Humpday Happenings...
If you thought you could put the umbrella away today...you thought wrong. Best keep it nearby for the remainder of the week, because you WILL be needing it.
I suppose this is playing holy hell with farmers TRYING to get crops planted.
Seems we're starting to look like much of southeast Asia with our very own "rainy season". Let's petition Mother Nature to keep any monsoons to a minimum.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us (what else?)...RAIN, followed by more rain and some rain later on. Skies will be mostly cloudy, and temps will be topping out in the low 70s with light breezes (can you say rising humidity?).. Could be worse.
Since everything outside is soaked, let's all get a comforting drink to get us wet on the INSIDE, as we see what else is going on...
*** First out of the overflowing river is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"The best way to learn is by doing. The only way to build a strong work ethic is getting your hands dirty."
I feel this USED to apply a lot more in the workforce, but for the last several decades, we've gotten away from this, thanks to our gradual movement to an "information-gathering" society.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in Stockton, California...
*** Next, time for the usual "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:

*** Next, a soccer "tourney" leaves Tillman Park a REAL mess:

WHISKEY...
And yes, this ALSO took place on the SOUTHEAST SIDE of the city.
What pathetic societal clustrf*ck doesn't?
They didn't name the person who rented the park, which I have to say is a nice park...or WAS very nice until the facilities were trashed, fields torn up, and the usual fallout which comes along with a ghetto environment and mentality. Total disrespect here.
TANGO...
I'll say one thing - there WILL be some serious vetting of any and ALL renters of this park in the future. Hopefully a lesson was learned here (the hard way).
FOXTROT...|!
We don't need to keep turning our part of town into crap-city with such unsupervised and destructive behavior.
*** Next up, time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Violet revisits the tub and shower
Our kids had a mostly boring day, with the rain coming down outside.
Not much for them to see at all, but they do find time to follow me around the house.
Gallifrey takes a pass on the shower scene.
Then, it's back to napping (in between meals). We heard some thunder yesterday, and that woke them up. I think they like not doing much under such conditions...and I agree.
*** Next, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Midnight does a post-meal pause.
We were fortunate that when it was time to feed our furry twosome, the rain had paused long enough for them to eat in the open, rather than under the patio table.
Whiskers & Midnight back step treats.
Naturally, we had morning treats on the back step as well as evening treats. Seems this is the new thing for them. Eventually, the rains will go away, and we can give them hand-held treats on the patio.
*** Last back to the washed out bike paths...there was never a time when I didn't know what a neighborhood park was.
Foster Park - nothing like THIS in Philly.
We lived in a part of Philly, that had a small playground a block away, and I don't remember any vandalism. In another place we lived, Dad used to take me to a playground early on and push me on the swings. We had sliding boards, monkey bars...a basic place to play. The only place to find TREES, too...lol.
Later on, there were proper parks with a ball field, and beyond that, walking paths, tennis courts, and such. Tillman is a park that comes close to being a "complex" with it's amenities. Quite nice indeed.
Tillman Park - BEFORE it was trashed.
Yet, through all that, I can't ever recall a time when anyone trashed such places. It just wasn't done, because people wanted something NICE to go to, rather than what we're seeing today.
People these days have little to no idea HOW to take care of stuff (or want to), and our "disposable society" speaks to that.
I think I'd rather PASS on this one.
Still, that doesn't mean you tear up a place so NO ONE can enjoy it.
Our society needs to get that through it's thick primate skull.
Parks are for everyone to enjoy...not to destroy.
(geez, now I sound like Rev. Bill McGill...heh)
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

HAMBURGER MONTH!

Soccer pitch: SERIOUSLY???? They should identify the renter ON SOCIAL MEDIA to every rec area in the area! I'll bet the Plex would be interested in knowing.. They don't do that kind of damage on their inflatible 5K...

Kids: At least Violet didn't bring mud...

Chris:
---Don't blame Nardole...it's an honest mistake (next time, tell him to turn down the TV).
---Figured you like this quote.
---Boston Creme anything gets my attention.
(except broccoli)
---All month long...hamburgers of any and all types. Have at it.
---I think they will ID the renter (mentioned in today's paper (Friday).
Believe it or not...sounds BURMESE.
(guess they do that kinda stuff in their OWN country)
And we take them all in WHY, again?
---Nah...Violet's not like that. We raise our cats to be (fairly) well-behaved (which is lots better than most children today).

Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Stay safe up there, brother.
