I have to say we DID make up for the lack of rain during the week yesterday.
While not what you might call a "gully-washer", it WAS plenty wet early on, and then tapered off to scattered light rain.
I was starting to think we were getting into a "rainy season" in Indiana. The skies actually started to get light again.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly to mostly cloudy skies (what...no rain?), temps climbing to only the mid-50s, and perhaps some light breezes. That is certainly doable in my book.
Now, let's all get that cup, glass, or mug of Friday Fortitude poured and parked nearby, as we set about seeing what else has (and will be) going on...
*** First off of the front steps is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 10 -
National Clean Up Your Room Day
(why I can finally find stuff now)
National Lipid Day
National Shrimp Day
(as long as it's not raw...bring it on!)
National Washington Day
National Military Spouse Appreciation Day
National Provider Appreciation Day
*** Next, and since the end of the week is upon us, let's take a look at what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
MAY 11 -
National Eat What You Want Day
(I always do...pass me another plate.)
National Foam Rolling Day
National Twilight Zone Day
(that's almost EVERY day in our part of the city)
National Birth Mother’s Day
National Babysitter’s Day
National Dog Mom’s Day
National Train Day
(I kinda miss the days of steam and early diesel.)
National Archery Day
(well, it is quieter than a firearm)
National Miniature Golf Day
MAY 12 -
National Limerick Day
National Odometer Day
(wonder how many drivers don't know what that is?)
National Nutty Fudge Day
(sounds good, looks good, and tastes good)
National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day
Mother’s Day
(love your mom...you only get one)
Wow, that's a butt-load of stuff going on...
Well, it THAT isn't enough to take note of and keep you busy (and out of jail), then I don't know what is. Just remember to ALWAYS observe responsibly.
*** Next, it seems that the ugly beast known as "political correctness" has reared it's head again. Here's the story:
https://www.foxnews.com/us/pennsylvania-school-drops-god-bless-america-after-freedom-from-religion-foundation-complaint
Am elementary school principal is no longer allowed to say GOD BLESS AMERICA after reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at a Springfield PA elementary school.
Once again, we see where a couple people spoil something for everyone else.
I think these people just want their 15 minutes of "Andy Warhol" fame when they sic these anti-religion "watchdogs" on AMERICANS who feel a sense of patriotism. These mooks go out of their way to do this sort of thing.
God help our future. |
*** Next up...once again, it's time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
"I iz beat from following daddy around." |
"And we can haz sinner WHEN?" |
Nice to know I'm good for something (beats being good for nothing...lol)
*** Next, let's do our last check-in of the week with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"What is she doing over there?" |
"I iz checking the shelter for when it rains again." |
Hopefully, the weekend will find us all back in the "routine".
*** Last back to the garage...this Sunday in Mother's Day, and as usual, I'll be taking time to reflect on how profound an effect my mom had on me.
There's not a day goes by that I don't think about her...or miss her, and it's been 21 years since she passed.
There are times when I can recall with clarity what she did for me, and our family. The good days and the bad days, the highs and lows of life...the various places we lived before we bought a row house in Philly. She never missed a step.
Dad used to say SHE ran the family, he just made the money...heh.
Yes, I even remember how she got angry when I did something wrong, and smacked my butt for doing so. And she was just as quick to give a hug when you did good.
I remember her tearing up when I graduated high school, and how proud she was of me.
Funny how all those moments have this way of etching themselves into your being.
But through all of it, and for the years I was fortunate enough to have her as my mother...I would not trade a single day of it for anything. It wasn't a perfect life, but it sure was a GOOD one.
I suppose that's a great legacy for my mom..or for any mother.
Do have yourselves an excellent weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out the, America.
See 'ya next week.

National Eat what the doctor says day is closer...sorry, just bitter. Had to pass up cupcakes today.
Trump should do an executive order giving everyone the chance to say, "screw you" to anything supported by the FFRF. I know I do.
BTW, feel free to continue that rant at the beginning of your TM comment. You'll see why.
Be grateful they could ignore you now and then... Scrappy needs help up onto the chairs, now...
Tip of the hat to your beautiful Mom... and a deep bow to mine.
Chris:
---And that's why I tend to shy AWAY from doctors.
You can always send those cupcakes down here...just a thought.
---Now THAT is a great idea of which I heartily APPROVE!
---I will be sure to include something to that effect.
---There are times when I think I need help getting up from the floor.
Aging is REALLY overrated!
---Yeah, Moms are the stuff of legend in many ways.
Wish we had a lot more of such women of principles around in today's world.
Thanks for stopping on by to comment.
Have yourselves a good weekend and stay safe up there, brother.
Letting you know since you don't do FB... Scrappy left this world for our new home approximately 1:40 Saturday morning.
