But after years of seeing what I have already expounded to at length come about (and in some cases a lot sooner that I would have thought), it just made good sense to "get it ALL out", and in many ways, it's become quite theraputic for me. At least it's keeps my mind free to pursue other things (like finding my glasses that I have a nasty habit of putting down and promptly forgetting WHERE...until I need them).
What I sometimes become a bit annoyed about regarding the whole blogging "thing" is that once in a while, I manage to "get it right" vis-a-vis having my thoughts contained in a succinct manner, letting my wife critique every posting (of course), and if I "miss the mark", I WANT her to tell me about it, and yet not many people take the time to apparently read the posts, let alone comment on it. If others of you ARE reading them...throw me a bone and let me know. It's not a "glory" thing at all for me. And I'm SURE not in this for the money!
There are those few stalwart "followers" (geez, I detest using that word...no messianic complexes here, trust me) who regularly read and often comment, and I like to feel it's a real 2-way street. If I'm wrong...by all means...correct me, or at least show me YOUR viewpoint so I can maybe change MY point of view (as it HAS been known to happen). I'm a big boy...I can take the heat. And if we can at least agree to disagree...well, that's as good a start as any.
I read my share of other blogs (local and national), and I'm oft times on board 100%, while other times, I think "WTF is this person saying?", but my main thought is about OBJECTIVITY. I go in, eyes and ears open, with no preconceived thought of what the person "might" be trying to convey. Then, upon reading the blog (many times it only takes the first sentence), I usually make a more informed decision as to MY stance on a topic/post. If I have nothing good to say, I keep my yap shut and move on (unless the blatant idiocy displayed is SO clear, that it BEGS to be acknowledged).
Mostly, I like to quip or add my "2 cents" of relevancy to the post. And that's it. Many other times, I find myself laughing so damn hard, I just want to savor the humor of the moment, good OR bad.
I have my favorite blogs, and I'd like to think they KNOW who they are. I also have those that I rarely visit anymore, because it becomes a chore to fully comprehend what the blogger is trying to tell me (my name is NOT Kreskin). I'm not one of those "shades of gray" people...I like good old BLACK and WHITE. And if you're going to want to lie to me, at least be convincing about it...LOL!
Oh, and if anyone is keeping score, my birth certificate does NOT have YESTERDAY'S date on it...so there!
Do I enjoy blogging? Some days, yes...other days...not so much, but at least it does "keep me off the street" as we used to say. I like to mix things up...stir the pot as it were. I don't think of it as controversial, but rather just plain up front. Like my Dad used to say: "If you don't want to hear the truth, don't ask me".
Truth will always win out here, no matter what the cost. And that's something that much of real world journalism (and even some blogging) lacks today. Will I continue blogging? I suppose so. I have way too much to say as it is, so better to let it all out, and be done with it (eventually), than to spend my deathbed hours regretting all I NEVER had a chance to say.
Besides, since we'll always have crime, taxes, and stupidty, I look at this blog/forum as a way of speaking up for the little guy; all the decent Joe & Jane Everbody's of the world. The voices that are rarely heard (or acknowledged) are usually the ones with the good ideas, the honesty and integrity, and the innovative solutions warranted by today's hustle and bustle world. I like to think of this blog as a common sense approach to humanity, with all it's foibles, as well as life, with all it's vicissitudes.
To all those that first encouraged me to get my OWN blog...you had NO idea what you were starting...and I thank you all for that! To my fellow bloggers I would only say that I STILL don't bite (much), so stop by and drop a comment or three....a guy likes to know he's still got a pulse in this here blogosphere once in a blue moon.
So here's to post #200....and hopefully, another 200 (at least), 'cause I WANT Glenn Beck's job (plus, I don't look too shabby in a nice suit & tie)...LMAO!
(Don't worry O'Reilly, YOUR position is safe AND sound)

I'm one of those guilty people who quite often read your blog and yet rarely post a comment, for that I apologize. I have the same problem with my blog too. Though mine was created as a way to keep my ever spreading family in touch, all too often they are reading and staying silent, frustrating among other things sometimes. :0)
I found you a while back through AWB, another blog I would call a "daily read". I can honestly say that there has yet to be a post of yours that I haven't read without nodding in agreement and saying "He gets it".
Congrats on your 200th post, and keep up the good work.
Just a thought, but perhaps you and Mr. Turkette should join forces and run for Mayor. I'd vote for ya! :P
CONGRATS B.G.!!
I just know Glenn Beck's looking over his shoulder. Keep it pithy!
hahahahahahaha
Congrats on post 200!
And thanks for your honest, wit, and straight-forwardness.

(oops, there goes my keyboard again..coffee all over it)
MAYOR????
Of FORT WAYNE???
PRICELESS!!!!
(not to mention one more voter)
That's JUST what the city needs!
(in an "evil", goatee-wearing alternate universe)...LOL!
Thanks for the sentiments, everyone...it is VERY much appreciated!
And remember Tim...
Pithy IS as pithy DOES.
