Friday Follies...
I know you're going to find this hard to believe, but the temperatures will actually be ABOVE freezing during the weekend.
Yeah, I know...how weird is THAT?
But hey, I live in S/E Fort Wayne...WEIRD is part of the job!
--First up, show of hands time.
How many of you know WHAT DAY of the week you have to put out the old trash bin?
And how many of you place the can back after it's collected?
Well, around here, it's more like "whatever you feel like doing and whenever you get around to doing it" for a lot of people.
Our collection day is THURSDAY (now pay attention), so we can put the trash out after 12 noon the day before.
You with me so far?
WHY then, do people LEAVE the bin out at the collection point (curb) ALL DAMN WEEK?
And WHY does it take them THREE DAYS to figure out they have to put it back?
Mind you, these are people that DO NOT WORK, are home ALL day and night, every day of every week of every month of every year.
There is simply NO excuse for this simple act of compliance to the "rules", as set down by the city's Department of Waste Management.
I'll wager that those of you in areas NOT blighted don't even consider this an issue, do you?
You just can't get the "ghetto" out of some people now, can you?
But, anyway...moving along...
--Nancy Pelosi was talking about job losses the other day and she was quoted as saying that "500 million Americans will lose their job every month,if we don't act on this stimulus plan".
Now methinks her math is a tad "off", even IF you figure in all the wetback illegals that have come into America over the decades.
America has about THREE-hundred million folks (give or take), not FIVE hundred million.
Cripes, at the rate SHE mentioned, the entire WORLD population would be unemployed by weeks end!
I just thought it a beautifully ignorant faux-pas.
--We're hearing more and more about students "sexting" on their cell phones.
Well, I don't have a cell phone, and I don't have any kids (that I know of...lol), but I will say that THIS is the kind of stuff that WILL happen when technology is placed in the hands of those too stupid to know what it "could" be used for.
You can have all the technology in the damn world, but without the WISDOM to properly utilize it in the manner intended, it's going to lead to trouble. We're already seeing it.
Driving becomes a hazard. Students have to deal with "private" pictures becoming public, and the simple everyday nuances such as social intercourse and dialogue are supplanted by text-messaging. We simply don't have to time for a "face-to-face" anymore. Same goes for writing a proper LETTER. We don't do it anymore.
We can take cell phone pictures of a person getting set upon by a group of young thugs, but we can't seem to bring ourselves to "get involved", other than to post it on YouTube! Calling the police is farther down our immediate "to-do" list, it would seem. And God forbid we take PHYSICAL action. Oh, we'll be sued out the ass for sure then, won't we?
If the day comes when I get a cell phone, I want it SIMPLE. I want a PHONE first, and then MAYBE a camera on board. I don't need the Internet (that's what computers are for), or an MP3 player (that's what a RADIO is for), and I don't need to play games (that's what a PlayStation and board games are for). Just provide me with a damn PHONE.
--Next...
Too many times, we see our youth raising themselves, and that's not a good thing.
Our society has seen fit to otherwise negate parental authority by providing our kids with everything and anything JUST to get them at odds with parents. We look to technologies to solve parenting problems. We look to schools to babysit them, when these institutions should be allowed to TEACH them, and we see media and marketing gurus providing something "other" than family life and the values it inherently spouses.
If you see ONE movie in the remainder of your life, take a look at WILD IN THE STREETS.
It came out in 1968 (adapted from a short story by Robert Thom) , and was labeled a "satire", but upon closer examination, it would appear more prophetical than anything else.
It deals with a charismatic person who seeks the Presidency, and take the YOUTH of the nation along for the "ride".
And it's got an interesting ending to boot.
Makes you wonder "where does this all end"?
--Finally today, amidst all the bailouts, the stimuli, the digital conversions, and the media hype, one needs to become just a bit more INTROSPECTIVE. In times such as this, we, as Americans need to look within for many of today's answers, and not rely solely on others to pave the road before us, making our journeys easier.
Our founding fathers knew such was the case, and provided us with documents (a primer if you will) that entails what this nation shall be, and why it must retain it's unique place in the world.
We have allowed the meanings of these documents to become muddied along the way, and we have allowed the servants to rule the manor for far too long. They call such people civil SERVANTS for a reason. They are here to SERVE THE PEOPLE, and not dictate their ideologies to us, for us to blindly follow.
It's the PEOPLE that are suffering through this economic turmoil, brought entirely about by big business, and bigger government.
If every one of us begins to seek out in ourselves (and one another) a means to overcome this situation, we will indeed prevail victoriously.
But if we look to those in power to "rescue" us, and provide us with everything all the time, we will lose that which makes us truly free, for we shall become indebted to those "servants".
And the Good Book teaches that we should owe no man, in that regard.
Something to definitely think about... In the meantime...
Do have a SAFE weekend, wherever life finds you.

Postscript to Safety...and Other Stuff...
Yeah, one more day of this COLD weather (here in Indiana, anyway), and my shoulder is yelling at me: "Enough all ready".
Arthritis is a real bitch, no doubt about that.
Still (like this city) it "could" always be WORSE...just not by all that much.
And it would seem that there are TWO people that SHOULD have read yesterday's post here about safely handling one's FIREARM.
That's right...we had TWO MORE self-inflicted "accidental" shootings, neither of which (luckily) resulted in serious injury or death.
On 3 February, around 0900 hrs., a man living at 6932 Westlawn Drive was "racking his weapon", a 9mm semi auto pistol, when it fired, striking him in the hand.
Later that night, around midnight, police were called to Parkview Hospital where they found a man suffering a gunshot wound to the hand from his 9mm pistol.
The man told police he was showing a friend "how clean he had gotten his gun", when he shot himself in the hand.
The other shooting happened WAY back on 29 Jan 2009 (why it took THIS long to make the news, I have NO idea), when officers were called to 7011 Bradbury Ave., where they found a man who said he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his .22 caliber revolver.
The man was not bleeding, calm, and appeared to be in fair condition, according to police reports.
Okay, so you KNOW what I have to say about THIS, right?
Regarding the guy that shot his hand with the 9mm:
Next time, try showing a friend the pistol AFTER you EMPTY the damn thing, you moron!
And "if" a pistol discharges "while racking it", then you have an issue with the trigger, like MAYBE your FINGER WAS ON IT?
That's a damn good way to get a round out of the chamber, but certainly NOT the safest way by far.
((You can "repeat-fire" a pump shotgun, by holding the trigger and then racking the pump back and forth. I do believe that safety features have been incorporated to prevent civilian use of this "nuance", but I don't go around testing every single pump-action piece on the market.
I know my 870 "clone" won't let me continuously "dry-fire" it in this manner, so I can only conclude that live loads would perform similarly.))

As to the idiot that had his REVOLVER go off...sorry, buddy.
No excuse for YOU.
You just acted outright STUPID.
How frigging long does it take to drop the wheel, and extract the shells, anyway? About TWO frigging SECONDS...that's how long!
Long enough to KEEP from shooting oneself.
(pardon my "French", but...Jesus H. Tap-dancing Christ.)
When WILL people learn to show a little bit of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY again?
Maybe it's just God's way of saying "Pay the hell attention, jackass!"
That's sound advice not only for firearms, but also for life in general.
'Ya think?
On the good side to all this, as long as the THUGS keep offing each other, eventually most all of them will be gone in some fashion, be it taking that "long dirt nap", or incarceration (the longer, the better).
To me, it makes no nevermind.
Just kill each other...and quickly, because my patience with ALL of you jerkoffs is wearing REAL thin.
I tend to be a "quick-study" when it comes to matters like this.
I learn fast.
I'm also one of those people that still believes that LIFE is the ultimate "learning experience".
And in the 12 years I've lived HERE (Fort Wayne), I've learned more than I was initially willing to learn, just by being observant.
I've learned that when it comes to seeing others do dumb things, there IS no substitute for good old STUPIDITY.
I've learned that traditional values mean absolutely NOTHING when living in a newly blighted area of the city.
I've learned what REAL racism is like, from those that ALWAYS like to play the race card.
I've learned that no matter HOW MANY TIMES you tell people that they're doing something wrong, they will KEEP doing it, because they've been "oppressed" for so long.
I've learned that being a minority really DOES suck (because I AM one now in MY neighborhood).
I've learned that people will simply NOT leave you alone, no matter how much you demonstrate that to them.
I've learned that ignorance, apathy, disrespect, and slovenly behavior all help to perpetuate the "poverty" myth.
(you can be "financially-challenged" and NOT display any of those traits...I know from experience)
And there are tons of other things that I have learned living here...and I learn a little more every day, so at least there is SOME saving grace to all this crap.
Lastly, I hear that our police chief, Rusty York wants to sideline (and sell off?) the fleet of motorcycles (yeah, all FIVE Of them), citing budget cuts.
Sure, the bikes can only be properly used in better weather conditions (spring through fall), and sure, they ONLY get about 40 MPG, and sure, they can maneuver through traffic a LOT better than a cruiser...sell 'em all off anyway, right?
Well, it IS going to cost $10K to maintain them (less than HALF the price of a police cruiser), and yes, motorcycles do NOT have laptop computers in them OR on them (anyone hear of portable readers/scanners that can later upload info to a base site?), but is that reason alone to get RID OF THEM?
I think not, but then again, I'm "old school" when it comes to law-enforcement.
Actually, with the technology available, a cycle officer could use his bloody CELL PHONE to send along pictures of an accident scene, or even upload forms, so what's the damn beef here? And then there is the Blackberry, and a mess of other stuff out there that even I am not aware of (yeah, we've got THAT much).
There will ALWAYS be situations where a motorcycle is the ONLY recourse, and should be utilized.
I would mention that DOWNTOWN is the PERFECT place to use them. The Interstate around the city is another.
How's a bout a GRANT for the bikes, Rus...?
Anybody checking into THAT?
Idiots with guns...cops without motorcycles...what the hell is NEXT?
We could just take the police CARS from the officers. Think of ALL the money THAT would save.
People can "text" their problems into the FWPD, and a "negotiator" could reason it all out.
And by all means, let's take ALL those nasty BULLETS away from the officers.
Ammo costs MONEY, people.
Give them all WHISTLES, TASERS, MACE, and bring back the Billy Club.
"Halt, or I'll TOOT".
Yeah, that'll work.
Sure those scenarios are ridiculous, but not a helluva lot more removed than doing away with the police cycles.
I know that during the SUMMER months, I don't even get to see any FWPD officers on BICYCLES in my neighborhood, and with all the places perps have to duck in and out of, getting a cruiser in there would be quite impossible to say the least.
But I suppose we "could" get all those National Guard troops Obama plans to bring home, and deploy THEM on our street corners.
Wouldn't really NEED police motorcycles THEN, would we?
And with all the filth, trash, drugs, guns, gangs, and other assorted human flotsam we already "enjoy" down here, hell, it'd be JUST LIKE a damn trip to MEXICO. And who couldn't use a nice "vacation" anyway, right?

Besides, the way people follow anything blindly, we've ALREADY got us a ready-made batch of Acapulco CLIFF-DIVERS...LOL!
Today the FWPD chief considers ditching the motorcycles...tomorrow, perhaps reason itself?
VACATION TO MEXICO?
Anyone?
(probably a lot LESS crowded down there anyway..ask those living in Arizona...or Texas)
Do stay safe & warm out there today.

Safety Is A Risky Business...
If there is one job that will never go out of vogue, it's that of someone that is protecting us in some manner. And any job that is connected with public or personal safety must be included in that mix.
Doesn't matter if you're a LEO, a firefighter, an alarm system installer, an auto mechanic, airline pilot, or even a school crossing guard.
Protection is big business, and I mean that in the BEST possible way.
Many will benefit from the actions of ONE person, or even a few.
Every ONE of us is, to some degree, a "safety coordinator".
Think about it.
Mom takes the kids to the bus stop, making SURE they had breakfast, are dressed properly, have either a lunch packed or lunch money, and also have the required implements to make it through the school day, such as notebooks, pens, pencils, etc.
(OK, so I'm NOT talking about "my" neighborhood in particular...but you get the gist of this)
We might not all wear a badge, carry a picture ID (aside from the driver's license), or even have a position of authority, but we ALL possess something that the dictum of safety cannot do without, and that is (or at least should be) common sense.
At least, I'd like to think MOST people have a smattering of it somewhere.
(again, I'm not referring to "my" neighborhood, just so we're clear on this)
But there comes that time when someone will, for no apparent reason, toss safety, caution, and common sense to the wind.
It could be a brain fart, and it could wind up being fatal.
Life's funny like that.
And there ARE times and situations where you never, EVER screw around...
Combat is one of them. It can get you KILLED.
Driving is another...it can ALSO get you killed.
And my personal favorite...GUN SAFETY.
((CAUTION: EDUCATIONAL ALERT))
Now all of you know I love firearms.
Doesn't matter how small OR large it is. There is something satisfying in hearing that snappy report from a pistol or rifle muzzle, or the staccato sound from something a bit more "full-auto".
But GUNS (like some people) are EXTREMELY COMPLIANT, in that they DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD (like a well behaved child), and do it without thinking twice. They are like an old hound dog...they're STUPIDLY LOYAL.
When they are treated well, they WILL serve their master until hell freezes over.
When they are "abused", they WILL bite you.
--Take the case of a 51 year-old Fort Wayne man (Gary A. Vanderbilt) who shot himself while cleaning his shotgun.
Sadly, he died from his wounds later at hospital.
The story was merely a police brief in the paper, but it begs the question WHY?
WHY did this have to occur?
Gary called 911 Monday evening around 2140 hours, saying he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Police did not know how he shot himself.
The coroner ruled this an accidental shooting.
Well, accidents DO happen, right?
(That's why we have the largest concentration of "people" on the S/E part of the city...oh, sorry...did I say that?)
But accidents CAN BE AVOIDED as well...
I'm one of those people that whenever I acquire a weapon, I first have to find out ALL the safety features, as well as how to take the thing apart. If you know HOW it works and WHY, it makes life a lot easier to take when "something wicked your way comes", agreed?
Now I've also had gun safety drilled into me until I can recite this crap in my frigging sleep...
1) NEVER CLEAN A LOADED WEAPON.
2) TREAT EVERY WEAPON AS IF IT'S LOADED.
3) NEVER POINT A WEAPON AT ANYTHING YOU DON'T INTEND TO SHOOT.
Now how much EASIER can one make this?
Here's the link to the NRA guide:
http://www.nrahq.org/education/guide.asp
(Learn it, Live it, Love it)
Gary apparently nicked his Femoral artery, and that alone will cause a bleed-out within several minutes, without a tourniquet to stem the flow.
But depending on the load in the shotgun, and at POINT-BLANK RANGE, he more than likely tore the $hit out of his leg, if not nearly severed it.
Guns are stupidly loyal, but AMMO is dumber than a bag of rocks.
Bullets or shot will go in the direction they left the muzzle, unless acted upon by another force. That's plain old physics, people, and applies to geniuses as well as dummies. And once that bugger leaves the muzzle, it ain't comin' back, no matter what you do. It's a one-way trip...outgoing!
There is absolutely NO reason to assume that a weapon is NOT loaded. No reason at all.
And it's WAY too simple to make absolutely certain that the weapon you are cleaning has NO rounds in it.
If it's a wheel gun (revolver), simply flip open the cylinder, hit the extractor, and eject ALL the shells. The weapon is now EMPTY.
Then you can clean it without getting shot.
It's a little more involved with an autoloader pistol.
First, you drop the magazine.
Next, you rack the slide to extract the live round in the barrel.
The slide can then be locked back and you can look around to confirm the weapon is cleared and ready for cleaning or dis assembly.
Shotguns are just as easy.
If it's a single shot, you break it open and extract the load.
Ditto for double-barreled.
When it comes to semi-auto or pumps, you have to extract the load from the barrel, and that means you rack it, but you also have to make sure the trigger safety is ON, and your fingers are AWAY from the trigger (just in case).
You can also take the choke tube cover off , remove the spring and the loads, but you still have to rack the action to remove the "one in the chamber". Then the weapon is cleared.
Failure to do any ONE of these steps can result in injury, or in the case of Mr. Vanderbilt, a fatality.
I would add that if a weapon has been "modified" in any (aftermarket or illegal) way, that could very well compromise the safety features OF the weapon, placing you or others at extreme risk.
If the weapon has internal damage that disallows the safety features to malfunction, that can also lead to disaster.
You can NEVER be "too safe" when it comes to firearms.
It may seem a bit OCD, but at least you won't be KIA.
Hell, the only reason you DON'T usually hear about gangstas shooting themselves more often, if that they must NEVER clean their weapons. That would require having to READ the manual, and THAT requires knowing HOW TO READ in the first place.
Accidents like Gary's only seem to happen to people that are NOT felonious in nature.
And statistically, that's sad.
I'd much rather see the perps shooting themselves (save the cites and states a TON of money in this economy) instead of innocent people.
In the final analysis, it comes down to whether YOU want to carry the burden and responsibility of being a "safety coordinator" in YOUR home, and in YOUR life.
You can practice safety in as many aspects of your life as is possible, whether it's firearms, driving, or crossing a street.
Or you can leave it up to "the other guy (or gal)", but don't whine when it all goes bad.
Only you can make that choice...
And the decision YOU make WILL affect others, make no mistake about that.
Stay warm and safe out there!

03 February 2009

After The Party's Over...
Another Super (?) Bowl done for another year...and with it all the hype, the ads, the money made by people OTHER than yourselves.
So what's next, you ask?
Well, March Madness looms on the sports horizon.
And we have the Daytona 500, the official "kickoff" to the NASCAR season beginning soon enough.
I mean, SOMEONE has to get our minds off the economy...and terrorism, and global warming (Punxsy Phill took care of that nicely yesterday, I might add), and the other 539 things that seemingly affect each and every one of us, right?
We, as Americans HAVE to be entertained.
We live for it, in fact.
Funny...wasn't always that way.
(Uh oh...I'm waxing a bit philosophical today...)
I never read where the Constitution GUARANTEED or imbued every one of us with a God-given RIGHT to be entertained, or even to be happy.
I DO recall something that stated we were granted certain inalienable rights, such as LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
So we were free to pretty much "go for it" as it were...didn't say anything about us GETTING any, did it?
There was a saying that went something like this:"The conquest is not as fulfilling as the chase".
And that can be said for MANY things in life.
Striving for something is what motivates us, urges us into action. It challenges us, forces us to "dig a little deeper" inside ourselves to find whatever it is we need at that time to accomplish whatever we set out to do in the first place.
And many times, we might fail in the process.
To a lot of us, failure is a good thing.
We LEARN from the experience...we become better individuals from that failure.
But when we decide to allow a failure to dominate our existence, we walk the path to the "dark side of the Force", as it were.
We basically become losers.
So we press on, putting the failure behind us, making sure we don't repeat it.
I've always said that I don't make the same mistake twice...but there are a LOT of mistakes I haven't even come across yet (and some I never hope to). It's just the nature of the beast...being human, that is. And unfortunately, we're all stuck with that moniker; Being HUMAN.
In some extraordinary instances, failure is simply NOT an option (case in point: Apollo 13). You fail - you die.
Yeah, it's that simple.
Talk about something that WILL "motivate" you!
All too often, we set a goal, achieve it, and then rest on our laurels.
That's not the best way to go, unless what you achieved netted you untold wealth, power, and everything else this world has to offer.
For some, even that is not the end of the line.
They look for the next challenge and how their power & wealth can benefit OTHERS, for no other reason than they CAN do it.
We call that being a philanthropist, or an entrepreneur.
These people pass along their knowledge and skills to others, that those who glean from the (more) fortunate, might "score one for the home team".
But those people are the (very) fortunate few.
The rest of us have to carry on, man up to whatever task is at hand, put our shoulder to the wheel, and press on.
Now I said ALL THAT to say THIS:
Every one of us is facing some VERY tough economic times...make no mistake. For those of us fortunate enough to hear stories from the Great Depression, we get an idea of what "could" happen.
And we'd be fools to not heed what we hear.
We can do what "we" need to do, as American citizens to ensure our individual financial stability, but there are other players in the mix now, as opposed to the 1930s. We have government trying to infuse itself into MORE of our lives, making us totally dependent on THEM, when we should realize that WE are our FIRST, BEST defense for any "wolf at the door".
Instead, we have every Tom, Dick, and Harriet with his or her hand out for...something for nothing.
Did massive giveaways see our nation into and through the Industrial Revolution?
Did massive giveaways see us through this nation's BIRTH?
Did massive giveaways help us through our Civil War?
Did massive giveaways guide us through TWO World Wars?
I don't recall anything like that happening...do you?
We had something money couldn't buy...called American SPIRIT.
It was what helped found this nation, established our Constitution, paved the way for exploration and expansion, and made this nation great.
The weird thing is...I still believe in that.
It was all those plain old Americans (from whatever nation they left behind) that decided that THIS was the land of OPPORTUNITY.
Nothing was guaranteed to them as they sailed here from everywhere else.
Nothing was "given" to them to get them established.
Nothing was assured them if they were not willing to chase after it...to PURSUE it.
It was through perseverance, hard work, persistence, and a firm belief in THIS nation that allowed these people to long for (and in many cases, actually achieve) the American Dream. They sacrificed, they died, and they still were not deterred. They learned from whatever failure smacked them in the kisser...and were still not deterred.
Yeah, this all sounds well and good, but it's different now.
Really? In what way?
Well, perhaps we've forgotten all about that AMERICAN SPIRIT...
We were too busy watching "the game", or texting (or even "sexting") someone, or getting high, drunk and/or stupid to see it, or even attempt to get off our asses, do what our forefathers did, get this nation back on track, and "make it happen".
We, as a nation made it through one big economic struggle (and several smaller ones), and we will make it through this one, although I admit that unless we return to being driven more by ETHICS and less by ENTERTAINMENT, this NATION will change in ways we cannot possibly imagine.
Failure (for this country) should not be the ONLY option available. America has to re-learn how to avert failure, or at the least LEARN from that failure in order to succeed. History is lousy with examples, if we want to review for the financial "pop-quiz" we're ALL getting ready to take.
We might wind up no longer being the America we once knew...
And I, for one, would really hate for that to be OUR legacy for future generations.
I apologize about any "soapbox" rhetoric.
I just think this nation's leadership needs to take a GOOD look at the U.S. Constitution.
Read the words of the Bill of Rights, and the Preamble...slowly, and with purpose.
And then THINK long and hard about what those words truly MEAN...to this nation's PEOPLE.
Stay safe and warm out there.

You Know What Today Is, Right?
This JUST in...
--Dateline: Punxsutawney, PA -
Punxsutawney Phil, the legendary sage of weather prediction did, IN FACT see his shadow today, so that means SIX MORE WEEKS of Winter.
Like we couldn't see THAT one coming from several miles off.
(actually, with all the media lights around, he saw TWENTY-SEVEN shadows, suffered an ocular migraine, dove back into his den, cracked open a bottle of Wild Turkey, and settled in for the next ICE AGE...sorry, Mr. Gore)
Tell 'ya one thing: If someone I didn't recognize, dressed in a long coat and top hat, reached into MY nice, warm bed, grabbed ME by the scruff of MY neck, drug ME out into the early morning with near freezing temps, THAT guy would be RE-counting his once delicate digits (after I shot his ass)!
No "excuse me"?
No coffee?
No donuts?
No breakfast?
What's a groundhog to do?
Time to "gear up"...
Yeah, that'll learn these people...don't mess with a furry guy from Pennsylvania, ESPECIALLY when it's THIS damn early in the morning!
And speaking of Pennsy...
--For the SIXTH time, the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl.
And NO, I didn't bother watching...was too busy laughing my butt off and going "awwwwww" at the four-footed furballs on Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl (with the Kitty Halftime Show).
--We now return you to your regularly-scheduled homicide:
I believe that makes number FOUR this year (and counting).
And it occurred on the (once again, everyone...) on the SOUTH side.
For the story so far, click the links:
From the Journal-Gazette:

Now my wife is a very astute person, and observed the fact that Ms. Underwood showed up on scene SO quickly. If there is one thing the black community does NOT lack, it's a GRAPEVINE!
And we're talking one that runs deeper than the Marianas Trench, and as large as the Beanstalk of the mythical "Jack".
Our police here, typically have to fend off these people, who would otherwise hinder an investigation, contaminate a crime scene, or just plain BE IN THE DAMN WAY. The personnel on scene know their job - that's why you pay taxes to TRAIN them in the first place, so back the hell off, and let them DO THEIR JOBS.
Oh, wait...many of these folks pay NO taxes, so they must feel they have a God-given right to wade right into a crime scene to see if the vic was "ma baby"...yeah, that makes perfect sense.
Plus, many of them rarely show ANY regard or respect TO the "PO-lees" (police), and will clam up at the first sign of being asked a question BY an officer (to protect the guilty).
Don't worry...it's just a "cultural thang".
One other thing that I find amusing...the vehicle stopped by the house on Weisser park Avenue (which should be called a street) to pick up a woman and TAKE HER TO WORK.
I find it incredulous that ANY of them would WORK at all, let alone on a SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!
That just doesn't sound right...and I know from watching MY neighborhood, that staying home all day, every day (for them) is the NORM, and not the exception. Be nice to have working people living down here again, instead of all the "GIMMES" we DO have. Yeah, I call 'em "GIMMES" because they ALWAYS have their hands out to someone for something, usually the government (who reaches deeper into YOUR taxpaying pockets). And before ANYONE says it,or even thinks about saying it, GIMMES come in EVERY "flavor", so don't even GO there.
Granted, there are a few "old-schoolers" (and even a few young'uns) that STILL DO buck their system, and HOLD A REAL JOB...congrats to them. They should be the ones that all the others are trying to emulate, instead of having these numb nuts going around shooting one another.
Trouble is, no matter HOW MANY are shot (or killed), more keep crawling out from under some rock.
You'd think we'd hit a tipping point, and the number of idiots would begin to decline. Apparently not, but never fear...
Stupid IS...as Stupid DOES.
And while we're on the subject...

Seems we had a similar event in Indy last year?
These thugs are getting more and more violent by the day.
--According to a story posted at Officer.com, the number of GANG MEMBERS has now hit that "magic" mark - ONE MILLION MEMBERS.
That's about 999,999 TOO MANY for MY liking.
And they are not ALL in those ghettos, or blighted urban areas across America.
They are in the suburbs and housing developments as well. They could be living across YOUR street, or down YOUR block.
Think about THAT as your kids walk to the bus stop (and hopefully do NOT get mugged like they have been in Indianapolis).
