Thoughts For Thursday...
So, yesterday was wonderfully oppressive as far as heat and humidity were concerned.
Even in the shade, it was STILL damn hot. I really felt bad for the cats, who were lethargic as all get out. Hell, I felt lethargic, and I wasn't lugging around a full body fur coat.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us a bit LESS heat and a bit LESS humidity. Sound the trumpets, right?
We're looking at mostly sunny skies, temps climbing to around the mid-80s (yesterday actually hit 95) and no rain to speak of.
"We might need ice with this."
Now, what say we get a tall cool drink to start the day (and hydration cycle), as we see what else has been going on, hmm?
*** First off of the much cooler pavement is the answer to the WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"The principles of living greatly include the capacity to face trouble with courage, disappointment with cheerfulness, and trial with humility."
This was spoken by Thomas S. Monson  (August 21, 1927 – January 2, 2018) was an American religious leader, author, and the 16th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
Here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_S._Monson
I only featured him once here when he was still alive back on 22 December 2016.
It's a good read and delves into the hierarchy of the LDS church.
*** Nest, it's our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 11 -
National Cheer Up The Lonely Day
(That can also apply to ourselves)
National Rainier Cherry Day
National Blueberry Muffin Day
(love these for breakfast)
All American Pet Photo Day
(worth a thousand words)
National Mojito Day
(never tried one...yet)
National 7-Eleven Day
( we need them in the Midwest)
*** Next up...Kendallville police arrest three robbers:
https://www.wane.com/news/crime/trio-arrested-for-pizza-shop-armed-robbery/
At least they FIND and ARREST those involved (K-9 and a drone used), rather than "just investigate" all such robberies we have in FTW.
Now how about that...they're black. Who'da thunk it?
And...they're ALL from...(you guessed it)...FORT WAYNE!
Street              Wilson               Whitt
--Jordan Michael Street, 20, of Fort Wayne, on initial charges of Robbery, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Theft
--Antonio De Voun Lee Wilson, 21, of Fort Wayne, on initial charges of Robbery and Possession of Handgun without a Permit
--Quandeja Dreniya Whitt, 21, of Fort Wayne on initial charges of Robbery and Assisting a Criminal
Enjoy your free orange jumpsuits and flip-flops...you EARNED 'em, losers!
*** Next...Bill O'Reilly's latest column:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/The-Plan/653940925366471410.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
This "plan" is not the vision for America that I would ever want to get behind.
And, I think a lot of you would agree.
While it "might" offer security, what will we sacrifice for it?
Let's try...freedom.
Sounds like Zola's Algorithim.
Not a good prospect (imho).
*** Next up...time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
"I haz me a comfy chair."
The kids were a bit more animated yesterday, and that meant they actually found the energy to chase each other around (but not for long...lol).
"Got my usual spot off the floor."
They did spend a lot of the day napping (I joined them for about an hour).
I think they were glad they were not outside...very glad.
*** Next...let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Geez, even the shade is hot."
Our furry twosome spent most ALL day close by the house (and whatever shade we had on our patio). Whiskers starts out napping in the garden, but then moves as the shade goes away. Smart cat.
"Tell me something I DON'T know."
Midnight just seems to follow the shade in a likewise manner. He was totally crapped out yesterday with the heat.
Even Caruso wasn't singing AS much when it was time to eat. His appetite was better than the other two.
"Where's the zipper for this fur coat?"
I changed out the water in the bowl a couple times, making sure it was cool for them. Beats drinking warm water.
*** Last back to the comfy chair...anyone see all the (never-ending) problems with technology these days?
There's a loaded question.
Now, tech isn't ALL bad, as long as it WORKS as designed.
Plus, it has to be "bullet-proof", as in  tested thoroughly, so that it functions (again) as designed for those utilizing it.
What tends to bother me greatly, is this constant roll-out of all this tech that seems barely tested at all.
It's like that commercial where things are "just okay". Sorry, in today's world, that's not gonna cut it.
How often do we hear about vehicle recalls as opposed to times past? A LOT more frequently...almost weekly, in fact.
Mazda just announced one affecting a crapload of their vehicles. A "software" problem that could stall the engine (that can't be good).
And what about the "virtual" charter schools in Indiana that were 'mismanaged"?
https://www.wboi.org/post/state-board-decides-take-action-against-mismanaged-virtual-charter-schools#stream/0
"Cooking the books"?
Seems that enrollment data were "fudged" to show higher numbers. And WHY do you think that was?
It was FOR THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR (they would get).
Same goes for all the car companies, and Boeing, and damn near every other company you can imagine.
We're told that: "...the consumer demand is such that..." Yeah, lie to me some more, you idiots.
People SHOULD be fine with technology...as long as it WORKS, and ALL the bugs have been worked out AHEAD of time.
We're not guinea pigs...we're people, and all these companies need to remember that.
I'm not anti-tech (per se), but I AM anti-stupid. There IS a difference.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Someone wrote a letter to the editor in our local newspaper and praised Sweden's form of government and how perfect is for the people. He had consumed the "kool-aid".

Susan:
I'll bet he did just that.
It must come in gallon jugs where he's at...heh.

Personally, I was never a fan of Kool-Aid (even as a child)...lol.

Wonder if Sweden has illegal immigrant problems?
Fortunately, America is NOT Sweden.

Thanks for stopping by to comment today.

Be well out there, dear.

Reading your response to Susan, I'll let you in on this: Follow the Voice of Europe if you really want to know how bad the immigrant situation throughout Scandinavia has gotten. They are facing a nightmare and 'too polite' to talk about it.

BLUEBERRY MUFFINS!

K-Ville: Yep 'hoodies' who couldn't cut it in the big town- and got shown why.

The plan: Yep, basically a way to keep you 'out of the club'. But the herd thinks they're being embraced.

Tech is a lot like my job: Test something? The customer won't wait for you to TEST something! Just make it and we'll fix it 'under warranty' later...

Short and sweet, but TM is done and Uzziah won't write himself...

Chris:
I'll look into that site. It would not surprise me about that situation.
There are times when such "politeness" becomes detrimental to a normal society.
Blueberry muffins indeed (warm with butter)..
Nice to know the K-ville cops appreciate such STUPIDITY (from OUR city).
I know. It's up to the INDIVIDUALS to see through it and expose it.
(might turn some of that heard around).
Agreed with how that works.
To me, being cavalier when correcting things AFTER the fact shows a wonderful regard for FAILURE.
(which should never become an option)
So many times, those who wind up fixing the goof-ups become better engineers that the original designers.
(shame they're not paid accordingly).

Stay safe (and stay cool) up there, brother.
