30 April 2019

Tuesday Tidbits...
As I'm fond of saying, "If you liked yesterday, you'll love today"...
If you prefer RAIN, that is.
Yes, you'll want (read need) to take that umbrella, for it will be raining at some point today.
Early on, we've got a bit of fog, so amend your driving accordingly.
Our Hoosierland weather brings us warmer temps, with a high today staying in the mid-50s (kinda like Monday), with rain stopping by to annoy us all. And the grass just keeps growing, right?
Anyway, let's soldier on with a comforting beverage, as we see what else has been happening...
*** First out of the rain barrel, and changing things up a bit (focusing on the REAL important stuff), here's our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature for the last day of this month:
APRIL 30 -
National Bubble Tea Day
(think tea with tapioca and blame the Taiwanese)
National Sarcoidosis Day
National Military Brats Day
National PrepareAthon! Day
National Honesty Day
(sure could use a ton of this in all levels of government)
National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day
(been there, got a "two-fer" a couple years back)
National Bugs Bunny Day
(What's up, Doc? Got a couple hours?)
National Hairstylist Appreciation Day
National Oatmeal Cookie Day
National Raisin Day
Man, seems they jammed a whole lotta stuff in the end of this month.
*** Next, time for the Tuesday FWPD blotter check aka last week's Crime Stats in FTW (that we never heard about).

There is STILL always ONE asshole out there.
*** Next up, speaking of the local idiots ...they just can't let this month go without shooting one another. Here's one.
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/30/man-in-serious-condition-after-shooting/
Lafayette St. near Oxford
And, here's the other:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/29/breaking-at-least-two-people-shot-inside-of-car/
Reed St. near Oxford
As you can surmise, BOTH shootings were on the SOUTHEAST SIDE of town. Talk about a nasty "habit", hmm?
You'd think by NOW, they'd have killed enough of each other off in sufficient numbers so as to make our part of town SAFER...guess not. They must be shipping 'em in from OTHER ghettos in other cities.
*** Next, another abandoned dog (found in good condition). Here's the story:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/04/29/fort-wayne-animal-care-and-control-looking-into-abandoned-dog/
He's a cute little bugger, too (a chihuahua)
*** Next up, more on my nephew's visit...or as we've come to call this chapter: "The Great Fort Wayne Pizza Fiasco"...
So, on the first full day Erik and Thomas were here, we decided to have a "pizza party" for dinner. Sounds good, right?
Wifey dialed up Papa Johns (who have always been great with deliveries).
Lousy customer order-taking!
Well, they had told us about 35-45 minutes, and after a little over an HOUR of waiting, Wifey called them back., and it turns out that the numbnut who took the (delivery) order had us down for CARRY OUT.
WTH? Does anyone pay attention these days?
Well, after canceling THAT screw-up, Wifey decided to call Tasty Pizza, who promised us delivery "as soon as possible".
An HOUR is not "soon".
An HOUR AFTER THAT (and still no pizza), we canceled (refused) THAT order and made a frozen pizza we bought the previous weekend, which wasn't that bad, considering we were all damn near starving at that point.
Kroger to the rescue?
I simply lost my appetite by then.
I can only conclude that ANY order placed on the SE side of town is the "low man on the totem pole" anymore (we have a history of delivery robberies, thanks to the entitlement-driven "locals").
This (though) is really a FIRST for US.
We have NEVER encountered such terrible service in over 20 years here.
Just something else we seem to have lost down here in the crotch of Fort Wayne.
Thank you democrat leadership for your "lack of vision" over the last 2+ decades.
*** Next, it's time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Always time for personal grooming.
The kids had a wonderfully restful day, spending most of it doing what cats do best..,.NAPPING.
Feeding time was fun and got them active before the next nap...lol.
They are marvelously predictable and that's a good thing for me. My routine with them is set
*** Next up, let's do our daily check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"It's good to be back."
Our furry twosome were here for ALL three meals, in spite of the inclement weather. Midnight was at the back door when I unlocked the garage and turned the outside lights off. And then Whiskers came around, so they both got some back step treats early on.
"And I'm glad he's back."
We also had treats later when I went out in the evening to turn the lights back on. I think they got ME into another routine.
I supposed at this point, I'm very well-trained...heh.
*** Last back to the downspout...overall, the work ethic in this nation is taking it on the chin.
You can see evidence of this most every day.
But that's NOT to say we still don't have some holdouts - those people who do the BEST they can under whatever circumstance comes along. Those people are actually driving our economy and this nation's prosperity, and you probably know who you are.
Such people need to be commended, rather than overworked (and often underpaid) for their efforts.
What we really need is a paradigm shift in HOW the American worker does his/her job, which means we set standards and hold ALL those workers to it...simple, right?
You show up (and on time), you do what's expected and if you come across a way to do things better, make it known.
We live in a world that seems to move at a much faster pace, and the slackers who "just get by" need to either get with the game or leave the field.
This nation didn't come into it's own by people without focus and who didn't pay attention.
It got there by those driven to do the best job they could, sometimes under less than the best conditions.
Not "might" or "could".
Most every time, that means starting at the bottom of the ladder, and NOT in the middle (where many feel they "should" start their careers).
When we all pull together in the same manner and with the same effort, we DO get things done.
That's what makes OUR nation the best one on the whole planet.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

See 'ya next month.

Bubble TEA... that's a NO...

Hairstylist appreciation... BWA-HA-HA!!!!!

"...They must be shipping 'em in from OTHER ghettos in other cities...." For every niche must have it's scum to fill it.

I don't get this "put 'em in a cage and set 'em out" deal. First one I'm betting was an a-h owner who couldn't take training like a HUMAN would and demanded it be gotten rid of... maybe this one a cowardly copycat, surmising the media attention would let them now he/she ended up okay...

Like I told D, you guys shoulda wrapped those episodes with the trash and the paper into a "nice visiting Ft Wayne" Letter to the editor.

Cats: "Lissen, youse, youse better not come outta that house widdout a pocketful a treats, if youse know what's good for ya..."

What I need is a paradigm shift in my attitude. I let one stupid thing grate at me all day- despite a twice an hour shouting of, "Chris, drop!" I don't think it's the people... but the way the world is sliding.

Chris:
---Well, I do like tea...and I like tapioca (pudding), but I'm not sure about ever mixing the two in ANY way.
---HSA - and that's why I didn't comment. I dated one once (just...once).
---Tell you what...these days that niche is like the St. Mary's river...OVERFLOWING it's banks (with scum).
Travis Bickle, where for art thou?
---All I know my neck hurts from me shaking my head in total disgust.
---LOL w/ the cats.
---Your attitude is fine, because it SHOWS what is lacking in the company (or ANY company), and it's not about you, but rather everyone who is NOT holding up THEIR share of the log.. Went through it myself (a couple times).
Remember, you got GOD on YOUR side, buddy.
---The world is becoming just like those people who create their own storm, and then pitch a fit whenever it rains. They deserve a good "soaking".

Thanks for spending time to comment today.

Stay safe (and dry) up there, brother.
