OK, So Here's The Plan...
In our never-ending quest to find a computer system that will do what it's supposed to do (namely WORK), we've gone and got ourselves ANOTHER new system from a company here in Fort Wayne.
And it's not just another "big box" store. I've pretty much had my fill of them for the time being.
This is a small company with great expectations (of themselves), and I like to see people that have that mindset.
The company/website is called Ralipctech.com, and like I said, they're based right HERE (in River City, my friends).
They have a damn fine MISSION STATEMENT, and since I've seen them operate in the confines of our humble abode first-hand, I am very pleased with what I have seen thus far, both in expertise, and informational awareness (the OWNER was the person who installed and ran us through the system and answered every single question...and I asked a load of them).
We found out about them by word-of-mouth, and I suppose if you want to bypass all the "fluff" the big stores toss at you (for a price of course), you might want to give RaliPC a look-see.
If you're not "Puter-Savvy" as I tend to be these days, after the constantly changing technology (long live RPG-II and COBOL), then these people might be JUST what you're looking for.
With that said, let us move on and see what's shaking...
Matt Kelty pleaded GUILTY to 3 of 9 charges against him. He'll not do any jail times, but has to pay $750 in fines, will be on probation for a year, and have to perform 80 hours of community service. And he is barred from seeking any other political office due to the felony charges.
The prosecutor kept sweetening the deal until Matt had no other option, in my opinion. Kelty simply couldn't have had the funds to front a jury trial, especially since the "deck was stacked against him" already. MY views might bother some, but I look at it from aspect of being an "average" guy, with not even the amount of financial resources Kelty had, and should I see myself in a similar situation, most any of us would have no alternative but to plead to a lesser punishment even if we were, in fact innocent to begin with. It's a perfect storm of judicial prejudice.
And the way I see it, this "witch hunt" was destined to succeed, simply because of the verve in the pursuit of Kelty, when what should have been REALLY visited were the campaign financing LAWS. I'll wager a change will be in the wind to prevent another fiasco like the one that toppled Kelty.
Now I'm a basic kinda guy, which means I like things made SIMPLE. It's kind of hard to screw up SIMPLE, right?
So what I can determine from "KeltyGate" is that the "good old boy" network originally thought Peters was to be the "shoo-in"...OK, so that didn't pan out, because people felt a REAL change was needed, and that Kelty could provide it a lot better than Peters.
And since the ISSUES were the real crux of the mayoral matter, what better way to take our attention FROM those issues (which were dubious to begin with...like "Costaplenty Square"), pull some wool over peoples' eyes and trump up charges that stemmed from an inherent FLAW in the Indiana laws regulating campaign contributions, right?
It doesn't take a fan of Ferdinand II of Aragon (hold the thumb-screws) to figure out THIS no-brainer, does it?
Still, it does speak to what this city faces, the direction it SHOULD be headed, as opposed to the way it IS headed, and to it's inevitable inclusion into the realm of "big-city politics". We might as well call ourselves "Little Indy" for that matter.
I do hope Kelty manages to reaffirm his good name, and that his business does not suffer in the process. We ALL make mistakes, and Matt deserves to same chance to rectify those mistakes as do we all.
Right now, I'm sure all he wishes to do is place this as far behind him as possible, and move AHEAD with his (and his family's) life.
And to Matt Kelty, if you're reading this, and you want to do some "community service" down in MY neighborhood by raking some leaves or cleaning up an alley or two, or whatever else (I have no idea what such "service" would entail, obviously), feel free to stop by. I'll provide a damn good meal for you. Remember, you still have many friends in this city.
Every dog has it's day, and those who fought you WILL receive theirs in due time.
I suppose that any OTHER candidate that seeks a major office in this city (for the time being anyway) will be raked over similar coals and be scrutinized to such a degree, that it will make it impossible to knock down this city's political house of cards.
The status quo will remain intact...for now.
But the people WILL be watching...and voicing their opinions via the blogosphere.
And maybe...if we live long enough, we will be witness to honest-to-God progress in this city.
Lord knows we've seen our share of the flip side to THAT coin already.
Now, how about calling Jim Anderson at the Fort Wayne Childrens' Zoo to see if he can provide some information on the CARE AND FEEDING of some WHITE ELEPHANTS we're trying to raise downtown, hmm?

How does one send you a private email?

Ahh....that can be a little complicated, as I have a block on everyone but those on my NON BLOCKED list (for my AOL addy).
The way MY luck is with computers (must be my "magnetic" personality that affects the hardware), I try to avoid as many troubles as possible.

If it's something that simply cannot be said here (even with MY low readership...LOL), then perhaps I can work something out.
I do have Yahoo! addresses.
Thanks,

B.G.

Could you just not post my comment, if I send you my email?
I don't mean to be difficult... just taking your advice about electronic trails, lol

Light lease fund...LMAO!
(nice one)

..Yet there ARE those out there that actually BELIEVE that I should run for a political office (given my "abilities")...can you imagine?
