Monday Musings...
Now that awsn't a bad weekend...w managed to salvage half of it...the GOOD half, that is.
Easter turned out well, with sunshine, mild temps, and a decent dinner (made by yours truly).
Today continues the good weather, but it'll be a bit on the "too warm for comfort for me" kinda deal.
Our Hoosierland weather brings us mostly sunny skies, temps climbing to around 75 degrees (you heard me right), and increasing cluds later on. We got us some rain a'comin' into early tomorrow. Then, we get cooler once again.
Do remember...it can ALWAYS be worse.
Now, we've a lot of ground to cover today, so let's get ourselves a refreshing beverage to start the day, as we see what else has been going on....
*** First out of the junk drawer...I stand corrected.  I know it's hard to believe.
(I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken)
The updated cost of the Mueller Report was about $35 MIL (not $25 MIL) and with it being a total of 488 pages in length, that NOW comes to $71,721.31 PER PAGE.
(well, my high school book reports JUST went up in "value"...lol)
*** Next, we bring you the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 22 -
---It's National Earth Day
(big...fat...hairy...deal...!)
---It's National Girl Scout Leader's Day
(wonder if any of them are TG MEN?)
---It's National Jelly Bean Day
(bet you can snag a load of them at HALF PRICE today)
*** Next, and speaking of (the faux holiday) Earth Day...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Day
I'll be the first one to say that we abuse the Earth more than we should, and one day, this planet is gonna get it's ass up and give us a taste of it's particular form if "ire".
Mankind LOVES to control anything and everything (and everyone) in some fashion, but this revolving rock is ONE thing we have NO control over whatsoever, and the sooner we all get with that, the better off we'll be (and we might even survive a while longer).
This plastics revolution is choking us all, but who was it that changed things from glass TO plastic? Mankind.
We became more of a disposable society, and not just when it comes to human life (that's another post for another day).
Happy Earth Day, "K".
We toss out way more than we used to and for some reason, our recycling efforts are not up to the sheer VOLUME of disposables we're throwing away.
I'm certainly no tree-hugger, but I can see where this is going to lead us.
You can also check out my archive posts from 22 April 2016 or 22 April 2010.
There's some good history to be found there.
*** Next up, a shooting at a BK left one car in serious condition:
https://wpta21.com/news/2019/04/20/bullets-fired-at-car-outside-a-burger-king/
This took place just before midnight at the Burger King located at Southgate Plaza in the 300 block of E. Pettit. Av. (that's near us).
Police were checking out the vacant former Walgreen building for evidence. Good luck finding out who did it.
(probably the same mooks who've been shooting up houses)
Anyone in the FWPD remember something we USED to call PATROLS???
*** Next, and speaking of Walgreen, we have this update:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/man-arrested-for-2018-killing-in-walgreens-parking-lot/1940007593
Ammar Haroun, 34, of Fort Wayne was arrested in connection with a shooting death at a N. Coliseum Walgreen's parking lot last year.
*** Next up...Yes, friends, ANOTHER shooting (but NOT on the SE side for a change):
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/20/one-person-in-critical-condition-after-shooting-2/
This took place late Saturday night around 2230 hrs at the strip mall parking lot located in the 1600 block of St. Joe Center Rd.
One man was taken to hospital in serious condition (later downgraded to critical). The idiots just can't seem to contain themselves in this city these days, can they?
*** Next, the Yankees pull Kate Smith's rendition of "God Bless America" from their 7th inning stretch (from "eyeball news"):
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kate-smith-yankees-stop-using-singers-recording-of-god-bless-america-while-investigating-racism/
Seems we have to pick on ANOTHER American icon for something done a VERY LONG time ago. Since she's dead, she can't even defend herself.
Funny thing, this "racist" song was also sung by (you ready for this?)...PAUL ROBESON, who WAS BLACK.
Oh, and forget that her GBA song helped the FLYERS win TWO Stanley Cups back in the mid-70s. (see my archive post from 27 April 2011)
I'm getting REAL tired of the (too few) "uber-sensitive" out there screwing up this country to fit THEIR (snowflake) agenda...how about you?
TO add insult to injury, the've also covered Kate's statue in Philly (looks like she's wearing a burqa). and placed it in storage.
Wow...Knee-Jerk MUCH?
These loons need to grow up, build a bridge and get over it.
*** Next up, here's the latest Bill O'Reilly column which speaks to the aspect of propaganda
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Propaganda-U/-992301590642992571.html
BINGO...Bill hit this one "outta the damn park"!
(hope that Kate Smith's GOD BLESS AMERICA was playing)
*** Next, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
"I'm watching the birds...with my ears."
The kids were mostly well behaved all weekend, and especially yesterday, which only added to the calm we enjoyed around the "Fortress".
"I got tired of laying on the chair."
Naturally, they took turns at various window sills looking at heaven knows what for no reason.
And we were not without our share of cuteness over the weekend.
*** Next up, let's check back in with "Midnight and whiskers"...
Just DON'T roll over, buddy.
Our furry twosome spent a lot of the weekend right on or near our patio, which made feeding time so much easier (didn't have to call anyone).
"Glad that rain finally stopped."
Yesterday had them both sprawling on the patio in the sunshine, or sleeping on and under the table.
As bad as Saturday was with the rain, the cats made up for it Sunday with the nice weather.
*** Last back to the trash bin... Our mayor, King Henry, spoke last week about a DROP in crime. Well, as I surmised, that's NOT the whole story:
https://wpta21.com/uncategorized/2019/04/19/digging-deeper-violent-crime-in-fort-wayne-on-upward-trend/
While crime in "some" categories might be slightly dropping, VIOLENT CRIME is on the UPSWING.
You KNOW that's a fact if you've been a "regular" here.
I've said as much for YEARS.
It always helps to tell the ENTIRE story, doesn't it, your highness?
But, we have to remember that it IS an election year, and lying often becomes an art form.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Arrrgh! These events along with those of Bill O'Reilly's mention, are from students who have never worked, never had to get a scholarship, never had to struggle.Fascism? I doubt they have no idea what it means, what is the history of Nazi Germany and Jews.

It is amazing how the most ignorant who have bought into lies, yell the loudest.

---I know...crazy, huh?
My parents would have my skin if I even THOUGHT of acting they way these kids do.
We were too busy getting schooled, getting JOBS, and making SOMETHING (better) of ourselves.
I think most of us did pretty good.
(in spite of the counter-culture of the late 60s).
These young people need a good healthy dose of HISTORY, in order to UNDERSTAND what fascism, communism and socialism REALLY mean and what type of people promote them.
They might change their tune.
I agree that the most misinformed cry the loudest...it's becoming quite the "trend",and THAT needs to also change.

Hey, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
(much appreciated)

Be well out there.

Sunday was beautiful- which led to a too-long walk for Scrappy which he's still recovering from... and leftovers from what the kids brought over Saturday (which I finally finished off tonight).

Mueller: There's money it won't make back! Hope it don't become a movie...

We celebrated ED (funny what it shares those initials with) by sitting outside a spell... BUT without knowledge we were "celebrating" it.

ED editorial: Plus, I've seen at least 2 articles this past week about the ever-quickening collapse of subsidized wind-power in Europe...

ST Joe Ctr: That would be at the Walgreens right down from me...

Kate: The highlight of socialist creativity is high gray walls... they're just making room for 'em.

BOR: So sick of this garbage. Waiting for these "kids" to just start burning the campuses down. Then they will have to get out of their academic shell and GO GET A JOB.

Hmmm... digging deeper sounds a lot like what I said on the first story....

---Have to agree w/ you about Sunday. It was less a nuisance to us down here.
Started the day watching Phil Sanders and Dr. Jeremiah (see what you started...heh), and that got me off to a great start in the Lord.
---Yes, and let's hope NONE of that EVER makes it into the MCU...!!!
---I trimmed some branches and cleaned up our "circle" where the Japanese Maple midget tree resides (got buds on it...YAY). And I piled the dead stuff along the street...Happy E-D...HA!
---I got some stuff to share about "wind" power. Been meaning to post it soon enough. Maybe early nest week.
---I noticed that. So much for that drug store walk if you need some munchies or soda, right?
Crime IS spreading , pardner.
---Most likely, and all of them will be "just another brick in that wall".
---But to get that job, they'll all want SUBSIDIES...vicious circle (jerk) time for THEM.
---Digging Deeper had the stones to put it OUT there...I say good for them, even if WE knew WE'VE been right for years about this.
It's all quite predictable,actually.

Thanks for taking time out to stop on by today.

Stay safe (and vigilant) up there, brother.

Weather yesterday for Easter was amazing!! got some color on my chest which is awesome! I love to get both suntan and sunburn! but still, I love winter. Earth Day is great, I am all for the environment, reducing global warming, recycling etc. Really wish people would recycle more, turn TVS, lights etc OFF! Can't drive, so I don't use gasoline!

At Kroger Chestnut Plaza we have a goal of reducing waste to zero (yes 0) by the year 2025! Many customers are bringing reusable bags now, love it, since I bag their groceries! Even I use reusable bags every week for my groceries. it's the worst when people ask for PAPER bags, since they kill trees and because I can't see a thing since those bags are so tall&I am so short...

---Yes, it was VERY nice here in NE Indiana.
---I'm a big recycle kinda guy, although I can't say I'm really INTO Earth Day,.
To me, recycling means we use less RAW materials. You can make SO much stuff from discarded plastics, it's mind boggling.
(like carpeting...seriously)
---I'd love to see us go back to using GLASS bottles, though (deposit money was cool), and broken glass just gets re-melted into NEW bottles.
---My take on fossil fuels is this:
WE do all WE can to make air cleaner, but OTHER nations undermine whatever we do, so the onus is ON THEM...not us.
---Actually the paper bags at Kroger are made from recycled paper (which explains why they rip so easily...lol).
A LOT of our paper products have been recycled stuff for decades.
Again, it's those in OTHER nations cutting down rain forests.
Even lumber for houses is mostly recycled wood products.
America does a better job than the media says when it comes to saving our planet.
LOL...you can't be THAT short (there's nothing wrong with that, BTW...I should know.)

Thanks so much for stopping by to comment.

Stay safe ut there.
