Monday Musings...
Yes friends...another week awaits us.
Time to get it in gear and roll ever onward.
Should be an interesting week, too.
So, please observe all signage and feel free to return your stewardess to her normal upright position.
** Just want to extend a happy and blessed Yom Kippur (also known as the Day Of Atonement) to those in observance of this, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.
Here's the WIKI for the holiday history
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur
** And wouldn't you just KNOW it...coincidentally, Iran goes and shoots off a THIRD mid-range missile...
Now, I'm sure there is nothing celebratory THERE.
Hey, maybe like those NUCLEAR facilities Iran already has...perhaps this missile is ALSO for "medical research".
(rolls eyes)...Sure, we're all okay with THAT "explanation", aren't we?
Tell you one thing...how we (and other nations that feel similarly) deal with Iran in the coming months will definitely set the tone for the entire middle eastern region...for YEARS.
** Curiously, I saw on Fox News earlier how ONLY 25% of suspects are prosecuted regarding terrorist activities HERE in the USA.
So, if my math is correct, that leaves 75% to walk free and otherwise try, try again, whatever it is they were FIRST arrested for by authorities. Now, that certainly seems "fair", doesn't it?
Good old Hassan Bin Sober and his cronies get to keep on trying their form of Jihad until they get it right (and we lose innocent people).
And people (like me) maintain that we have a flawed judicial system...pshaw!
What AM I thinking?
** A little closer to home, here in Fort Wayne, we are now up to SEVENTEEN homicides for the year, just so you people with "pools" at work can keep track. The latest was a shooting that was believed to have occurred near the area of Winter St. & Fairfax (gee, that's practically a stone's throw from OUR house...must explain the 3 "pops" I heard the other night, even though I couldn't dial in where EXACTLY it was coming from). Betcha even money that one of our ethnic communities was involved somehow, just like that stabbing at Fair Oaks Apartments the other night. Amazing how "coincidental" that is...perhaps they've drinking the same stuff IRAN is...'ya think?
Here's the link to the story:

I still predict 25 (or more) homicides, so you criminals better get busy, dammit!
You thugs get right out there and start killing ONE ANOTHER (and make our city safer as a result), alright?
Stop all this lallygagging!
Yeah, I know sometimes it's ALMOST like REAL WORK (that you never done a honest day of in your pathetic lives), but I have confidence in all you lowlifes.
In other happenings...
** Ken Burns premiered a new series last night on PBS about out NATIONAL PARKS.
And since I love ANYTHING that Burns touches, this is a MUST WATCH.
The series continues every night this week (check your local listings for time and channel).
** Last night was also the premiere of The Cleveland Show...a spin off from Family Guy (which also had it's season premiere as well as American Dad). That was a good 90 minutes of pungent social comment...and laughs. Need all we can get THESE days.
** There was a really good article in Sunday's paper (editorial section), about this new trash contract for our city...
here's the link for the OP-ED article:
http://www.journalgazette.com/article/20090927/EDIT07/309279936/1021/EDIT Now maybe some of you in other cities have similar problems or concerns.
It just amazes me that OUR city would even consider signing off on a trash hauler with NO prior experience, NO equipment, and not much else but a sincere desire to haul away our trash and recycling, and place it all in the nice little town of Portland (45 minutes south of here) in THEIR landfill.
Let's please forget the logistics in HAULING this stuff (through other smaller towns along the way), or possible traffic tie-ups, severe weather conditions, and the like.
In other words, let's all toss the COMMON SENSE out the damn window, shall we?
One of the "Henry" boys is behind this, so it MUST be OK.
I mean, I could get a group of people together and do the same damn thing, right?
We'd also have NO prior trash-hauling experience and no equipment EITHER, so we'd be right on par with the EARTH-FIRST business.
(sounds like a bunch of tree-huggers anyway)
I love the good-old-boy network here...hooray for yourselves, and to hell with the rest of us, hmm?
How many shootings you have in YOUR neighborhood, Mr. Mayor?
How many drug deals,...or Section 8 rentals...or short-dumps...or police calls you have in YOUR area, Mr. Mayor?
I'll betcha not NEAR as many as "we" enjoy down here...
You worry about the city coffers...the budgetary problems on this city, and yet none of you EVER address the REAL problem causing the lack of money. You have LESS revenue because of all the lazy-asses sucking the money from your pockets via entitlements. Got too many "gimmes" and not enough taxpayers to carry that load.
You can't get blood from a stone, and what you've got on the south side of town is a damn QUARRY, Mr. Mayor.
You've got the SECOND HIGHEST amount of BUYING POWER down here, but you ALSO have the LARGEST concentration of "unemployed" people and welfare recipients...now, tell me how the f$ck can that BE, anyway?
Something doesn't add up here.
You're forcing the rest of the city residents to pay for the lack of vision and motivation for those dwelling on the south side of town (for free, or at least relatively cheap)...way to go. It's no wonder that the drug trade is thriving (along with other crimes), otherwise these "locals" down here wouldn't be able to afford those $3000 RIMS...or those $1500 TIRES to go on the rims...or that $2500 low-end super-bass car stereo that keeps us all up at night...or even that $1000+"kameleon" paint job of that "classic-plated" 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
It unfortunately makes a case for legalizing drugs, JUST so you (the city) could garner some TAX revenue...not MY first choice.
Guess you're all running out of options down at City Hall, hmm?
Well, YOU dug yourselves into this craphole, and I didn't contribute to it one damn bit, so YOU are probably going to have to figure a way OUT of it...unless you want to CONTINUE to see revenues fall (as people move away).
Wanna see the (likely) future of Ft. Wayne? Look to Detroit.
It's not a pretty picture...just the facts.
But HEY...it's not like you or I couldn't see this coning, right?
Difference IS...I know WHY it was coming...and you people didn't.
(told ya so...all too often)
Nevertheless, it IS only Monday...got the rest of the week to slap city hall about, so let's not do it ALL in one day. There's plenty of time, and lots of faces. And I still have two fairly good hands...LOL.
So enjoy today, and keep close to you the knowledge that TOMORROW...IS...another day.
(thank you, Scarlett)
Have a great week, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

when i was a young girl i was in a club. this club was a very good club about learning about future jobs. the mayor's sister was in one of the clubs and was president and i was in another one and was president. the presidents would get together at the headquarters and we would go on trips and events together. so eventually i got to go to her familys home. on the wall of the house were pictures lined up of her brothers and sisters and her father and mother intruduced me to whom was present and show me the pics and interduced me to them saying what they did for a living and whom those people were. even though i didnt come from such a big family i did have an 18 year differance between my sister and i. i only went a few times. i dont know why but, it wasnt my cub of tea.

Indy:
Some clubs do a LOT of good for young people...others, not so much.

I think some clubs are formed JUST to allow the "haves" another place to flaunt thier status.

ANd that's too bad...makes those of us TRYING to make a REAL difference in our city seem insignificant sometimes.

Thanks for stopping by.
