Yes, But Is It Newsworthy?
There is "news", and then there's NEWS. And if you're reading these words (on any given day), than the answer to the question would be: "Yasureyoubetcha"!

Take the NY governor's fall from grace with his involvement in that international prostitution ring. When the (now former) Governor Spitzer held his news conference, the LAST thing he should have done was drag along his WIFE to stand blank-faced and forlorn at his side. You could tell she was experienceing several types of HELL during that session. My heart felt for her, honest to God.
All this crap for a call girl worth $5K? Whew, I can only imagine what a "john" would get at THOSE prices. I would think that some nice "parting gifts" would be in order (and I'm not referring to the clap).
Uh, oh...Segue alert...
Speaking of the clap, WANE's "First News Feedback" question was about the rise in STDs among teenage girls. And without exception, EVERY person who emailed in said they were NOT surprised. The respondants cited such things (as I have said HERE time and again) as MORALITY (and the lack thereof), bad parenting, the media (music movies and TV), sales and marketing "trends", and so on.
You see? You stop by HERE once in a while, and you can't HELP but become even more enlightened (if you haven't become so already by reading these posts).
Oops, time for another segue...
I'm going to start a "new" segment here, highlighting some of the various jerkwads that inhabit (or at least frequent) my neighborhood, as Phil Marx has given me impetus to do so by his posts. And to those of you that DON'T have such people living near you (consider yourselves blessed), this could not only become educational, but also a bit amusing. To those of "us" that have to put up with such idiots daily, this will perhaps motivate you further to keep track of these people, so we can get them off of our streets.

Our first dipshit hails from the remnants of the hippie, burnout generation (or at least he WANTS to be thought of that way). His name is Daniel Vitcenda, and although he's very hard to get a good picture of, think Charles Manson, only skinny and shorter with a limp, weighing all of 130 lbs, and with a glazed-eyed look on his face (from all those controlled substances) and a greying beard.
He USED to work at the GM plant, until he was canned for drinking problems. He is single (big surprise, him being every girl's "dream"), and frequently barhops from Fosters Pub (Lafayette & Rudisill) to The Senate (4900 block of Monroe off Pettit) and back several times a day. Oh, he doesn't work now (hasn't for the past 3 years), but has feigned "disability" of some type to support his habits, in case you were wondering.
His truck is a dark green over tan Chevy with a white fascia, primer black front fenders and a yellow hood (thanks to numerous accidents during "drinking while driving" binges). It also has CABELA'S stickers on both doors, straight pipes (no mufflers) mismatched tires, sits too high and is loud as all get out. Just what EVERY residential neighborhood needs, right?

The people he hangs with are druggies and alcoholics, and he can be seen getting out of his truck, grabbing a litre of vodka, and swilling down a gulp or two, before starting his "rounds" at the houses he "visits". He USED to have prep rally-sized BONFIRES out back of his former house (until I called the FWPD and the FWFD on his ass a few times). We're talking flames WELL OVER TEN feet high...in the middle fo SUMMER no less! A friggin ARSONIST as well as an alcoholic druggie and irresponsible gun owner in our midst. Wow, such DIVERSITY in outr city to be sure!

Former neighbors told me he also used to GROW POT in the house he used to live in (and was seen numerous times smoking it out back in broad daylight with his cronies), has shot SKS rifle rounds into the floor, has had numerous fights at his place, was alleged to have sold guns for drugs, and even had guns stolen from his house. He no longer lives on our block (supposed to be cribbing at 4716 S. Lafayette as well as at 4826 S. Monroe), but still has to "drive by" OUR area just as frequently to let us all know he's still alive (a condition I could relieve him of quite readily).

Funny thing is, he has flown so far UNDER the "radar" for YEARS, that the FWPD can't seem to catch up and nail this guy on something. How's THAT for a fine, upstanding model of Fort Wayne citizenry, hmm? And you people are pretty much PAYING for his lifestyle!
And he's not even the WORST of the litter.
It gets better - stay tuned.
You guessed it...still another segue...
Lastly, we might be done with most all the winter weather. At least the 7 day forecast looks promising (crosses fingers AND eyes), but we're getting those April showers a bitearly (possibly mixed with snow?), as some form of precipitation will be with us most of those days.
The good news is that the garden will starting bringing life into our midst.
And ANYTHING that can keep my mind & spirit OFF OF the conditions down here IS a godsend.
The down side to that (there always is one), is that the boomcars will be out in greater numbers, and since the FWPD doesn't think that's all too important (low priority, unlike those nasty SEATBELTS), we're stuck with pretty much being FORCED to listen to these "audio-terrorists" (and my slingshot is ready, along with some other surprises in store for these morons).
Warner weather sure doesn't have the appeal or the allure it USED to have, but down here...what really does? That pretty much sums up ANY season, come to think of it.

Hope springs eternal, but (southside) reality has a way to taking care of hope all too well.

Sounds like he might be the brother of the guy I mentioned in my last post.

I've seen a lot of people here who seem to operate "under the radar" quite openly. It sometimes causes me to wonder who really is running Fort Wayne's drug racket.

Nice pictures on your blog. I finally figured out how to add them to my blog. Tonight, I'll show you a satellite photo of the neighborhood where my drug supplier used to live. Look closely, maybe you'll see your friend's truck in the driveway.

I would not be one bit surprised Phil...we're never at a loss when it comes to white trash OR black trash.
We have such DIVERSITY when it comes to (human) trash, that I can see why the city embraces diversity (and ships all of "it" down here).

As for "who" runs the drug racket in this city?
Well...I have "my" thoughts, and some of Fort Wayne's finest have "their" thoughts...and curiously enough, we seem to be on the same page.

((there is this little bird that chirps "prosecutor's office"...at least it sure sounds like that's what he's chirping))
That would explain a LOT around here.

But I never said ANY of that (that little bird did), kapesh?

Almost forgot....if you want a good, cheap digicam, Walgreens has one just like mine (made by Aiptek)...for only $79!
And it takes those memory cards/chips (up to 2Gb max).

It uses 2AA batteries and takes REAL good pictures, acts as an MP3 player, takes 1/2 hour of video, and the software is adaptable to most ANY system (even my 10 year old POS)!

And it zooms up to 4x as well as fits in the palm of your hand. Nice for carrying around when those car accidents happen (or anything else for that matter).

Also comes with 3 prong RCA adapter and USB cable for the computer.
Can't beat it for the price, trust me on this one.
It's a GREAT startup camera.

Just in case you're interested.

When a police officer witnesses a drug transaction, and he is the only one on the scene, he has to choose whether to pursue the buyer or the seller.

After seeing the same buyers ignored repeatedly though, you begin to wonder. For a long time, I thought this was proof of police corruption, but I believe now that it is much higher up than that.

Let's say you arrest the sellers. Business is actually shut down or significantly curtailed for a short period of time until new guys fill the void. But if you arrest the buyer, as soon as the cops are out of sight another one comes along.

Now, ask yourself this. Which method would bring in more money? - arresting a drug seller once a month, or arresting drug buyers several times a week?

Allowing the drug sellers to remain active is a money-making enterprise because they lure the buyers who can be easily picked up by the police.

Now, ask yourself where the money from these arrests goes to. Sure, FWPD probably receive some ancillary benefits, but they are not the main beneficiaries.

Bobby, I think that you and I are thinking very similar thoughts on this subject.
