The Proof Of The Pudding Is In The Eating...
Now, before we get saddled up here, let's explain that the title phrase for this post is NEVER (nor should ever be) "The proof is in the pudding". That doesn't make a damn bit of sense, so we're going with the PROPER phrase.
(Yeah, that's right. See what happens when you marry an ENGLISH teacher?)
Next, before you all scurry off and whip up some Jell-O chocolate instant pudding, we're using this as an analogy only, so we can "ease" you into today's commentary.
** Last night's speech on health care by the PREZ was pretty good...as speeches go. The PRESENTATION was above par.
It was the CONTENT of it that (imho) made no sense to me.
Obama claimed that although this program will cost NINE HUNDRED BILLION bucks within TEN years, it will NOT (you heard right) raise taxes, or basically cost the taxpayer any more money!
Really? REALLY?
How the hell can this program NOT cost money when someone will be blowing nine hundred billion dollars along the way?
The Prez said that "cutting the waste" in the current system would pay some, if not most of the cost of the "new" program.
REALLY???
That's a HELLUVA lot of waste there...(apparently).
How's about we do what I said yesterday...chat up the DRUG MAKERS and tell them to check their bottom lines to make their products more AFFORDABLE...damn good place to start.
Another "sticking point" was the fact that the Prez "claimed" that ILLEGAL ALIENS would not have access to the same program the U.S. citizens would... (I'll wait for you, so you can let that sink in)...
Illegals WILL get health care. Hell, they ALREADY get it, thanks to something called the HIPPOCRATIC OATH.
And "if" you're into the NUMBERS game, think on this...
The Prez said that there are FORTY SIX MILLION AMERICANS without health care in this nation.
OK, so "if" there are (at least) TEN MILLION ILLEGALS here, then that number SHOULD be more like THIRTY SIX MILLION, right?
(Unless someone WILL be paying for those other "ten million", right?)
OR...we could look at the FACT that we've had (since 1952 - the year I was born) close to THREE-HUNDRED-THOUSAND ILLEGALS coming across our borders...PER YEAR.
I challenge anyone to "do the math" here.
Take that 300,000 and multiply it by 57 years... (I'll wait)
The number is more like SEVENTEEN MILLION (and 100,000), and THAT is a ROCK BOTTOM number.
Actually, it's more like THIRTY MILLION ILLEGALS, because a lot more than the initial 300,000 have come across the borders just within the past decade (per year).
So, WHO exactly is doing this federal "accounting" these days?
Cripes, a 5-year old could do a crapload better...and with fewer errors!
How's all THIS kind of "hope and change" lookin' THESE days, hmm?
But still, it WAS a good speech (for a Presidential primary).
It just was a tad beyond reason for me.
And to think that some congressmen shouted out during the speech. Of course, the DEMS wanted to all but lynch this rep. from SOUTH CAROLINA (Joe Wilson, a Republican). They had the gall to ask for his resignation (and he DID apologize...I wouldn't have), as if to say "If you're not with us, then we're ousting you". Yeah, nothing shouts FREEDOM & LIBERTY quite like THAT, does it?
Given the nature of the venue, perhaps a vociferous "public" outcry might seem just a bit severe (Pelosi look like she had a bloody STROKE...didn't know she could show ANY emotion with THAT tight face of hers).
Still, the Founding Fathers (who are still rolling in their graves, albeit a lot FASTER these days) didn't always stand on "decorum", but were given to outright, in-your-face shouting matches as they forged the documents that created this country of ours (and theirs).
If it were ME, I'd have just gotten up and walked the hell OUT in the middle, if I felt THAT strongly (as the congressman apparently did).
That would certainly make the morning news (and YouTube)...lol!
Then again, politicians LOVE to make mountains out of mole hills...that's probably WHY we have AS MANY problems with our government as we currently do.
I wonder how many of those politicians will want to "sign on" to this new health care program???
(betcha won't be a single one...just a hunch)

There was a "gentleman" who hijacked a Mexican airliner yesterday.

Now what we have HERE is a classic case of that "Special Kind of Stupid" you've heard tell about (and get to see practiced more than once in a while in Washington, D.C.) for some time.
This guy was an alcoholic, a drug addict (guess shooting up on the streets of Tijuana didn't cut it), and a religious fanatic.
I didn't know anyone could BE ALL THREE AT ONCE...amazing.
The hijacker is Bolivian-born (must have a GOOD crop of opium down there, hmm?), and professes to be a MINISTER (helluva church you got there, "rev"), and was TOLD BY GOD to hijack the 737 outbound from Cancun (didn't know GOD needed a plane these days, what with the cost of fuel, and security checkpoints, and stuff).
If you notice in the picture, the "police" guarding the hijacker are ALL carrying M16A4 carbines...!
I guess we, in America DO have guns going south of OUR border after all...quick, call Hillary Clinton. We found those nasty gunrunners...they're the Mexican Special Forces...LOL!
Seriously, we DO SELL guns to nations like MEXICO. Where they go after we sell them is anyone's guess...but I know where TWO of them are. (wink, wink...nudge, nudge...look at the photo)
I just find this story amusing. Guy has fake bomb, has personal issues out the Wazoo, wants to meet with Calderone, smiles when being led off the plane, gonna do some serious jail time...yeah, it's funny, in a pathetic way.
He could have just snuck into America at El Paso, founded a church in San Diego, got a tax break for being a non-taxable entity, got himself a following, started some sort of movement, and pass out Kool-Aid laced with cyanide killing everyone in the congregation, and made the 11 o'clock news the RIGHT way.
Yeah, who says America still isn't the "land of opportunity"?
Sadly, the "rev" might never find out...will he?
So, while you're all our doing whatever you have to do, be sure to OBSERVE that which needs observation, QUESTION that which needs questioning, and SPEAK that which needs to be spoken.
And do it all with BOLDNESS...NOT arrogance.
That's the job of the politicians.
