A Whole Lot Of Odd Out There...
You want to talk weird?
Try seeing light SNOW after about a week of temperatures in the 50s.
That's what we have this morning in the Summit City.
And how much do you want to bet that a lot of drivers will STILL think it's okay out there to zip about like it's summer?
(We all know how that will pan out...and I always bet on sure things)
I mean you have flash mobs that rob convenience stores, mothers trying to exorcise demons from their child and killing him in the process (definitely rids one of demon-possession), homemade meth labs springing up damn near all over (when they're not being driven around on our streets)...and that's just for starters.
Like I said...we got some really weird sh*t going on.
We have a man that is feeling his way through a Presidency the way a blind man finds his way in a strange house (lots of stumbling about).
We've got an Attorney General that "decides" on which laws to follow, and which ones to ignore.
We have a bloated government that would still like to hand over the keys to the candy store in order to redistribute the wealth in this nation, when all that's needed is the proper motivation for the lazy-ass citizens that cry the poverty blues as to WHY they're not rich "like everyone else"...
(pssst - it's called WORKING for it, dumbasses)
We have barbarians at our gates, socialists in our very midst, and progressives wanting everyone to be "equal" when it comes to "things", rather than people.
Like I say...it's ODD out there.
We have cities like Detroit in such decline, because people have left the area, but not for the main reason that's being touted.
Granted, the auto industry has something to do with this exodus, but let's look a bit deeper.
People wanted to get away from the crime...and the criminals, so they moved AWAY from Detroit. (can't say I blame them...I KNOW the feeling)
Thing is, now, even the criminals are moving out to the suburbs (drug money buys nice houses, too).
Add to that all those "housing vouchers" being given away like beads tossed to the throngs at Mardi Gras, and there's no reason WHY nice suburban neighborhoods will soon become the new slums and crime-ridden areas, surrounding cities that are already on "life-support".
Personally, I don't like vouchers all that much...and with good reason.
The money FOR those vouchers has to come from SOMEWHERE...namely the taxpayers.
Now, most of the taxpayers don't NEED vouchers, as they believe in paying THEIR OWN WAY.
(the way it should be)
It's those that want that which YOU have worked for...and for a lot less than YOU payed to get it, whatever "it" might be.
We have food vouchers, housing vouchers, school vouchers...where the hell does this end?
And how the hell is all of this expected to be paid for...in THIS economy?
Rare are the times when the poor man can advance into wealth and thereby create jobs and industry these days.
In the vast majority of cases, it's the rich who foster job creation and economic growth.
So, if you take from the rich often enough AND in greater quantities, sooner or later, these folks will STOP being...well, "rich".
Then, they become like everyone else..."equal" (in the lack of wealth).
Now how on God's green earth do you fuel an economy under such conditions?
You can't...it's that simple.
Yesterday, Glenn Beck made an analogy between the housing crash and the (unfolding) union debacle.
And, as usual, I have to say that I was amazed at the sense it made, as well as to how it was being done.
When some group "demands" that everyone have housing and that loans/mortgages be given out in a cavalier manner to those that have little if any real means to pay for it, that should send up every red flag around.
If you can't pay for something...you can't have it...it's THAT simple.
Hell, I'd LOVE an Aston Martin (V-8 - even a PRE-OWNED one), but I KNOW I could NEVER afford it (or the insurance...or the fuel costs), so I don't just go out and get one anyway.
That would be financial (and marital) suicide...lol.
That also doesn't mean I pitch a fit at some government agency demanding I have one, because some other people have that car, and I want things to be fair and equal. And I don't demand a voucher program (funded by a lot of working people) in order to get one...
I believe it's called RESTRAINT...as in holding oneself back from doing something REALLY dumb (and usually expensive).
I think we also call it PRIORITIES, as in certain things get done in a certain order, so as to minimize problems, stress and even the need to claim bankruptcy.
Yeah, now THAT makes sense to me.
Apparently, it doesn't to a lot of others.
You live WITHIN your means...and not WAY ABOVE them, got it?
"You can't have champagne on a beer pocketbook", as my late Father used to say.
(and he's still right)
You know all these programs (designed to "level the playing field") don't work.
(kinda like many of the recipients of such programs who also don't work...and are loving it)
This is about the CLEAREST example of not being able to "get something for nothing" that I have ever seen.
It's totally unsustainable...by ANY government - federal, state, or local.
Sooner or later it comes time to "pay the piper" and foot the bill for that "hall" you rented.
And when you check your pockets and have more LINT in them than MONEY, you DO NOT go and just print more up cash.
That's BEYOND stupid...for everyone.
And the leaders in D.C. should have SEEN this coming a long time ago.
Odd that this never happened, isn't it?
Well, maybe now it IS happening...people waking the hell up and asking some pretty straight-forward QUESTIONS of our "hired help" (that would be every single politician) as to why the barn needs fixing, and all the horses are getting through that broken fence.
Trouble is, the whole UNION flap is being distracting of what the PEOPLE need to know...and do.
If you can find some way to point a finger at someone else, dress it up, and make it appear as if those who are being pointed at are "the bad guys" (when they're really not), stir up the masses into a frenzy with promises of "what's theirs" and how it's being taken by those "nasty people" elsewhere, you set the stage for some serious problems in our nation.
And we still DO have a LOT of "lemmings" in America, make no mistake.
Having someone else think FOR you is just part of the entitlement process, when all that is needed to break the cycle is some SELF-REALIZATION and SELF-MOTIVATION to see the truth about such things.
Now, unless you prefer to be a puppet on a string, there's not much else to do, other than perform for those in attendance.
If, on the other hand, you want to "cut the strings" and think on your own, by all means...go right ahead.
It damn near breaks my heart to see good, honest people, busting their asses every day, and getting less than those that do little if anything.
If there is ANY "unfairness", it's fostered by those who take from the working to give to the lazy (so they can have what the working class have)
That is NOT equality.
If anything, it's the creation of a slave mentality (or at least an indentured mindset) to those beholding to the government for their entitlement-driven "lifestyle".
I find that ODD, because I thought we did away with slavery quite some time ago...didn't you?
My hope, is that more people concern themselves LESS about "stuff", and MORE about one another.
I know it's a reach, but people tend to have a bit more to them than do things and possessions.
Things have a nasty habit of breaking, whereas people prefer to "bend".
It's okay to want to be like an oak tree, but to be able to become a willow when the need arises is always preferred.
Besides, in a really BAD storm, which tree is usually uprooted by those cyclonic winds?
In THIS country, the winds of change are blowing, and we have to deal with all this "odd" around us every day.
We all have decisions we need to make as well.
But, I believe we can weather whatever comes our way.
We need to question things that need it, stand for things that mean something, and pursue personal improvement until the day they lay us to rest.
Nothing ODD about any of that, is there?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

Oh, Bob G., on a day when I am feeling the big government pinch and them coming down on me...taxes...you give us butt crack. I think I just choked on my coffee. Yes, I managed to read your post as well, but the butt crack had me distracted...thanks for that.
