The weather today is going to be NICE...with temps moving up into the upper 70s after a nicely cool morning.

Meanwhile, back at the weather vane...
Let's begin a bit on a milder side and work ourselves slowly into the balance of a day which still weighs heavy on all our hearts....

*** Picked me up a really cool pair of TACTICAL PURSUIT SHOES ('ya never know when a tactical pursuit will be warranted, especially in THIS part of the ghettohood), and for a good price (online, of course).

Got 'em from the Uniformswarehouse.com website for $22.99 (with shipping it came to $39 and change), so that's not a bad deal.
They've got a nice AGGRESSIVE tread (to fit my attitude these days) and are non-slip with leather and nylon uppers. They also have a removable insole, so if you want to slap some GEL insoles inside for an extra comfy time, no problem.
It's not that I'm HARD on shoes...I'm really not. It's the fact that most ALL shoes these days are made a lot more poorly than in times past.
Hell, I've got shoes I bought back in the late 1970s...in pristine condition and still look new (wanna be buried in those buggers...yeah, I dabble in the macabre at times...LOL)
These new tac shoes fit well out of the box, got the right length of laces and look pretty damn fine.
Now...about building me a .223 caliber "Franken-Rifle" on an AR platform for under $500...!!!
(that will be a fun project for sure)

A tale of "revenge"...hopped-up alpha-male testosterone, some poor choice-making, drugs or alcohol mixed in for seasoning, and of course, GANG activity all make such things possible in the Summit City, don't they?
The "perp-mobile" of choice was a white CROWN VIC...and gee, didn't I mention a long time ago that thugs were buying up these like crazy and using them to intimidate people in the ghettohood?
I know the former quadrant captain was made well-aware (by me) of this trend several YEARS ago.
The "ex-police car" factor and a huge trunk (for the kicker-box bass) was the main reason for this, and it also was prevalent down in Indianapolis years prior.

And I''ve sure seen MY share of such vehicles riding around OUR "fortress" and parking at some of the government-sponsored housing for the chronically lazy.
The gang involved in this recent shooting is M.O.B. (Money Over Bitches), and this shouts back to the old 2Pac days, but it originally refers back to the (Member Of) BLOODS out of west L.A. (and NOT to be confused with the Rice University MARCHING OWL BAND).

The N. Clinton St. branch of the Chase bank was knocked over yesterday morning. Two black males came in, brandished weapons and demanded cash (which they got in a plastic bag - no tracking device or dye packs, thank you).

*** Finally today...it's the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on U.S. soil.
And in many ways...we STILL feel the pain...the loss...and the hand of God upon each of us as we acknowledge this day with our personal feelings.

The new Trade Center area is still progressing, as is the memorial site for NYC.
And yet, this is something that, imho, should have been FINISHED a long time ago...way before a decade after the events.

Still, the pictures say more than words ever could.

And may we remember to be a little bit more like Tuesday's child...full of Grace.
