It Takes All Kinds...

My late Father used to tell me that..."Takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, son.", and of course he was talking about PEOPLE.
Good, bad, short, tall, thin, heavy, smart, dumb, white, black, male, female, old, young, fast, slow, adept, clumsy...ALL kinds.
And if we're all fortunate enough in our lives, we get to see some, if not most of these people almost every day whether at the job, around our neighborhoods, or just out in public, if not on TV or in the newspapers.
Now, after nearly six decades on this planet, I can truthfully say that the world MIGHT "go 'round" much EASIER with a few LESS of certain folks, and a few MORE of others (never too late to change).
Think about it...
When you have a lot more people doing the right stuff, working together to achieve a better result, or embracing specific values that humankind can put to better use to allow the species to EVOLVE, things in general tend to work a lot more "as designed", as opposed to gumming up the damn works.
We're going to take a peek at some that "do" in life, and some that "don't", and I think you'll agree that there's a lot of sense made here.
*** Item - Komets hockey team win their FIFTH cup in FOUR years.
Here's the link to the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120508/SPORTS0601/305089974
I find the writer's opening line to be one that we can ALL take to heart:
"The Komets always needed a bit of adversity to get them going this season."
Doesn't that (or SHOULDN'T that) apply to EACH of us?
Without adversity is some fashion, how can we manage to overcome, and thereby conquer whatever problems of "demons" we have in our lives?
Granted, the Komets' victory is a TEAM effort, but what comprises that team are INDIVIDUALS...working in unison, right?
Each member of the team can see what the immediate result is when focused on a particular goal (usually the opponent's...lol)
I also find it remarkable that we have the opportunity to see what dedication and perseverance can produce.
It proves they're just as good at winning the CHL trophy (President's Cup) as they were winning the IHL trophy (Turner Cup).
I congratulate this team, and the organization (which has been around as long as I have - 60 years) that is one of the best examples for this city when it comes to a dogged determination to not settle for less when more can be accomplished...excellent example indeed.
*** Item - Four Children Strapped to Car - Driver Arrested.
Now, I've know my share of deer hunters, and they typically strap their KILL to the fender or body of the car or truck when they bring it home, yet NEVER was the car hood (or fenders) used to transport CHILDREN...ANYWHERE...at ANY TIME.
(that's what something called the INTERIOR SEATS and PASSENGER cabin were for)
Here's the story:
http://www.indianasnewscenter.com/news/local/Couple-Strap-Kids-To-Hood-Of-Vehicle-150512895.html
This is some of the most destructive behavior for an adult I have seen in a while...and I've seen my share in the world.
The driver was arrested for DUI at the time when he blew a BAC of .17 - twice the legal limit (as well as tying down the kids on the car hood).
Baby Mama (of one of the kids) got busted as well.
Dumbassery at it's finest...once again.
Naturally, this occurred on the...(...all together, gang...)...SOUTH SIDE of the Summit City.
And the vehicle was seen leaving a LIQUOR STORE parking lot (of all places).
The car was stopped by a U.S. Marshal (shades of Waylan Givens), and no one was injured in this "joyride".
Is it no surprise that things like this are even permitted to happen here?
If not for the intervention of the OFF-DUTY marshal that "happened" to see it, it might have gone unnoticed (like all those black kids that ride around in the back of pickups down here, and can tumble out onto the street...that DOES go unnoticed, along with the curbside street pharm sales).
Makes a good case for people perhaps NOT having children in their care...
*** Item - A Ft. Wayne couple face charges of child abuse.
Here's the story link:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/couple-facing-charges-after-physically-and-emotionally-abusing-children-mre
Now THIS is one outstanding "couple" (of f$cking morons).
And this can be the result of such a "pairing" of the races, not that ALL such couplings turn out in such a manner...this is one of THOSE typical scenarios of wrong people finding "one another"...with the usual results.
I have to blame "baby-mama" for ALLOWING such things, even though she "says" she didn't know about the abuse...
Give me a damn break, here...you NEVER look at your children to see if they're EVER bruised, or why the white of their eyes is blood red?
What the hell kind of "mother" are you anyway, "Breezy"?
And the animal (Antonio) she was shacking with is certainly no "good boy who never hurts anyone and loves to play basketball and joke around".
He's a damn BEAST for treating children in such a reprehensible manner, so just admit to it.

I say toss the book (a few times) at BOTH of them, lose the damn key and get the kids into a GOOD home...and they might be able to overcome the PTSD they suffer from and become productive citizens.
*** Item - What happens when friends run against each other in a primary?
Here's the story:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/local/friends-become-opponents-in-commissioner-race
Now, I like Both John McGauley AND Nelson Peters - both amiable guys that seem to know their jobs and be straight-shooters.
And I have to admit that choosing one over the other would be a difficult choice, as their run off has been one of THE most civil campaigns I have seen in perhaps my entire lifetime.
They BOTH stuck to the ISSUES, and didn't concentrate upon pouncing on one another with personal attacks...and that's pretty damn refreshing.
Because while politics is made up of people (the politicians), the "nuts and bolts" of what makes UP politics becomes the issues and how best to solve whatever problems plague a city, state or nation.
To be a "bigger man" than to resort to personal attacks but stick to how best to serve whatever the public requires for whatever office you're running for takes guts...AND integrity.
Both men seem to have such things...good luck to whoever wins the primary today. I like both of you.
*** Lastly today - The AVENGERS continues to shatter records all over the place (and most of NYC in the movie)...!
It's here we find another case of "teamwork"...with a group that have trouble being in the same room as one another (at first).
We are talking about the CHARACTERS in the movie, and NOT the actors...they got along famously (another first in Hollywood for modern times?).
Think about it...when the fate of the WORLD is at stake...isn't it always better to "pool your resources" to work out a solution?
In essence...you ALL work TOGETHER.
And in this cinematic case, it IS for the better in the end.
Who says we can't find parallels between OUR lives and those we see portrayed on the silver screen anymore?
We CAN come together for good...no matter WHO we are and WHAT we look like.
We might not have super powers, and might not wear fancy get-ups, but each of us has the unique chance to become more than what we settle for...every day.
And we CAN work together as well...after all, it was a sense of individual freedom that allowed ALL us to work, to toil and to build and create, as ONE people...a great nation with great potential.
We should never lose sight of that.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

With names like Antonio and Breezy, you knew they spelled trouble. The AVENGERS! Yeah! Bring out the good ol' comic books. Love it!

I'm not busting on mixed-race couples (as there are some GOOD success stories)...I know a buddy who used to be on the PPD who married an Asian (China) woman (Hannah)...she could cook, taught music and was a GREAT mom and a fantastic person overall...so it CAN work.
And being married to a cop isn't EASY, right?

Also know my share of SAME-raced couples that are more trouble then they're worth (and I know you see YOUR share on the streets).

It's not about race or ethnicity, but more about STUPID...as in "like" people DO attract the same.
And they say "opposites" attract?
Sometimes...not so much...

Unfortunately, the CHILDREN suffer the most.
That should NEVER happen.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
There is a pretty good message to be learned from a movie such as this...if we're paying attention (and looking beyond all those really cool special effects).

Thanks SO much for taking time from the job to roll on up today and comment.
Always a pleasure.

You stay safe out there.

Now your city has produced a pair of knuckleheads who strapped 4 kids to the hood of the car and drove to the liquor store. So many sad stories about abused kids any more.. not sure if there is more of it or I am just more connected. Bobby G. check your mail in a couple days for a surprise. :)

It's SO damn sad to see kids handled in such ways...abuse IS abuse...period.

Maybe I'm getting old and maybe my parents gave a damn when they raised me...maybe a little of both, but you just KNOW that things like what I posted about is WRONG.

It's little wonder they mange to be ":damaged goods" even before they become teens and adults...

Hey, I LOVE surprises...as long as it's not ANOTHER draft notice!
(been there, done that once...JUST once.)
"Greetings..."
LMAO!
I'll keep both eyes open.

Thanks for taking time to stop on by today and comment.

Stay safe down there.
