Friday Follies...
We're getting ever so much closer to the celebration of our nation's Independence, and with it, the increasing number of fireworks going off (many in violation ALREADY of the time slots allowed for such nonsense). We had a few last evening that I swear to God sounded like someone firing off a 75mm pack HOWITZER (within a block of our house)!
I DID mutter something to the effect that "I hope you blew off your hand, you moron"....LOL.
(Hey, I mean that in a GOOD way)
As I've said here in the past, whenever there is a day when fireworks ARE shot off, it pretty much sounds like that CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT I attended in Gettysburg back in the early 1990s...Pickett's Charge (with full period artillery going off)...yeah, kinda like THAT in our ghettohood.
I mean, when you feel the HOUSE shake after the report from that "rocket", it's pretty damn close, and probably illegal to fire off in such surroundings.
But let's not permit that to dampen our demeanor, when there is SO much more nonsense to be found in the media, fair enough?
*** Oh, I almost forgot...the other day I found THIS on the grass.
Yep, it's a bird's nest (most likely a robin's)...INTACT.
How it fell from a tree in that manner simply astounds me.
Maybe it's an avian form of a "mobile home"?
Hey, I don't care if it WAS a "rental"...at least I know WHAT TO EXPECT from my FEATHERED FRIENDS...(and they treat us with a lot more respect).
It's things like THIS that show you how wondrous this old world really is, right?
But wait...there's MORE.
Let's take a peek at what we're missing...
And trust me, every one of these stories is WORTH the read...or I wouldn't be placing them here.
*** Seems we have some burglars with balls taking advantage (and stuff) from people living up north in the Dupont and Lima Roads area:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20100702/LOCAL07/307029969
And they're doing it while the homeowners are AT HOME...and ASLEEP....(not good for everyone concerned).
personally, I'd LOVE to see these perps get caught in the act by a homeowner with a gun, a good set of eyes, an itchy trigger finger...and a grudge against crime. Now, THAT'S entertainment, people!
*** If it wasn't bad enough to see BRAILLE all over parking garages, we have a group that has a car that BLIND PEOPLE can actually "drive".
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20100702/APW/1007020571
But, given the sheer number of impaired people on the road today, thanks to drugs and alcohol, maybe having some visually-impaired people driving around MIGHT even the odds in OUR favor...'ya never know.
*** This story goes to show that our broken judicial system is becoming MORE like a game show...call it "Wheeling and Dealing".
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20100702/LOCAL03/307029966
Just because your "friend" (and you should have chosen your friends a lot more carefully) got a lighter sentence, doesn't mean YOU should, given the heinous nature of your crimes...does it? These superior courts need their heads examined...they have GOT to be brain-damaged.
*** It's a bird, it's a plane, but it sure as hell ain't Superman...
It's another shot at a FLYING CAR.
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20100702/NEWS03/307029964
Ok, so the technology goes WAY BACK to the 1950s (the AERO-CAR), and was never a "hit", but maybe this time's the "charm"?
I mean, if you've got $194,000 bucks lying around, burning holes in your pockets (and in today's economy, who the hell DOESN'T?), why not blow the wad, go in hock past your eye teeth, and get yourself one of these, eh?
(first, top picture in the group - ready for mass production)
After all, it probably won't be long before BLIND PEOPLE are flying these anyway, so why be left in the dust.
And with the future "aerially-impaired" drivers/pilots on our roadways/skyways (thanks to alcohol and drugs), you'll be SO far ahead of the curve on this one.
Just don't use MY street for a runway...the ghetto-fleas will have that covered.
I wonder if you can strap a 5000 watt stereo and 24 inch RIMS on that bugger...and are spinners really "aerodynamic"?
Well, at least the (future) "boomcar-planes" will be a lot HIGHER than normal (as will the driver/pilots), so maybe they'll no longer be a problem to the POLICE, but rather the FAA...we can but hope.
*** Well, this certainly explains a LOT in "my" ghettohood!

I would NEVER have imagined that the hormone CORTISOL is the culprit that causes men to BEHAVE LIKE APES.
Funny, I've never personally suffered from such things, but I DO see many in my area that must be addicted to the production of cortisol in their primate skulls.
(who knew?)
I've always wondered why such people were always so damn belligerent...and now I know why.
(well, many of them do already LOOK the part...they might as well BEHAVE in similar fashion)
Nice to learn something new each day, isn't it?
Imagine...all THIS stuff going on...on top of the OTHER stuff that's been going on...sheesh!
Like George Carlin used to say..."I need a place for all my stuff"...
Be here this weekend for a tribute to our FLAG, our Independence, and what it REALLY means. (or should mean)
In the meantime...
Have yourselves a glorious weekend, be well, make a difference to someone, and, as always...
Stay safe out there, AMERICA!

Dear Bob,
I always KNEW there were blind people driving out there. Thank you for the confirmation! Now that it is documented, I am sure we will have a government study.

I will have to read more about the cortisol. This sounds very interesting.

And last but not least, another beautiful eagle in tribute of our wonderful nation. I hope you and the Mrs. have an excellent Fourth of July weekend! I hope you are grilling something truly excellent. I'd bring the potato salad and a bottle of zin if I was in FW!

Goverment study, hmm?
Think we can snag us a GRANT for say...ONE MILLION DOLLARS (ala Dr. Evil)?
I mean they DO have all that TARP money laying about, right?

Besides, what's a "mere" MILLION with the way THIS Prez is spending (like a drunken sailor)?

Yeah, the CORTISOL article is a MUST read...you'll get a better idea as to WHY certain parts of cities are SO bad (like in D.C.).
I may do a follow-up in the future.

I DO love both potato salad AND "Zin" (reading my mind again, eh?)...believe you me!

I will put a frank and burger (sounds like a cult movie) on the grill for 'ya!
Maybe even some SALMON.

And look for the meaning of Independence Day...coming to a blogpost near you THIS weekend!

Enjoy the weekend, and go see a concert in D.C.!
(they have the BEST in the nation, esp. if the Marine Corps Band is playing)

i've never had my cortisol level tested but i have had my suspection about it affecting my own weight gain. i notice i packed on the pounds after my mom died one year (97) and my dad another (99) then i lost them. then about a year ago i was dumped in a relationship pretty badly. i packed on some more pounds. right now i am in the process of losing them. its more then eat less move more thing its a whole leval of "healing" that i am trying to achieve. and i started reading alot on the net about weight gain and i started to seriously suspect cortisol. it affects diabetes. diabetes is a hugh problem in the black community. here's an interesting link that i think tells more about it medically. i even book marked it for me to go back to.

sorry i am commenting so many times. i am having problems concentrating today. no i dont take any drugs for it and i never plan to start taking drugs. lol if i took a drug for everything that is wrong with me i would have a true drug cotail going on. (depression, attention, pains, perhaps muscel relaxor, anxiety) never the less. i am FULLY AGAINST THE BLIND DRIVING. i have not became accident and ticket free for over 10 years on my own. i have worked hard at this. there is a rythem to driving. it changes as the minutes change. you have to be fully aware around you. i have seen someone enter the street with me and i have just been a little worried about their driving becouse you could not only see that they were an agressive tailgator, but you could FEEL it. sometimes i will someone tires just turn ever so slightly and i will "know" that they are unsure of their surroundings, or getting ready to cut me off. so i back off and i wait for their mind to make up. driving is a dance between several people. and it only takes one idoit to ruin the groove.

i personally think birds nests, spider webs, beaver dams should be studyed more for ideas on how to build better buildings. those animals really know their crafts.

OK...no more FROOT LOOPS for YOU at morning mess...LOL.

Seriously, diabetes is a REALLY big problem in the black community...Just today, the EMTs were called to a restaurant where a woman was incoherent with a BSL (blood sugar level ) of OVER 320!
She DID admit to having drunk a substantial quantity of VODKA an hour earlier...!?!
(WTF?)
Yeah, some people are still on the alcohol as a food subsitute gig.
Not good.

Yu can lose as much weight as you WANT to...it's all about STAYING MOTIVATED...(remember the drill instructors...LOL)

It's YOUR life and if you wanna LIVE it, then you know what to do.

I don't take any prescrip meds, either...don't want my behavior modified chemically - I can do it BY MYSELF with NO help at all, trust me.
Besides, if I took drugs for EVERY problenm I have, I'd put WALGREENS outta business in a week...ROFL!

I like your dancing/ "groove thing" about driving...that's keeping it REAL!
You druive long enough, you DO get a feel for thigns, which frees up the mind to better be aware of that "unexpected" crap around the NEXT corner.

Maybe we SHOULD look into how animals and birds build stuff...After all, it only one person to watch a BIRD and figure out that man CAN fly (with some mechanical help).

Just TRY convincing those AF zoomies otherwise, eh?

Hey, thanks so much for taking time to swing on by and comment.
We might not live in the same place, but I'm here to listen whenever the need arises.

That's how great ideas are born..through discussion and thought.

Have a safe and happy 4th!

Carry On!
