That would be over the septic tank...where all the "you-know-what" winds up. And that appears to be the perfect segue regarding our city and it's leaders. I think that I've been more than lavish in giving these people the benefit of SO many doubts over the years, as I'm sure many of YOU have also.
But when exactly does the rubber start meeting the road? When do we start to hear fewer lies and more truth? Unlike the court in A Few Good Men...we CAN handle the truth. In fact, all of us would go as far as to say we'd ENJOY the truth for a change.
Take "King Richards" latest touting of Fort Wayne as a "green" city. Well, as far as the bull$hit factor goes, he's bang on target...Fort Wayne is becoming one damn nice septic tank! He might state that "they" have done SO much regarding pollution from businesses..OK, then WHY (exactly) do we STILL have "ozone action days"? WHY (exactly) can I see (on any given day) scores of ghettomobiles, scooters, and lawn mowers that reek of noxious fumes that one even can see issuing from their exhausts? WHY (exactly) can we still smell all those DIESEL fumes from school buses? Imagine what that's doing to the kids inside. Hell, most businesses (that really pollute) have left town for parts unknown. Don't know many LAW FIRMS that are prime polluters, or ACCOUNTING OFFICES, or even RETAIL STORES (which is pretty much all we frigging have in this town any more). You "could" say all the fast food joints have contributed to the problem (along with all of us nasty smokers), but I think that's splitting hairs.
Sure, the River Greenway is a nice touch, but it's nowhere near where I live, so it's a moot point. I suppose one could say that all the "green" being exchanged for DRUGS is part of the mayor's plan too, right? I've seen the rivers we have flowing through town....not much change at ALL in the 10 years I've lived here. Looks the same to me...muddier than hell...all kinds of trash either sunken or floating...at least none of them have caught FIRE yet...be thankful of that at least.
You want a green city....OK, then (re)enact a vehicle inspection for emissions through the BMV. I've said this SO many times in the past, even wrote a letter to (then) Governor O'Bannon....never acted on that, nor has anyone else since. And get around to diverting large trucks from residential areas (where they apparently do not belong). Also, push for more ELECTRIC lawn gear for smaller residential areas. Not only would that cut pollution, BUT the vehicle inspections ALONE would bring much needed revenue to the state and local governments, thereby having the added potential to DECREASE property taxes...
NAH...too easy a solution!
That'll go over like a pregnant pole-vaulter!
While you're at it though, how about tearing down ALL the dives, hovels, and any other structure masquerading as a HOUSE on the south side of town, eh? Oh wait, I guess the city would much rather have these low-class trash living in ONE area (where they can keep an eye on them)...gotcha! After all, *if* any situation were to occur, they'd be easier to "round up", right? Still, I'd like to see only about THREE houses in my immediate area (mine included in that number), and I'm willing to help the city with their "demolition"...believe me...I AM ready. Be nice to NOT HEAR all the commotion from ten black girls screaming at one another in the intersection for over an hour using the *N* word, the *F* word, and *Bitch* every OTHER word (yeah, I DID call the FWPD on their asses, btw).
And if we're serious about becoming a green city, let's make LITTERING a FELONY. I know that's about as ridiculous a notion as our smoking ban, but face it, this city wears RIDICULOUS like NO BODY'S business, right? Bring back DEPOSIT BOTTLES, that way anything tossed away is worth something to someone else. The county wants to enact a NOISE ordinance, because they have none in place to quell all the construction, as well as various other sources of this mostly urban bane.
Good luck.
I know that ANY noise ordinance isn't worth the paper it's printed on, or the taxpayer money wasted to even discuss it. When I have idiots drive by or even stop near my house, thumping their asses off, call the police, email the FWPD admins with descriptions, tag numbers, etc, month after frigging month, and STILL not one damn thing gets done to remove these chronic idiots from our streets...I feel it's time to get a little "Batman" on these jerks! I got the solution for persistent noise problems.....70mm of rifled slug in their damn car window. How's about confiscating the damn stereos and/or the vehicles and slap on a hefty FINE to boot?
NAH....too easy a solution.
It really pisses me off when I hear ANY politician say what they're doing to make things better...and I see NOT ONE DAMN THING change for the better in my area. Things remain the same at BEST...and deteriorate further at worst. Yet not one politico will take one day out of their "busy" schedule to come down here, take a walk through, and allow people like US to point out the problems. Yeah, that was "supposed' to happen about 4-5 years ago. City leaders said they would do it....and nope, you guessed it...haven't heard anything since.

In the final analysis, it IS all about GREEN, as in "money talks, bull$hit walks", but in this city's case, the money AND the bull$hit are walking to the bank...arm in arm.
This city doesn't need an enema....a COLOSTOMY perhaps, but definitely NOT and enema.
But you don't want to know how I REALLY feel...LOL!
