Believe It...Or ELSE...
Yes,indeed...time once again for that part of the day when you sit yourself down, pour your favorite beverage, and marvel at the inanity of the human race. Now, like my Dad used to say:
"Everyone is entitled to do something dumb, but there ARE those that abuse the privilege."
With that in mind, let us go forth and see what we can see.
** This tale is a bit too disturbing, but is a fact of our times.
Here is a link to the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20091110/LOCAL/311109997/1002/LOCAL
It tells about a 19 year old, having just given birth, and then dumping her baby into a dumpster.
Indiana has a "drop-off" program, for lack of a better term, where a person has up to FORTY days to leave an infant at a designated place for care or adoption...simple, huh?
Not so for this young mother.
I won't go into detail, because if you read the story, you'll understand, but here is another case of already having programs in place to AVOID such a situation than went for naught.
I'm just glad the infant is doing well...things could have been a LOT worse.
** More about the "Roulette" player...that WON...or LOST, depending on your POV.
((From the Journal Gazette - The death of a 20-year-old man who was shot to death Saturday at a party has been ruled a
suicide, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Nickolas Thomas of Fort Wayne died of a gunshot wound to the head, an autopsy found.
Fort Wayne police were called to a report of a shooting just before 5 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 2600 block of Carver Court, off Covington Road near Brooklyn Avenue.
Police found Thomas critically wounded. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police said a party was under way when the shooting occurred, and initial findings show Thomas was playing Russian roulette.
Several of the partygoers were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Police spokesman officer Michael Joyner said no other partygoers are believed to have taken part in the game. Police believe Thomas loaded the gun in front of others and fired the fatal shot.
Because the case was ruled a suicide, no charges will be filed against any partygoers, Joyner said.
Russian roulette is a potentially deadly stunt in which a participant puts a single round in a revolver, spins the chamber, then pulls the trigger – giving him a chance of the weapon discharging.
habrams@jg.net))
Now, this is another product of a desensitized society. Funny thing about Russian Roulette - you can never hit the "RESET" button if the outcome wasn't what you had in mind.
Sorry, but NONE of the parties I EVER attended had Russian Roulette as an "extra added attraction".
And to think your kids might wind up going to a party like this...
Time to get nosy in THEIR lives, for THEIR safety and YOUR peace of mind.
** When LEGAL guns become ILLEGAL...
((Allen County police are seeking the public’s help after guns were stolen from a sheriff’s deputy’s home during a weekend burglary.
The burglary was reported about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 11000 block of South Anthony
Extended. Someone entered the deputy’s home and stole a police gun belt, a department-issued police radio, a department-issued Sig Sauer P220 .45-caliber handgun and a Walther PPK .380-caliber handgun, according to Sgt. Steve Stone, Allen County police spokesman.
A witness told police a black car was parked in the home’s driveway between 9:30 and 10 a.m. that day. Later, another witness reported seeing a black Ford Taurus in the area occupied by several people. A woman and a man exited that vehicle and were seen walking down South Anthony Extended, Stone said.
Anyone with information on the burglary should call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.))
Now, I'm not blaming the officer, as he was targeted BY the thieves.
But I am blaming those had the audacity to burglarize a LEO's house, and placing TWO formerly LEGAL guns on the street as ILLEGAL firearms. This is not a case of a crime of opportunity. There was some PLANNING to this, and I hope whoever did it gets the book tossed at them...several times over.
** More on the South side shooting...
((Fort Wayne police said Monday they have no suspects in the weekend shooting death of a Fort Wayne man on the city’s southeast side. Michael Lamont Causey, 20, was shot Sunday afternoon as the car he was driving approached a stop sign near Hanna and Senate streets.
An autopsy was performed Monday and Causey’s shooting death was ruled the city’s 19th homicide of 2009, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Witnesses told police a black pickup truck with dark-tinted windows drove alongside Causey’s car as he headed west on Senate at South Hanna Street shortly before 1 p.m. Causey’s family said he was driving to his sister’s home on Avondale Drive for a barbecue when he was shot.
Police spokesman officer Michael Joyner said detectives believe Causey exchanged words with the shooter just before gunshots rang out.
Joyner declined to comment on possible motives for the shooting. Causey’s family said they were cooperating with police, but had no idea what might have prompted the killing.
Causey, who once attended South Side High School, had planned on getting his GED and dreamed of joining the armed forces, said his mother, Linda Causey.
"He loved his family," she said.
Causey, born and raised in Fort Wayne, is also survived by an older sister, Shaquana, 30; and younger sister, Ashley, 9.
"He took real good care of (Ashley). He was her little protector," said his aunt, Paula Dickey.
In his spare time, Causey enjoyed playing video games and was an avid basketball and football fan. Causey also loved music, and his mother described him as a "well-liked person."
Funeral arrangements are being prepared at Carmichael Funeral Services.
habrams@jg.net))
So, he did NOT "graduate" from High School...hmm, wonder WHY?
And WHERE, EXACTLY was he "employed"?
He LOVED basketball, PLANNED on getting his GED, and he was (according to biased family members) nothing short of a MODEL CITIZEN...who just happened to get shot for "NO" reason?
Sounds like another stereotypical young male in my part of town to me. Nothing new there.
Yeah, lemme crunch the numbers on THAT tale and get back to 'ya.
** Lastly, some good news.
The Virginia sniper, John Muhammed is scheduled to be euthanized...I mean EXECUTED later tonight.
(about damn time - cost the taxpayers a ton of money to keep his sorry ass alive)
Gee, and it ONLY took SEVEN years...man, that "speedy trial" gig IS really working, isn't it?
I suppose the families of his victims will never get the closure they need, but this goes a long way to aid their grieving and healing process.
It makes me wonder when we see crimes like those mentioned above being perpetrated by people BARELY into their 20s.
It makes me wonder why WE (my generation) didn't do similar things when we were growing up.
Maybe it was the fact that we had REAL FAMILIES bringing us up.
Maybe it was our growing knowledge of "cause and effect" that kept us from doing bad.
Maybe it was the fear of those CONSEQUENCES that kept our "mindless primitives" at bay.
Or perhaps, it was a combination of ALL of those...and more.
I'd like to think it was, as well as a sense of MORALITY, and DECENCY towards ourselves AND our fellow man.
Times today ARE different than they were 40-50 years ago.
Back then, all we had to worry about was getting NUKED...and passing Math.
But we were endowed with much more BY many more. And maybe, just maybe it wouldn't hurt us to take another look at that for THIS generation
Lord KNOWS they could use the help.
Stay safe out there, America.

Well, you know what I say, Bob? "Stupid people, God's proof that evolution is BUNK." Because, let's face it, if it were real and the earth as old as scientists claim, stupidity would've been evolved out of us by now.

Jami:
Yeah, that whole Darwinian "dog" doesn't seem to want to hunt for SOME folks, does it?

Stupidity (as are ALL other bad decisions in life)happens to occur mostly by CHOICE.
Ditto for that which we do that is GOOD in life.
THOSE thigns are what defines EACH of us.

OUR Choice comes from a series of events that "we" are part and parcel to, occuring "as designed", unless something or someone else intervenes.

Sounds a lot like that physics law...
"Objects IN MOTION will remain in motion, unless acted upon by an outside force."

This applies to everything in the universe, and the LAST time I checked, we're still a part OF it.
(who knew?)

did you see the age ranges of his sisters? wow.

the baby in the trash can unnerved me. even as a woman we does not ever want anymore kids i would have taken in the poor thing and raised it. noone deserve that. i only pray when this child gets old enough they will know the story and be able to take it to the schools and tell young women and men on what not to do with any unwanted children.

I'm glad I'M not the only one that noticed that. I was talking to the missus about the same thing...

Many people paint this young woman as a monster...and I have to disagree.
A monster is the VA sniper...or the 9/11 bombers...or Jeffrey Dahmer.

This woman has some very troubling issues that need looking into.

Claiming to be "scared" is one thing, but to make an effort to snuff out a newborn's life is quite the other.

WHat she did can be considered horrible on MANY levels, and Lord knows the infant's NOT to blame.

We've become a people of INSTANT gratification, and DISPOSABLE everything.

Perhaps we should look at OUR SOCIETY itself, and how we've changed over the last 50 years...I think THERE is where the "real monsters" dwell.

Thanks for stopping by.
