Okay, so I'm reading our local paper, and I notice that here in fort Wayne, this weekend is the weekend for the traditional JOHNNY APPLESEED Festival.
Now, I've read my stories from history class, and I know the "legend"...and apparently, John Chapman is a pretty big "deal" here in Indiana.

So, I "get it" when it comes to embracing an icon...or an idea...or even the founding of a nation.
But THIS year is a little different in Fort Wayne, as we've got an addition to this weekend's festivities about town.

And here's the link to the story:

Now, don't we ALREADY have a BLACK HISTORY MONTH? And don't we ALSO have a "rib-fest" downtown in Fort Wayne?
I find it a bit curious that this "fest" is the SAME day as the JAF here. It's as if to say "we have to compete with all the white folks and their festival". I mean, God forbid the poor, shunned whites have one stinking weekend to honor and celebrate someone like Johnny Appleseed (because we don't have a WHITE HISTORY MONTH...that's "racist")...a hard-working American who planted apple seeds and basically promoted nothing bad in life.
But, we DO have to be "equal" here...no racism, remember?
So, we HAVE to celebrate ALL the African (with a *C*), Afro-Cuban and Trinidadian cultures.
Sorry, but this smacks of racism on the OTHER side of the fence, as if blacks HAVE to detract from something white.
Well, it's not like that's NOT been happening across America over the decades since the Civil Rights Act, is it?

Others have just sat on the bench, "collecting wood", and letting everyone ELSE do everything FOR THEM in THEIR lives.
And God help if you call them on that...you're a racist.
You're NOT concerned about the failings of your "fellow man"...you're simply a racist.
Funny how much of the inner-city BLACK community never seems to figure that one out. Wonder why that is?
That makes about as much sense as watching these welfare-laden lazy asses "celebrate" EVERY frigging holiday that the WORKING stiffs manage to have off... These people have EVERY DAMN DAY OFF as it IS...there's NO need to celebrate ANY holiday, because EVERY day IS a holiday FOR THEM (and at the taxpayers' expense). The LEAST you would expect is that "they" would invite everyone else who DOES work to the party...'ya think?
But hey, I'm just presenting the FACTS...and that makes me a racist (as well as all of you that also know this to be true).
My wife and I make fun of it these days. Any time I quote from the paper, or make a comment or state facts, figures and the truth, I always add "but that's because I'm a racist".

And maybe that's WHY I take exception to all this bickering with the (mostly) lower-class blacks. I still believe in EQUALITY...and NOT supremacy. Yeah, I know that sounds SO damn Draconian these days, but that's just me.
But it's when ONE race DOES get "more than equal" treatment and it's STILL called "equality" that gets MY goat.
And this refers back to that DOUBLE-STANDARD-ITIS I mentioned yesterday that's prevalent in America today,.
When you will ALLOW people to remain "on the dole" and not reprimand them for being LAZY, but instead call them "poverty-stricken", when in fact they are NOT, that is certainly not EQUALITY by ANY stretch of any imagination.

Now why this entitlement-laden gravy train has been allowed to chug along America's societal tracks is anybody's guess.
Personally, I'd like to see it reach the damn station, so we can get all the flotsam OFF and have them assimilate back INTO the ranks of normalcy.
Those that come to know me, realize that I'm a pretty easy-going kind of guy. I don't take any crap, and will tell you the truth if you ask me a question. I believe that everyone has value. Whether or not they decide to utilize that in their life or not, is THEIR decision...not mine, and I will make my assessment of those people based on that.
I will notice how you attire yourself, how you behave, and how you speak, and again, make my decision about you based on YOUR presentation, and not my "guess" or perception. By this, YOU will be telling ME how you wish to be noticed and treated in life, and I will act accordingly.
If I ever harbor any animosity towards people, I would have to say that it is ONLY because THEY have demonstrated to ME that they're incapable of respecting others, as they can't even respect themselves. I can never get to "know my neighbors" when they make NO overtures to get to know me. Besides, who wants to get to know people who commit welfare fraud, do drugs or sell drugs, are louder than most airhorns whenever they open their pieholes, have no ambition, no integrity, no shame, and no willingness to ever become a useful individual...hmm?

Simple, huh?
There is coming a time in this nation when playing the race card, and letting someone ELSE do all the work while free money is handed out will NO LONGER be tolerated. I see it as a time when people will be able to live peaceably one with another, because everyone is striving towards the same goals...a decent job, a nice house, children with a good value system...things we USED to have in a lot greater abundance.
That time will no longer be based on any form of supremacy, but will be, as Dr. King once envisioned, a time when ALL men will truly be equal.

Damn shame many of us won't be around to see it....that would have been nice.
But I'm a racist and I DO believe in Dr. King's teachings...wow, who'da thunk?
So maybe all that BS about "racism" is really UNFOUNDED...and MISPLACED...and MISDIRECTED.
Yeah, I knew as much...so typical of the ones wearing blinders in life.
Nice to know a lot of us are not afraid to see things AS THEY ARE.
And it's nice to know we can say what we mean in the process, as well as mean what we say.
We might not be perfect, but by God, most of us are trying out damnedest to get there.
Not such a bad thing to aspire to, is it?
Do have a good weekend, and remember...
Stay safe out here, America.

Everyone is perfect, in their own world ;)
By the way, I am getting tired of "someday".
EL:
Yeah, that "someday's been a LONNNNNNGGGG time coming, hasn't it?
Still waiting.
I've been told that I live in MY own world, but that's fine...everyone THERE knows my name...LOL!
Have a great weekend.
:)
Maybe they could arrange it so the The "Breath of Afrika" (sic) Fest follows the Rib Fest...
Anon:
Now I think that's a GREAT idea...or make it a PART of RIB FEST or Black History Month...either way...sounds like a PLAN!
Thanks for commenting.
