Humpday Happenings...
Middle of the week, and pretty much the middle of the YEAR...how DO we manage to do it, hmm?
Found a few items you might find more than just a little interesting , so grab the coffee, pull the old chair up, and get set to take a walk on the WILD side.
** First up, here in Fort Wayne, we recently completed a new baseball stadium near our downtown.
Yeah, big deal, right?
Perhaps something similar is happening in YOUR city...or has already occurred.
Well, it IS a minor league team, and we ALREADY had a relatively new park (13 years old), but this NEW "complex" was touted as the ALPHA and OMEGA of our downtown "revitalization"...so it was shoved down the peoples' throats, in spite of an overwhelming cry to NOT build it.
But, build it they did anyway.
There is also a hotel going in there (and we really don't have venues that require MORE rooms, because we can't constantly fill the hotels and motels we have here as it is), and supposedly we have RETAIL going to be built near the stadium...that's what we're being told.
Weird thing is, and I called this venture "COSTAPLENTY SQUARE" from the start (actual name is HARRISON SQUARE and PARKVIEW FIELD), is that we're now hearing TWO completely DIFFERENT stories.
On story say this complex came in UNDER budget...the other says it has been OVER budget.
So WHO are we supposed to believe any who?
Here's the link to the article from today's paper about the project being OVER-budget:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20090617/LOCAL/306179993
As to the "other side of the story"?
Well, we must have to take someone's (Greg Leatherman) word for it...
Personally, I believe the paper's story, simply because the city wanted this SO bad, and would find some way to PAY for it, no matter WHAT the damn cost. That's what a LOT of government does...another case of "misdirection" I spoke about earlier this week.
Everyone forgot about the hotel being built on the WEST side that had to be TORN DOWN because the ground sank under the foundation and cracked the structure...attention spans must NOT be as long as they USED to be.
Besides, I never met a government yet (especially local) that is USED to spending LESS while doing MORE, have you?
** Fort Wayne also had an Amber Alert for a guy running from authorities in DETROIT with his children. He was caught HERE (and you're going to love this) after his Chevy Cobalt's ONSTAR SYSTEM alerted those looking for him of his location...(dumbass).
The kids were recovered, are OK, and "dad" was arrested for (it gets better)...DUI!
I guess stealing the kids and leaving Detroit stirs up one HELLUVA THIRST, hmm?
Oh, the guy was black, in case you were wondering....so typical.
Gonna be fun to watch this guy bounce back and forth from police department to police department. Maybe we should dub him the new "rubber-band man"?
** And speaking of dumbass criminal behavior, another black perp was running from police in California, and he hides in a STORM drain, where he managed to hold off police, even after tear gas was pumped into the drain. He finally came out and was arrested.
** Not enough dumbasses for you?
How about this?
A woman leaves a restaurant WITHOUT paying, and when employees run after the woman, she jumps into her car and attempts to drive off....RIGHT INTO THE DAMN RESTAURANT WALL! But we're not quite done...when she was pulled from the wrecked car, she was found to have $200 ON HER.
** Close to 50% of Americans would like to see the marijuana laws relaxed, and that would mean people toking on the streets legally (just as they do daily NOW in MY part of 'da hood')....all this aside from the "medical marijuana" debate.
BUT...(and that sound was the OTHER SHOE dropping)...consider THIS:
North Shore Republican to propose legislation setting penalties of up to 25 years in prison for selling 'kush'
By Lisa Black Tribune reporter - June 15, 2009
U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk will call for legislation Monday that would toughen drug-trafficking laws regarding a highly potent form of marijuana, with penalties of up to 25 years in prison for a first-time offense.
The law would target offenders who sell or distribute marijuana that has a THC content exceeding 15 percent, which is between 5 and 10 percentage points higher than average marijuana, according to Kirk's office. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main active ingredient in marijuana.
Drug dealers are increasingly cross-breeding plants to produce high-potency variants of marijuana, which are called "kush" in street slang when they have 20 percent THC, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said.
Police have been turning up more of the high-potency marijuana in Lake County arrests, he said."When you amplify the strength of it, you are increasing the harm to the system," said Curran, who supports the legislation, which would amend a federal law. "They are more dangerous behind the wheel of a vehicle. It's not a good idea to have people that messed up."
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has reported that kush sells for as high as $600 per ounce, creating the same profit potential as crack cocaine, Kirk said.
The Republican North Shore lawmaker said he plans to release more information during a news conference in Chicago on Monday, where he will be joined by representatives from the Lake County Sheriff's Department the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group and Waukegan Police Department.
Just something to think about...
** Lastly, in spite of legislation to help fund the war overseas, many representatives voted AGAINST the bill....
WHY, you ask?
Some of the money for the war effort was going to be DIVERTED somewhere else (probably another entity under the ACORN umbrella)...and many in Congress don't want YOU, the American people to KNOW about it. That's why.
And the reps that voted against it, got the short end of the stick...the money for the war effort (and the bill itself ) has PASSED...big surprise, hmm? Just more governmental MISDIRECTION, like I keep saying.
Pay attention to BOTH hands of these people....not the one they WANT you to look at.
You are going to be hearing more and more about DECEPTION and OBFUSCATION from our "civil servants" over the coming months...most of it won't be pretty, and much of it will simply shake your belief system in this country.
But you should steel your resolve when it comes to what YOU know to be true.
You should watch THEIR hands...and YOUR feet, if you want to find your way out of this house of (smoke and) mirrors.
This is still YOUR country, as it is mine, and we must do what is right, and just, and noble to ensure that this nation REMAINS OURS.
The truth WILL set you free, and your belief in the truth will be the driving force in the pursuit of liberty
Stay safe out there, America.
