Any real break in this is coming this Sunday (so they say). You'll have to show me.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us more hot, more hazy asnd yes, more humidity as the temps rise again into the upper 80s (talk about an uncomfortable rut).
There is a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower (not making book on that).
Now, let's get a cup, glass, or mug of Friday Fortitude poured, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the coat closet is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 5 -
National Apple Turnover Day
National Graham Cracker Day
(I can take 'em or leave 'em)
National Hawaii Day
National Workaholics Day
(not for all the tea in China)
National Bikini Day
(admiring God's handy-work)
*** Next up...It is the weekend, so let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
JULY 6 -
National Hand Roll Day
(I pass when sushi in involved)
National Fried Chicken Day
(did this last week)
Hop-a-Park Day
(been there, done that already)
JULY 7 -
National Dive Bar Day
(That's all we got on the SE side of FTW
National Father Daughter Take a Walk Day
National Strawberry Sundae Day
( I can work with this)
National Macaroni Day
(did this also last week - with cheese)
*** Next...Another case of unattended "cooking" at a SE side apartment complex:
https://www.wane.com/news/neighbors-escape-after-next-door-apartment-catches-fire/
Waterloo Gardens is becoming a new "hot spot" when it comes to fires.
This took place at 5837 Bunt Drive around 0145 hrs. FWFD was dispatched to the 4th fire there in the past 5 months.
No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire (typical).
Naturally, there was a NON-functioning smoke detector in the apartment.
And you wonder why these people can't have anything nice or trash anything that they get? Wonder no longer.
It's called misplaced priorities (especially safety).
*** Next up...Speaking of which, it's time for "Our Daily Shooting":
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/1-in-serious-condition-following-shooting/
The Baldwin Creek Apts was the location around 0645 hrs yesterday morning.
One male in serious condition.
---Add in a robbery and standoff at the Economy Inn along Coliseum Blvd.
(more black on black crime it would appear)
And the idiot parade continues in FTW...
*** Next up...Kevin Leininger's latest column:
https://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/07/04/kevin-leininger-as-americans-celebrate-their-freedoms-religious-liberty-is-under-attack/
Kevin is spot on with this, and Phil GiaQunita is just plain wrong. (as usual for the left)
And while Carl Loesch, secretary for Catholic education for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend says:“It’s not a sin to be gay, but you are called to be chaste,”
Really? NOT a sin? Okay, but what about Lev 18:22 and Lev 20:13?
Do we now "cherry pick" from the Good Book to suit whatever agenda is laid before us? You might want to look into that, Carl.
*** Next...Fort Wayne's "Rhymin' Preacher" strikes once again:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/columns/20190704/justice-for-all
I've no problem with the CONTENT of Rev. Blll McGill's "sermionette", but the constant RHYMING gets tedious real quick.
He must be fun when trying to order dinner at a proper restaurant...lol.
BTW, Rev...we ALREADY have EQUAL OPPORTUNITY for everyone...just not equal RESULTS (because we all are unique). Try to remember that, please.
*** Next up...let's drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids did okay until the fireworks in the ghettohood started...then they couldn't be found. Understandable.
They found their hiding spots and pretty much stayed there until after midnight, and even then, we still had idiots shooting off aerial mortar rounds.
Hopefully, there's no permanent damage from all that noise.
*** Next...time to check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome also did okay until the (ahem) "fun" started.
Ready for a big yawn |
He stayed close to Whiskers all day. |
We're hoping today is nowhere near as bad.
Breakfast before the noise starts |
*** Last back to the pulpit...I had one bit of commentary planned, but decided to take a different path.
Mind you, this is aside form later in the evening when we had SO many assholes shooting off fireworks that it became extremely FOGGY outside...not kidding!
We had THAT much crap going off (and long after the cutoff time...no police of course)..
Setting up for all those who don't live here. |
Actually, they were ON our property for this. |
After several HOURS of this cacophony, I called the police and told them I want "to report loud music, a loud party, disturbance and nuisance...take your pick".
You could FEEL the "music" inside our house. |
Now, if this honks the neighbors off...Tough Sh*t.
Pull yer damn pants up, moron. |
There comes a time when respect, if not earned has to be LEARNED, or better yet...TAUGHT to those too stupid to know that other people live around them and we don't bother them.
If more people took the time to learn what REAL honest respsct is, and not just demand (or expect) it from others, but freely give it back to anyone and everyone else...this world could solve a crapload of it's problems.
It's an old-fashioned notion, but we sorely need some of THAT these days.
(some people a LOT more than others)
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I just now realized I haven't been on blogger since this morning. I'm on my 2nd trippel right now, so read accordingly (aka forgiving the spelling errors).
As a kid, I loved graham crackers and milk- the YES snack!
I look so nice in a bikini, lol...
Sushi blow. That is all.
Dive bars on Sunday? Nope.
Hmmm... guess I need to get ahold of Shenan for a walk, though...
The two news stories: More "why we can't have nice things"...
Yeah, I might have to send that KL article to my Catholic buddy for comment after this...
However, I think I'll pass the rhyming rev at this ppoint...
"Might be fun ordering at a proper restaurant"... My first time in the south, we stopped at a DQ knockoff and my brother ordered in the manner of a Chi-town salesman. The guy behind the counter looked blankly and said, "Beg'a Pahdon..."
Heard you had a bit longer lasting firework barrage than we did. Over by midnight here...
Nice thing abt this neighborhood- no 'works allowed. Anything we hear is from Papermuill and Canterbury Green. I walked down to watch the downtown, but left early. Too many skeeters, too much 'just me'. Where other people have that "Christmas is the lonliest holiday" vibe, 4th of July is mine.
Chris:
Not a problem. Better late than never.
Yeah, I can do them ONCE in a while (and always with cold milk).
I got spoiled w/ those Archway "jammy-dodger" clone cookies.
I wasn't talking about US...lol.
Raw fish = HOPE!
Yeah, really...didn't read about keeping the Sabbath doused in booze.
Love the obvious answer to all their WHYS, don't you?
That KL column should prove a lot of points to your friend (hopefully).
I went back and skimmed the editorial. I left a lot of rhyming back in elementary school.
It's not nice to confuse the "locals" when visiting a southern state....HA!
(when in Rome works the best...practice a drawl)
Seemed like a Friday night in Kabul (or Chicago).
Too much of this crap from people spending too much to bother others.
Be nice to have a covenant(that these morons wouldn't obey anyway).
When good people leave, the bad ones come in with ALL their bad behavior and bad traits.
Really sad.
I'm not comfortable with those "off-vibe" people either...I can depress myself easily enough WITHOUT help, thank you.
(since you didn't say anything about the close, I figure you are nodding your head in agreement...I hope).
Anyway, you have yourselves a very good weekend.
Stay safe (and keep cool) up there, brother.
Well, you know I'm of two minds. There is partying done right- and I know your needle for that hits red long before mine. But when D said she heard one as she left for work, that's Wayyyyy in the red.
Some people bury that needle in the red JUST by showing up (very predictable)
Of ALL the parties I attended (and there were QUITE a few), we NEVER had the police called on us, OR had any neighbors complain about how loud we were.
Yes, partying CAN be done right...with the right people practicing common courtesy for others.
We sedately stood on our elevated patio and watched the works from a big distance.
When idiots celebrate Independence Day, do they even KNOW what it is?
Susan:
Watching the PROS shoot off fireworks is he ONLY way to view them...and yes, from a safe distance.
There are too many people these days who are totally OUT OF TOUCH as to what the 4th REALLY means.
Sure, we can have fireworks, but idiotic behavior?
Overly loud music?
Disrespect for others?
I'm positive that's NOT what the Founders had in mind when THEY celebrated.
To many people, it's just another day off, with lots of sales and a time to annoy everyone around them.
We can do SO much better as a people.
Thanks much for spending time here to comment.
Have a good weekend and be well out there (praying for no earthquakes near you).
