OK, so I figure I can get up, get things going in my life, and be done with it, allowing the universe to unravel itself once again as it has done every day since it's inception.... BWAHAHAHA...
Guess again.

(pause for the obligatory "AWWWWW" that everyone is going to be mentally saying).
So, having a wee bit of St. Francis in me (from obviously a past life), I gave it some kibbles and told it to go home.
This morning, I am no sooner out the darn door, and guess who shows up at my feet?
Yep, that's right. Back for more food from it's favorite local "choke 'n puke". I mean I can't do anything in the yard or on the property without having a kitten at my feet. Since I already have TWO (and being VERY possessive, they didn't cotton all that much to this one, no sir), I figure I have to call ANIMAL CONTROL. Well, they (animal control) tell me to catch it (no problem), and then an officer can be dispatched to our house (again, no problem). I get out OUR cat carrier, and this kitten practically WALKS right in (people friendly to the max). I give it some water (that it promptly uses to baptise itself and the carrier), and try to get on with the daily "honey-do" list.
After several hours (animal control ONLY has ONE officer per city QUADRANT...they need a few more, don'cha think?), the kitten was taken away to begin a better life where it's owner will be someone who gives a shit, instead of some moron(s) that don't DESERVE to own a pet (let alone sire children).
Maybe we'll get to see the kitten on cable access...who knows.
All I DO know is that I will help animals around my neighborhood quicker than even bother with almost ALL the people around here. The only way you get to "know your neighbors" is by reading about their exploits on the police reports or the local news.
Everyone deserves a good life, and in many cases just trying to make that happen is a tough study in perseverance, but if I can help just one small, relatively helpless animal achieve that good life (until my wife and I are able to do likewise), that's the way it's going to be....end of story.
Getting off my soapbox, and continuing with today's frivolity....I also called PARKING CONTROL for a minivan that has sat UNDRIVEN on the next block up for OVER THREE WEEKS!!!

Well, after 3 WEEKS, I feel I've been more than OVERLY GENEROUS with these people (who smoke dope regularly with kids in the house), so now the clock IS running....move it, or LOSE it.
I'm sure those of you in NICE neighborhoods rarely (if ever) have to deal with things such as this, but you have to remember, this is NOT a "nice" neighborhood (except for me and my wife).
And I'll remain vigilant...for as long as it takes. Because if NO ONE does anything...NOTHING gets done (I'm sure that's a military saying...lol), and although it sounds a trifle rhetorical, truer words were never spoken.
Sure, there will always be the assholes that live in their "HUD-vels" (Bob's Lexicon) with their nice rented furniture and big screen TVs. There will always be those that think more of the "bling" than in doing the right thing.
And surely as long as people don't have any regard, respect, or courtesy toward anything or anyone...I'll be right there, to remind them...in whatever manner I can conjure up.
Humanity has always had certain limits, restrictions, and rules by which every one of us lives. I'm here to help enforce them by utilizing anyone and everyone at my disposal...whatever it takes to get it done.
Welcome to "ME"!

(...and do damn well)

Awww, poor kitty.
:(
He looks like one of my cats, Spot.
I can't stand how some people just throw their animals aside like garbage. It breaks my heart.
It breaks my heart too! We adopted two cats in 1999 from
the Animal Control Shelter. One of them looks exactly like in the picture. It's been a blessing for the family, allergies aside, and
for the two kittens now Seniors for their cat age...they give so much love. To those that love their pets or adopt them; a chip is placed in their neck so if they do turn up owner & pet can be united.
Over the years though, we have had to call animal control for the "wild type cats" these kind of animals are not trainable.
They pick them up and kill them.
And then we have the other types,
"free to a loving home...
free classified add in the paper" for the cats and dogs
dumped in our neighborhood.
I must say, we have found loving homes for loving animals through the years.
It's just a shame that
most of these critters get only
a numbers of days at Animal control before they are expired.
I have A good feeling about this little kitten.
It seemed SO friendly, follows you around everywhere, and would be a very nice addition to someone in need of a nice cute, ball of fur.
I'm going to be looking on cable access for his/her picture, as I can't see the cat being put down...not with the sweet disposition it has.
ANd if I lived out in the country, we wouldn't even be having this discussion...'cause I'd be busy taking care of it.
;)

B.G. & your special loving wife:
I knew you'd do the best for this
kitty. They are pretty pretty
little fur balls of love.
If you call Animal Control they will scan the critter for ownership and determine if it was lost or abandoned.
And with that beautiful cat believe me they will find a home
before expiring this breed.
I think you duo are the best!
