Humpday Happenings...
First humpday of the "new" year...or as I like to call it:
Cinco De Enero.
I have to begin today's post with a reference to yesterday's Glenn beck Show (radio or TV - either one works)
He is starting off this year with a challenge to ourselves. (sounds a lot like my posts from times past)
He calls it the E4.

And those four "Es" stand for:
- Enlightenment
- Education
- Empowerment
- Entrepreneurship
It's an intriguing premise, I must say.
WE, THE PEOPLE, are the key to the reclamation of this nation BACK to it's original intent and spirit.
Gotta say we're both on the same page there....I've said that for quite a while now.
I know I'm getting pretty damn sick and tired of being "told" (by those in the ivory towers), as to how my life should be conducted.
I'm a "big boy" (grown up, that is...I'm still only 5'7" tall...LOL), and I CAN think for myself these days.
And that can be said of most of us, I believe.
If we had a decent upbringing, and paid the hell attention to what we were taught as "young'uns" from our parents, teachers and even relatives, we carried all that forward into adulthood...or at least we should have.
And we've arrived at some point where we began thinking FOR OURSELVES.
We take command of our OWN ship of life, and chart our OWN course, as it were...
We've navigated uncertain waters, came too close to the shoals on more than one occasion, and perhaps even beached ourselves in order to rest a spell and get our bearings before we set out to sea again.
We've been storm-tossed, becalmed, and even towed a few times, in order to reach a "friendly port".
Now, I use these nautical terms, because they paint a picture we can all relate to. Even the most land-locked among us (probably living in Kansas...lol) can visualize in our mind's eye what these things mean...and how they relate to our lives. Hopefully, we've become good captains of our very own ships of life along the way.
And yes, we've probably made some errors in judgment in our voyage, but like any good seafarer, we come away from the experience more "seasoned" and better able to deal with a similar problem should it ever occur again.
So, on the whole, as a people, in general...we don't do all that bad.
In many respects, I fully agree with Beck's challenge to ourselves.
Hell, I challenge myself almost EVERY day.
Sometimes, just waking up is a challenge (all the body parts don't like to get up at the same time).
But there is always a "plan", if you will.
The day you wake up without ANY plan in mind whatsoever, or decision to make in the day you'd best check the old PULSE.
Every single day we are alive is filled with one decision after another...think about it.
There is not a solitary thing you do in ANY day that is not performed after you make some sort of decision.
Even NOT deciding to do something is a decision. For most all of us, getting that decision-making "coffeepot" brewing is second-nature.
We go from task to task, item to item, and decide on the WHATS, HOWS, WHENS, WHERES and WHYS...
And we barely blink in the process.
That's pretty amazing stuff.
Our minds are racing along in hyperdrive, doing whatever it is we're supposed to be doing (even if it's taking a nap) and we try to accomplish as much as we can in the time we have.
Sometimes, we get it done, while other times we don't.
Not a big deal (unless you're putting out a fire or doing the Heimlich maneuver on someone).
And at day's end, we look back and usually ponder one of two things:
1) Where did all the frigging time go?
2) Damn, I got a lot done!
We want to always do MORE than we can, in whatever capacity.
That's a marvelous part of the HUMAN CONDITION.
And, you could even say it's pretty darn charitable, too.
We LIKE to help...sorry, that's just the way we were "made".
Now, we all know that CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, right?
Pretty simple to figure out.
If we can't exhibit charity in our OWN home to our OWN families, how the hell can we take this gig "on the road"?
Are we being charitable to OURSELVES?
What do we give to ourselves each and every day?
Are we giving ourselves the ability to better ourselves? Are we being charitable with ourselves when it comes to knowledge...or wisdom? See, we have to begin WITHIN, in order to proceed OUTWARD to others.
Do we take the time we need to get THAT done?
Is THAT part of OUR (daily) plan?
Well, it should be, if we are to renew ourselves with much of that American spirit our ancestors had within them.
And, by God, I think we can all do it, and benefit greatly from such a thing.
As you go through your day today, make sure you have a plan and make those good decisions.
Doesn't take but a thought to get that ball rolling. Think of it as a subliminal "hint" to yourself.
Do something that promotes charity within yourself, and then find a way to extend that to another.
And the smaller you start out, the better.
That way, you will see the growth that comes from planting the seeds of such things.
This nation has always been one that set the pace for others, and it's high time we took back that mantle.
We CAN do it..we SHOULD do it...and we MUST do it.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

I watched yesterday's TV show, but was in & out as I was fixing dinner. Enlightenment is a great thing, and I think most Americans are just quite willing to go blithely through their day, without cracking a book, learning something new, as long as they can watch American Idol, or the trash from New Jersey, or the bimbo Kardashians.

Education should occur every day of your life. No one can say "I don't need to learn anything more". Educate yourself about what is going on in the world, and *why*, *how*, and the history of it.

Empowerment - Hmm i was in the kitchen fixing porcupine meatballs during the last two.. but empowerment to me, means "don't be a sheeple". Think for yourself, not just because someone told you X was the conclusion gathered by the elite. Do your own homework on things.

wow it's nice to have my internet kind of working again!

Hey there...VERY glad to see you again!

I pick and choose CAREFULLY when viewing the TV these days.
I like dramas, and sci-fi...as ENTERTAINMENT (I always knew the difference...lol)

For REALITY, you have to temper what you watch with what YOU find out for yourself (as you mentioned).
And I'm speaking from a NEWS standpoint.
Much of "Reality TV" just lets us see others that are more screwed up than we could ever be, right?

Lord knows there is SO much more out there now to discern, and that's where "we" come in.

I try in my small way to relate things like this in my blog.

We have the potential to all become so much BETTER than many of us settle for.
Luckily, I think a lot more of us are getting back on the right track.
(porcupine meatballs?)
Okay, then...

I think a lot of us here think in similar fashions...not exactly the same, but close.
We know what's right and good, and just...and we WANT to pursue such things.

That's kinda cool, come to think of it.

So nice to see 'ya again.
Stop by often...we'll keep the light on...lol.

Thanks or taking time to drop by and comment.

Stay safe down there.

Dear Bob,
First, I'm checking on you and the Mrs. over family news.

Second, you have been adding new pictures for a little while now! Now today it looks like a new Eagle. Bellisima!

And Third. This is another very inspirational post. I keep reminding myself to that "not to decide' is a decision to run.

Thanks for the pep talk!

I just can't get anything past you, can I?
(LOL)

We're doing OK w/ the family matters.

And yes, there are NEW eagles to supplement the old ones this year.

To this post, I think many times, I do this to make sure *I* don't have to up and kick MYSELF in the butt (that hurts)...think of it as my self-affirmation.
Something about SEEING the words instead of just hearing them strikes a chord.
And if it manages to "hit home" with others...hey, all the better.

We can't ever hope to be all things to all people...but, we can sure be something to ourselves and those we care about.

Yeah, I like doing that.

Thanks a lot for your concern and for taking time to stop by the fence today.

Stay safe out there.

that is true that charity starts at home. about 15 years ago i noticed that i was in nicer spirits at work then i was at home with my toddler. i was horrified and changed my attitude. when i did that i think that is when i found my best friend. my daughter. so perhaps at work i might have rolled my eyes, muttered somethings, said a screw you type of language. but, i never bring it home. perhaps i refuse to talk about work. but, who really wants rain on their parade. lol. as time has went by things at home raising a teenager were stressful. but i never talked about her issues on my job. (this is why people think i have a "perfect" life). and work got less stressful becouse i started caring alot less about it. yes, i still worry about doing the correct things with our product to get to the customer. and i do it out of habit. but, i dont stress about it at all. for me to get threw with how many more years i have to give to my work i have learned to listen to my true supervisor God. and i have told a supervisor that a few times.

That's something many of us have to learn that you already DID learn...NOT to bring the job home.
I have to plead guilty to that in years past.
Then again, I had a job that gave me a short-leash on the homefront...24 hour pager.
God, how I detested that!

What we GIVE AT HOME to those we care about (or even to ourselves) DOES wind up getting out that front door...can't help that.

And taking something that important around with us sure beats the snot outta dragging along all the emotional baggage we "like" to carry about.
(I've been guilty of THAT in the past, too)

I keep thinking of the ghost of Jacob Marley (Dickens Christmas Carol) and all them CHAINS he had wrapped around him.

Don't want that for me...or any of you people out there, either.

God is your supervisor...I like that.
That's cool.

Hey, thanks for stopping on by today.
Take care down there.

It's nice to be back, Bob. And to Indy,as an aside, I watched old movies of the children and I'm like "I was like that?" if I could do lots of things over, I would love the chance. Keep hanging in there on that corner Bob, and reporting what is going on. Some weird stuff is going down in our main town in the county here, its' even managed to get on CNN :O. Not this much news since a high schooler at my daughter's school brought a pistol to school and committed suicide in the restroom. Many are not going to school in town till the culprit is caught. I know we have a scaled down version of what you have there, but I can really do without it. I'm considering investing in silver, gold and lead.

Oh yes - porcupine meatballs - ground beef, spices, worcesterhire sauce, and 1/2 cup of rice mixed together, lots of tomato sauce mixed with water, and then baked.

If I didn't know better...that's sounds like the filling my Mom used to put in STUFFED PEPPERS.
(no wonder Dad liked them so much)

Thanks for the recipe.
You Texans are so innovative...!

PS: Love the gold, silver and LEAD (purchasing)...I agree 100%!

Thanks for dropping on by today.

Stay safe down there.
