Just Another "Magic" Monday?
Let's certainly hope not, right?
I mean be happy that YOUR morning didn't start out with your watch band breaking, and you scouring the house for that OLD watch band, just so you could salvage the parts off of it...
Yes, Virginia, sometimes it PAYS to not toss out things arbitrarily.
So, with a perfectly functioning watch band upon my wrist once again, it's time to welcome the Ides of June, and see what's shaking.
Have you ever seen a MAGIC ACT?
One where the guy (or gal) does some sleight-of-hand with cards, coins, or even a pachyderm?
That always amazed me from little on up.
Making things reappear when they vanish is something I've always had a yen to learn...
That would help out around the house to NO small end whenever I (or the missus) misplaces something...LOL!
These days, I look at such entertaining venues as something a little bit different.
I see POLITICS...(horrors)!
Think about it.
A magician does one thing while misdirecting us into "believing" that something else occurred.
Houdini was a MASTER at this.
yet, any GOOD magician knows full well, that his act DEPENDS on something I like to call....MISDIRECTION.
If we REALLY knew what his LEFT HAND was doing, we wouldn't be watching that RIGHT HAND of his, would we?
Same goes for politics.
Doesn't matter if it's on the LOCAL level, or at the FEDERAL level.
Today's political arena is replete with ways to MISDIRECT...misguide the public into thinking ONE thing, while something else (usually 180 degrees the other way) is taking place.
And just like the kids we were watching that man makes cards appear from his mouth, we FALL FOR IT...hook, line, and sinker.
And we applaud the deception many times, because it was SO well mastered. Damn shame a lot of us aren't paying attention to what is REALLY happening, isn't it?
Still, we ARE being "entertained", aren't we? And that's what it's ALWAYS all about, anyway, right?
Well, friends, maybe it's time to look at things a bit more closely.
Perhaps we NEED to look at "things" more closely.
As an example, our Mayor of the "realm" of Fort Wayne (King Thomas of Henry) is touted as being the "Peoples' mayor". We see him at damn near every function, lending his sage words and presence, and for the most part, that makes him seem like a real "regular" kinda guy.
That's what we are seeing.
What we're NOT seeing, is that he's taking over $3K a month of the TAXPAYERS' money for lobbying (for a casino) in this city.
A prefect case of "misdirection", if ever I saw one.
Another example is all this "stimulus" bullsh*t.
All these "programs" designed to take us and push us all over the precipice of Socialism are nothing more than that RIGHT hand at work, while that LEFT hand does all this "warm and fuzzy" rhetoric we see and hear, designed to lull us into that false sense of security.
My wife brought up a funny things she heard on the radio, and I have to share it. This goes hand-in-hand with what I'm talking about...all this "misdirection", or what SHOULD have been done, anyway.
I recently heard that SIX FLAGS is now claiming bankruptcy...been in the RED since the late 1990s, but NOW, they want "in" on this bailout BS. Can't really blame them, but WHY hasn't something been done to head all this crap off AT THE PASS...like, say TEN YEARS AGO?
Then, there's this closing of GUANTANAMO "Camp Delta", and sending the "detainees" to somewhere ELSE...like BERMUDA (guess we should have let the UK know about that...maybe next week?) or even the USA.
Now, if this were done "right", we could perfectly "misdirect" everyone with this IDEA, and make everyone happy once more...
Stay with me now.
Everything in this world is about MARKETING.
If something isn't marketed correctly, no one wants it...period.
AND...you just GOTTA make it all "entertaining".
SO...what we SHOULD have done a few years back was to MARKET Camp Delta differently...like say "SIX FLAGS OVER GITMO".
See?
Simple solution, huh?
Six Flags gets much needed funds for solvency (from the FEDS, no less), and doesn't even get close to becoming bankrupt, WE get another "theme park", (keep your hands in the car, and do not feed the animals) and Gitmo stays open indefinitely. Waterboarding becomes a new LOG FLUME attraction!
No more problems at all. eh?
I mean who, in their right mind would CLOSE DOWN a THEME PARK, anyway, right?
A CLASSIC case of the PROPER use of "misdirection".
But I digress...
What WE, as U.S. citizens have to start doing (if we're not doing it already) is start watching BOTH HANDS of whatever "magician" is on stage at the moment. We need to take a peek "behind the curtain" from time to time, in order to make sure we're not being bamboozled (again).
We need to make informed decisions, based on ALL the facts, not some misdirected ploy, designed to ultimately have us all choking to death from PABLUM OVERDOSE.
We have to start analyzing, scrutinizing, and making a lot better choices when it comes to factual conclusions.
We need to see BEYOND the deceptions, the misdirections, and the obfuscations.
I mean, our future DOES (and will) depend on such things...as will our childrens' future.
It's fine to enjoy a good magic act once in a while, but when this type of thing becomes commonplace, and becomes intrusive into more aspects of OUR lives, designed SOLELY to get our minds off of what is REALLY going on, that makes us out to be buffoons.
I think too many of us are made of much sterner stuff.
And I think that person staring back at you from your mirror would ALSO agree.
