Humpday Happenings...
Welcome to the middle of this, our Holy Week in the Judeo-Christian calendar.
And, we get a break in the rain (which will return tomorrow, oh joy.).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us cloudy skies, temps reaching back up to around 55 degrees, and some light winds,
(guess any kite flying would be a "go")
With that said, let's get that morning cup (or glass) of whatever you prefer, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the drying streets is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"The strongest and most effective force in guaranteeing the long-term maintenance of power is not violence in all the forms deployed by the dominant to control the dominated, but consent in all the forms in which the dominated acquiesce in their own domination."
In lieu of recent events, this would seem to mirror what might well take place, should people choose to ignore the obvious and instead, follow the sensational, letting themselves be led about, rather than leading. So, who said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in the Great Dismal Swamp in Virginia...
*** Next up, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 28 -
---It's Manatee Appreciation Day
(and we need this observance WHY?)
---It's National Black Forest Cake Day
(okay...now we're talking. I used to always want this for my birthdays back in Philly)
---It's National Little Red Wagon Day
(haven't seen one of these around here for a very long time)
---It's National Something on a Stick Day
(does this include the heads of politicians?)
---It's National Weed Appreciation Day
(whoever thought THIS up needs to be taken into the street and beaten within an inch of their life)
*** Next, a couple articles that spell out the truth regarding one of the most "popular" topics making the rounds these days - gun control.
Here's the first article that advocates for LESS gun control, and not more:
https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/toward-less-gun-control-not-more
The second article pertains to the Utah school bombing:
https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/utah-school-bombing
Goes to show you don't ALWAYS need a firearm to commit mayhem, chaos, and death...
*** Next up, an arrest has been made in the recent death of a Fort Wayne 5-year old. Here's the lowdown:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20180328/slain-boy-5-was-severely-beaten
Yep...another case of "boyfriend watches child, beats child, child dies".
And, "baby-mama" knew about the abuse all along, and said NOTHING.
This particular piece of human crap is Danial Tyrell Pope, 28, who lived in the house located at 1218 Gay St.,where the abuse took place.
He has been charged with murder (and rightly so).
This makes FIVE child homicides since last November.
Definitely have us a problem with some of the male population in this city.
*** Next, and while we're talking STUPID, there's this story:
http://www.wane.com/news/local-news/firefighters-rescue-woman-from-2nd-floor-during-apartment-fire/1081225958
This fire took place at the Eastwood Point Apts -  3511 Cheviot Dr around 1700 hrs Monday.
And once again, people who TRY to cook screw life up for others (as well as themselves).
But, not to worry, there's  a whole NEW batch of single family homes at the recenetly opened "Bottle Works" (former Coca-Cola plant on the SE side) for them to trash.
And don't think they won't soon enough.
*** Next up, a simple question on the 2020 census is causing an uproar...and with the USUAL people. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2018/03/27/decision-to-add-citizenship-question-to-census-draws-protest/
I don't see the problem here. What is a citizen in America...it's a damn CENSUS.
We take the census to MONITOR (keep track of) our population...been doing it since the damn thing was started WAY back in 1790, and yet, there are those (in California) who are against this, because it UNFAIRLY targets certain people (that would be ILLEGALS).
And the last time I checked, illegals are not (and should not) be counted as part of OUR census in this country. The U.S. census is for U.S. citizens...simple, huh? Those leftards really need to STFD and STFU...NOW!
*** Next, this story clearly shows the lack of social skills in the up and coming generations.
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37817724/college-students-to-learn-proper-dining-etiquette
Dining etiquette...for COLLEGE students, no less.
Guess when you're brought up never having dinner at home with your parents, and take to living off of fast food, THIS is the result.
Again, this is precisely the kind of stuff we were brought up learning...in case we ever went out to some fancy "sit-down" restaurant, where you HAD to use all that flatware that was on the table. In other words, you can eat more soup with a damn SPOON than with a FORK, numbnuts!
*** Next up, time to take a little stop over to our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids did pretty well yesterday, considering all they had to watch outside was the rain coming down.
They took to spending a good part of the day napping, which always works for this man.
Gallifrey was going to various windows, seeing if things changed from the rain. Violet was content to hang with me, when he wasn't jumping into my lap when I was trying to watch some TV.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Company"...
Our furry twosome were a bit on the damp side yesterday, even with the shelters.
Midnight stayed under the patio table, which worked out fairly well, while Whiskers used the one shelter to stay out of the rain.
This meant all feeding was done under the table, to keep the food (and cats) dry.
We did make time for treats at last call, and I didn't mind getting a bit wet in the process.
Suffice it to say, neither did the cats.
*** Last back to the ghettohood...I always say there's never a really boring day down here. Sometimes, that's okay...other times, not so much.
Nice cut-n-paste collage, Bob.
Yesterday, a little after noontime, I was working on today's post, when I heard a loud noise outside. I went to the window only to find that two people had "met by accident" right out front at our curb.
So, I called the police to get them on scene, as I didn't know if either motorist would do likewise.
No fire, no fluids spilled or injuries to speak of (PRIDE not withstanding).
The police came, took down statements and handed out some "paperwork" to those involved.
The black Ford SUV was able to drive away (left front damage only) while that silver sedan required a flat-bed to get it off the pavement.
That driver became a pedestrian, and hopefully, both drivers learned a valuable lesson.
When you see a YIELD sign, that means do not ignore it, because someone might be coming from another direction (like a cross-street), and they DO NOT have to yield.
It's like I say...there never seems to be a dull moment down here, and, truth be told, I could seriously USE some dull right about now.
Boring or mundane would be even better.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

27 March 2018

Tuesday Tidbits...
Looks like we're already preparing for next month's "April Showers"...
So, you might want to adjust both your wardrobe and driving appropriately.
(told you not to wash the car...lol)
Mother Nature has it all covered, doesn't she?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us (what else?) RAIN...followed by more rain this afternoon and a bit more rain later tonight. Skies will be cloudy as all get out, and temps will be rising to around 57 degrees. There will be breezy conditions to add to all this "fun".
I would say it's best to go get that morning cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the rain barrel is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 27 -
---It's National American Diabetes Association Alert Day
(nice of them to tell us about AMERICAN diabetes - beats the EUROPEAN kind, I suppose)
---It's National Education and Sharing Day
(always good to share education...IF the kids pay attention)
---It's National Joe Day
(I'll bet Norma's brother is loving this one)
---It's National Spanish Paella Day
(in Spain, it's not AS good as we make it here)
*** Next up, and since it IS Tuesday, let's look at all the FWPD calls that we never head about, because the media was focusing on Stormy Daniels and her tale...

*** Next, here's one reason not to get a tattoo:
http://wane.com/2018/03/26/cocaine-boats-found-at-unlicensed-fort-wayne-tattoo-shop/
Now, is this guy creepy-looking or what?
He's got those "dead in the soul" eyes, if you ask me.
This guy has the look of one of those mass-shooters.
And he ran an UNLICENSED tattoo parlor. Doesn't anyone downtown CHECK this kind of stuff out?
Police found "cocaine boats"...I'll stick to shrimp boats (with fries and slaw).
Funny, I always thought you had to BE licensed to even open the doors to places like these, not to mention the health risks involved.
Lock this drug-dealing jerk up and keep him there.
*** Next, a Fort Wayne man (child) gets busted for a DETROIT murder. here's the lowdown:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37809067/fort-wayne-man-picked-up-on-detroit-murder-warrant
What's the matter? Not enough black for you to kill in Fort Wayne? You have to travel to Detroit to get your kicks?
((Richard Gaines III was arrested Thursday in Fort Wayne. The arrest comes after a Michigan court issued a recommendation for a warrant.))
Guess the Detroit police seem to KNOW where such people tend to run to...makes sense, given the "nature of the beasts" as it were.
Well, with the possibility of high-speed rail looming, it could make a getaway much easier and faster.
*** Next up, the oldest gun maker in America falls on hard time. Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/37806674/frontier-gun-maker-remington-seeks-bankruptcy-protection
Yes, Remington firearms has filed for Chapter 11 (bankruptcy).
Ever since Sandy Hook, the gun maker has been taking it on the chin (and in the wallet).
This is what happens when leftist loons are allowed to sue gun makers for a crime that was perpetrated by a PERSON (who happened to use a gun).
The 1911 model by Remington
And this is the kind of BS that gets traction in this country these days, rather than the TRUTH.
That's pretty damn sad.
*** Next  time to leave the sad and visit the cute with our "Kitten Corner"...
I think the kids were anticipating the rain we have today, an were behaving themselves very well. Gallifrey does continue to be a bit "manic" at mealtime, while Violet just sits there patiently and waits for me to have her sit up for her food. She never utters a single meow, while he can't shut up...lol.
Late in the evening, it's time to curl up in a chair (usually mine) and get comfy one with the other.
*** Next up, let's go visit with "Midnight and Company"...
Please don't tell me it's gonna rain...
The furry twosome were close by once again, and I tried to tell them both it would be quite rainy today.
Here's hoping they both take advantage of the shelters and stay dry.
Just catchin' some rays while I can.
Usually neither of them gets soaked, so they  manage to keep themselves out of the foul weather.
You can't help but want the best for the two of them.
*** Last back to the rain-soaked streets...people really need to start looking for the truth.
I know I'm really becoming annoyed with folks "settling" for whatever some media source tosses at them, and embracing it as some sort of "gospel". With the technology at our disposal that makes seeking the truth to any story or issue, you;d think it would be SO easy.
Sadly, it's looking like the opposite may be true.
Thankfully, there are those of us who refuse to just swallow whatever media pablum is trying to be shoved  down our throats on a daily basis, and instead, take the time (and effort) to "look behind the curtain" and find out what's really going on.
This generation that has taken to protesting gun control worries me, because they have become the lemmings they should be avoiding in life. No critical thinking, no individual thought processes...just follow in lock-step to what "sounds good", rather than what iis right.
What they don't realize is that while jumping off a cliff is easy...it's that sudden STOP at the bottom that's the real bugger.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

26 March 2018

Monday Musings...
Don't let that sunshine over the weekend fool you, friends (or keep any of you from commenting like on Friday...lol)...and don't bother to get the car washed. It's supposed to rain tonight into tomorrow. Yeah, it's still Indiana (and rather cold to start the day).
We're heading into the home stretch for this month, with Easter right around the corner.
Our Hooiserland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies (cloudier as the day progresses), temps climbing to around 50 degrees, and the breezy conditions continue.
So, let's get the old synapses firing with a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off the tarmac is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 26 -
---It's Epilepsy Awareness Day
(turn off the strobe lights, please)
---It's National Nougat Day
(pass me a 3 musketeers or Snickers bar)
---It's National Spinach Day
(I will ONLY eat this in a salad)
*** Next up, let's start with some random idiocy...like THIS story:
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/teen-taking-drivers-exam-crashes-test-office-082203950--abc-news-topstories.html
No, they DON'T have a drive-thru window.
Yeah, sometimes taking a driving test CAN be problematic, as this teen found out.
And to make matters worse, that's the (Minnesota) BMV building that was driven into.
(and these are the same kids worrying about GUNS???)
*** Next, and speaking of such things, we had local students jaw-jacking about guns over the weekend. Fancy that.
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20180325/students-speak-out-at-courthouse
You know, if we lived in a world that THESE kids want, we wouldn't want to live there...lol.
I actually had to laugh at one of these kids (named Violet, who is not as intellectually adept as our cat with the same name, it would seem)  held up a sign that clearly read:
Protect US, Not Guns.
How about we protect you WITH guns, Little Miss Mensa?
Oh, and let's not forget the MAIN reason for the protests - VOTER REGISTRATION (for the leftists, who actually organized this deal nationwide).
*** Next up, councilman John Crawford had a pretty good letter to the editor in Sunday's J-G:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/columns/20180325/crimefighting-must-evolve-to-keep-up
I agree fighting crime HAS to "evolve"...it's called staying several steps ahead of the bad guys.
Dr. Crawford nails it with 5 simple words:
"I BELIEVE SOCIETY HAS CHANGED".
Yep, I've been saying the same thing...for YEARS (and you readers KNOW this to be true).
Do I agree with Crawford's solutions? Not entirely, but he makes some good points.
It's going to take much more than any program can do. That's a certainty.
My black Baptist preacher friend (from several lifetimes ago) used to have a saying for such issues: "They NEEDS Jesus".
Doesn't get any more basic than THAT, does it?
*** Next, this is another act of that "special kind of stupid"...
www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/03/23/man-in-critical-condition-after-fort-wayne-shooting-while-group-cleaning-guns/
Yeah, someone needs a remedial course in "gun-cleaning 101", because there is NO reason why a firearm should discharge while cleaning...UNLESS someone was being woefully irresponsible (and yes, stupid).
Saturday, I field-stripped my 9mm right next to Wifey, and guess what? NO ONE GOT SHOT!
Oh, maybe that was because I ALWAYS make sure the gun is NOT LOADED FIRST.
We used to call that having RESPECT for such things (that can hurt you). The morons in the story might want to try THAT (for a change).
*** Next up, and speaking of shooting, we have another little gem:
http://wane.com/2018/03/25/2-seriously-hurt-in-shooting/
This was one of those "walk-ins" at hospital. Two were seriously injured by gunfire, and police are trying to figure out WTF went down.
Police were checking into a possible scene in the 4900 block of Lima Rd. but dispatch could confirm the location.
If you recall, this is NOT that far from those "no-tell motels" along W. Coliseum near Goshen (within walking distance, in fact).
*** Next, another kitchen fire in another southside (government-sponsored) complex...
http://wane.com/2018/03/24/kitchen-fire-badly-damages-south-side-apartment/
This took place in the 800 block of Dolphin Court (formerly Prestwick Sq Dr) around 2030 hrs Saturday (behind the PSA)
The complex is a 7 unit duplex affair that is directly north of Southbridge Apartments (another "fun" place not to be).
These people LOVE to grill outside, but God help everyone if they decide to cook INDOORS, right?
*** Next up, time to drop all the dumb and instead visit "Kitten Corner"...
I know it feels like...somebody's watching me...
Our kids had a pretty good weekend, and that means so did I...lol.
Plenty of nice quiet nap-time, in between bouts of watching birds and otherwise not getting into trouble.
And I have no privacy ...(sing along).
And you will never hear me piss and moan about that in ANY way, shape or form.
*** Next up. time to check back in with "Midnight and Company"...
Life is good for us here.
Our furry twosome spent most ALL weekend right alongside the house (when one of them wasn't in a shelter). Yeah, the nights were cold, but the food, water and love came right back around when the sun came up.
And that's why we stick around...
That's one thing these two can depend on - we never run out of those three things around here.
*** Last back to the hangar...I seriously wonder WHAT kind of kids we're raising today.
Much of this is missing with too many kids today
If I didn't know better, I'd think someone is setting up the good old USofA for a mighty fall.
We're spawning a generation of pacifistic, gender-neutral neurotics with a mediocre intellect.
And this is right on the heels of several generations of the entitlement clan.
If I had to name this generation, (like we have with others in the past), I'd have to call them "Generation ???", because we don't know what they are, where they're headed, and neither do they. That is a sobering portent of things to come, isn't it?
We (and I mean adults with a modicum of common sense and wisdom), really need to step up and get this "ship of state" back on the course it was meant to sail, rather than wallowing about in the stormy seas of apathy.
We can protect our children, but not by any method these kids envision...that's plain nonsense.
Now, we could just all roll over and let these children run the country, but that's not going to work, and you know it.
We need rational thought, cogent thinking coupled with wisdom, and tempered with moral and civil behavior.
Anything less, and we will soon not recognize our country.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

25 March 2018

Palm Sunday

Nuff said.
Stay safe out there.
