computer- and I smelled. Then, I saw the tracks. And the bombs. KC went outside to clean his shoe while I gathered the bombs and dispensed with them. I'm on the floor with cleaner on the carpet when he comes back in and starts to help- oblivious that while he was ridding one shoe of poop, he was loading the other with mud. So, we start cleaning, make it all the way out to the hardwood. We turn around thinking the job was done, but now every spot on the carpet that formerly had light brown "bomb stains" now had dark brown mud stains! "Oh no, now I have mud on my shoes!"
Finally finishing, he said, "Thankfully we got it cleaned up before Laurie got home!" I replied, "She'd just tell you never come back again..."
I do want to note- I was going to post about the fire at Notre Dame. Had it all written out in my head. Then, something told me, "Too soon. Let people grieve. Time and place for what you want to say." So no post today.
Chris:
---You guys are wrecking my Christmas...and it's STILL 8 months away!
---No, eat the ham, rub out mistakes with the eraser...simple.
---LOL...I prefer wild GEESE to a wild GUESS.
---Ditto...to the "circular file" with them!
---Yeah, but (like me) Scrappy's got an excuse...we're old.
(and once in a while, the floor IS comfy)
---The KC story...
Well, there's another reason (for me) NOT to have children...HA!
---I went and D/Led some pics of ND...something's not right with that.
On the MONDAY of HOLY WEEK???:
Why wasn't the renovation SUSPENDED 7 days until AFTER Easter?
They had 2 masses and a vespers set for today.
Too much NOT being said to suit me (at this point).
But, it's just my "gut" feeling (Thank Gibbs for that).
Hey, thanks for stopping by to comment.
Stay safe (and bomb-free) up there, brother.
