23 April 2019

Tuesday Tidbits...
In some ways, it was refreshing to hear a few booms of THUNDER last night and early this morning...sure beats the hell outta the boom CARS we have thumping through daily.
A shame, too. The city looses literally TENS of thousands of dollars of tickets that COULD be written as a result of the department's "lack of vision" and (lack of) willingness to enforce the noise ordinance. But I digress...
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us a few scattered showers, breezy conditions, partly sunny skies. and temps starting out in the low 60s but dropping into the 50s. Might wanna take a jacket, just in case. Probably won't need the umbrella, though.
Now, let's get ourselves a comforting beverage, as we see what else has been happening...
*** First off of the patio table is our "What the hell happens today, Bob? feature:
APRIL 23 -
---It's National Cherry Cheesecake Day
(man, could I do a number on one of those for breakfast)
---It's National Lost Dog Awareness Day
(let's hope owners don't let this happen as often)
---It's National Picnic Day
(might be a bit "soft" out there for that...maybe next month)
---It's National Take a Chance Day
(some of do just that...EVERY time we walk out our door on the SE side)
---It's National Talk Like Shakespeare Day
(well, that would confuse the hell outta the "locals"...)
*** Next up, and because it IS a Tuesday, let's look at ALL the FWPD calls that went out last week that we SHOULD have heard about, but didn't for some odd reason:

Plus 15 narcotics calls
=======================================================
Fireworks calls: APR 15 - APR 21
NONE? You catch last week's idiot?
*** Next, another armed robbery on the (where else?) SE side:
This took place around 0930 hrs at the PNC bank branch located in the 7600 block of S. Anthony (the lot where the former Target store used to be. The assailant was said to have had a machete.
A woman suffered slight injuries, and the robber got away with nothing.
Funny, there USED to be a FWPD car parked in the lot this early in the mornings. As usual, no arrests have been made.
The "locals" are getting BOLDER for a reason.
*** Next up, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The couch is comfy, but where's daddy?
The kids did pretty good yesterday, and hopefully, they'll do as good over the next several days (more on that at the close).
Violet slept with me last night and startled herself awake, and not due to thunder outside.
After a brief stroll around the house, she came back and climbed up next to me.
He's busy taking your picture, "sis".
Gallifrey only climbs up when he wants to wake me up, and he's not NEAR as "dainty" doing so...heh.
*** Next let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Peek-a-boo. I see you.
Our furry duo had an interesting day to say the least.
They took TURNS roaming about, which means after Breakfast, they were both with me as I cleaned up some low branches and raked a bit. Then, by lunch, NEITHER one was around. I didn't see Whiskers until near dinner time, but Midnight was back on the patio a bit after lunch.
Hey, better late than never, right?
At dinner, she was there, and he wasn't.
About a half hour later, he comes strolling in an at least BOTH of them got treats.
They worry me a lot when they stray like that. The next few days should be "fun".
*** Last back to the homestead... I might be taking a little time off  here until Friday.
The reason is that my nephew (a fire department captain) and his oldest son (all of ten) will be driving out to visit for a couple days, and I need to be on MY "best behavior" as well as be a good host.
It's an 8 hour drive (from Virginia) for them, and there's stuff to do around the "Fortress"...like CLEAN and get our futon ready to be slept on once again.
This should be fun, and we're all looking forward to this. The last time Erik was here was a good 15+ years ago when he stopped by with a college buddy.
Wifey and I have some things planned, so it won't be THAT boring...lol.
I might swing by here and toss some stuff in, like the days, and naturally, I'll have a wrap up of things after they leave on Friday.
It's always good to keep in touch, and I do appreciate both of them taking time to think of us.
And who knows...we just might have a small (belated) Easter egg hunt,
As for the cats? Well, they'll have to endure.
There's ALWAYS treats.
It's only for a couple days and they won't miss any meals (unless they choose to).
I'm sure it will be a great time for everyone, so hang in there. I promise to not leave and deprive you of the pungent social commentary (and cute cats pictures) you all have come to love...lol.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Cherry Cheesecake: Or lunch, or dinner, or...

No lost dogs here... but one that was REALLY restless last night, poor guy...

Picnic: agreed there...

Take a chance: I got up, didn't I?

Shoot, "Talk English Day" would baffle your neighbors...

"Used to be..." I wonder if anyone at FWPD is ashamed at getting caught with pants down again...

Hey, you enjoy the time with family... Jo-Anne just lost her dad (Docs figured he would have been dead last summer), so again, life is precious...

Chris:
---You got THAT right!
---He's got company, I was a bit restless too.
---LOL on the "chance". I hear 'ya!
---ROFL (English)...that was BRILLIANT.
That one made MY DAY!
---FWPD - Yeah, you'd THINK they have felt a severe DRAFT by NOW, right?
---Family...a wonderful part of life that is, as you said, SO very precious.
We'll be sure to chronicle as much as we can.
That should be pretty cool for all involved.

Thank you for spending some time here to comment. It's very much appreciated.
(Do hold down the fort in the interim)

And stay safe up there, brother.
