Friday Follies...
We've made it to another weekend...and this country hasn't slipped over the socialistic precipice yet...amazing.
Sorry about the later post today, but the missus and I changed up our grocery day from Saturdays to Fridays (for the duration of summer vacation from school). But what's worth reading IS worth waiting for...this I promise you.
We are also knocking on the door of the 65th anniversary of D-Day; a very bloody day in military history.
** Before I get into that, though, let me back up a few days to the city of my birth, Philadelphia.
I want to speak to the violence that has been occurring there.
In the past two weeks, large bands of roaming teens have been attacking people in vehicles...for no apparent reason, other than the fact that they CAN.
Here are three links to this ongoing investigation:

Now I've always been told (and still believe) that THE IDLE MIND IS THE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND (used in the Broadway show THE MUSIC MAN), and these attacks show what can happen when "idle minds" decide to convene for mayhem.
One thing these stories DO NOT tell (but I know for a fact) is that the gangs that perpetrate these mass attacks are BLACK. This is in the near South Broad St. area (below center city).
Now while that area is known for a diverse population, blacks have been coming there en masse through text messaging and websites like OURSPACE (as the stories relate).
Philadelphia is already talking about instituting a CURFEW for people UNDER a specified age. And when the black kids are "curfewed", you can BET the ACLU and the NAACP will be all over this like flies on sh...well, you know.
It's a damn shame to see this kind of thing occur.
My memories of that area are nothing like what transpires there NOW.
Used to be able to grab a meal, check out the stores, and have a fantastic time.
Such is not the case today.
And again, I have to blame the behavior of these teens on the PARENTS.
I didn't get into this kind of trouble simple because MY PARENTS set guidelines for me as to behavioral standards, time constraints, activities, and the like. And it was either FOLLOW those guidelines...OR not be permitted to go ANYWHERE...with ANYONE.
Simple, huh?
Betcha it would STILL work today...and I'd wager it DOES with some households.
People TODAY don't seem to want to hold their kids to STANDARDS...at least NOT in the manner in which OUR generation grew up. And that winds up with what I spoke about the other day, namely having people with NO SENSE OF BOUNDARIES.
Unfortunately, in the black community, with birth rates for single moms skyrocketing, and black men not being held accountable for their sexual sojourns and being told to "man-up" to THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES, it's little wonder we see what we see on the news, night after night.
It's been bleeding over into the other ethnic communities as well as the white community.
NO ONE is immune any longer...everyone wants to be like everyone else (so much for INDIVIDUALISM).
And with everyone wanting to be like everyone else, it sure sounds like a socialist movement in in place here
All we need are those quilted pajamas and hats with little red stars on them.
"Well, it's just kids being kids" the leftists would have you believe.
Nonsense (read Bullsh*t!).
Kids don't act like enraged savages and attack people they don't know without cause or provocation for NO reason.
Kids should be shown that they cannot be kids ALL their lives, and that actions DO have consequences, good OR bad.
Philadelphia Police will be enlisting the aid of the State Police this weekend in the hopes of stopping this wanton destructive behavior on the streets.
Good luck with that, people.
** Tomorrow will mark another anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe by the allies.
It was on the early morning of June 6 that airborne forces were dropped behind enemy lines to cause havoc, as the invasion fleet set sail across the choppy waters of the English Channel to land at the five pre-designated beaches on the coast of France (Gold, Sword, Juno, Utah, an Omaha). Our allied forces were there to put a halt to the fascism that was bent on global domination.
And we were there because it was THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
(Gee, sounds a lot like other wars we fought in, doesn't it?)
We were there to SET PEOPLE FREE.
And we did what we HAD to do, saw it THROUGH until the end, and never wavered in our pursuit of VICTORY.
Yet, when we hear the latest rumblings from our nation's Capitol, and speeches made by OUR leaders throughout the world, we hear a very different message.
We're more concerned with apologizing for our nation "acting the way it does" (and we do) when someone wantonly invades OUR soil, kills OUR people, and seeks to do US harm.
Japan feared full well what they started when they noted that "we have awakened a sleeping giant".
So it was back on the shores of Normandy as well, on that morning in June, 1944.
In the Iraq war, we have lost a shade over 4300 soldiers, while on just that ONE DAY in France, we lost (unofficially, because some bodies were never recovered) 6603 soldiers. Remember, that was JUST ONE DAY!
War is never wanted or desired, but is often necessary and crucial to stem the tide of evil among men.
And those that have served never asked for any war to occur.
They simply heed the call of freedom and liberty, and do what needs to be done.
Often with great sacrifice.
Something to think about tomorrow...
And if you know any vets from WW2, take a minute to thank them.
Because they will not be with us that much longer, if they haven't already left on that "final patrol".
Remember WHY we fight...
It might just imbue you with a greater sense of pride in OUR country.
And Lord knows, we need that more than ever today.
So have a great weekend, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

My children never had curfews. They knew if they were going to be late, to call me so I wouldn't worry. But then I also knew my kids weren't off getting into too much mischief either. Although, there was that time my daughter called me, when she was on her way Back from Canada :|

I think the reputation of this country is quickly being shattered by an egomaniac. He is too busy sucking up to the very people that wish to see our demise. We will be lucky if we survive the next four years. Let alone survive with any semblance of "Free Nation" left in tact.

Right, curfews are NOT a problem when the kids follow directions and show responsibility like yours have...

And yes, I also think that the word "free" will be taking on a WHOLE new meaning.

But I hope to God I am WRONG!

Have a great weekend.

my parents were the razor strap hands on it kinda folks. they had curfews becouse they could. but, the one thing they said that i passed down to my daughter was the following...."WE WILL NOT COME AND GET YOU OUT OF JAIL" YOUR OWN YOUR OWN. well my daughter knew everytime i had to show up at the middle school in 6th grade she ended up getting a butt whipping as we were walking out the door to the car. i couldnt wait to get to the car. and NO i didnt get reported. she told me a few months ago that me being the way i am has saved her from getting into anymore trouble and the knowlege that i'll be DOG GONE PISSED IF I GET A CALL FROM JAIL. infact becouse of alot of my family members i do have alot of allen county and marion county jail calls blocked from my phone. some people in our family were blessed to be born a man becouse in my dads eyes they could do no wrong. i personally was born a woman and i wasnt going to think my mom or dad would change their mind. heck they probley would have greated me at the car with the razor strap in hand and got me with the metal side.

MY Dad said the exact same thing when it came to "getting out of jail free"...no CARDS to play there!
ANd he was always quick to note that "As long as you live under THIS roof...this house is NOT a democracy...what WE say...GOES".

And a damn fine plan it was, too.
(better to have the "board of education" applied to the "seat of knowledge", when required, than become a jailbird)
