Well, no rain YET in the Heartland, but we're "supposed" to get some TODAY, and by the looks of things, it's a tossup...I see SUNSHINE.
Temps will top out near the 80 degree mark and the humidity will of course be right in step with the rain...should it finally decide to get here.
So, without any further ado, let's get busy...
*** First up, our Motto of the Week, otherwise known as WHO SAID THAT?
"Learn to adjust yourself to the conditions you have to endure, but make a point of trying to alter or correct conditions so that they are most favorable to you."
And I think in lieu of the natural disaster in OK, it's only fitting we think on this motto.
So, WHO said that...the answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the library...
*** The death totals for the Moore, Oklahoma tornado have be revised DOWNWARD, with around 24 people killed, seven of which are the children who were at Plaza Towers Elementary School.
Moore, OK - two DAYS ago. |
Here's the lowdown (with video):
http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2013/05/22/children-among-dead-after-twister-strikes-near-oklahoma-city/
The twister itself was UPGRADED to a category EF-5...and that's at the top of the Fujita scale for tornadoes.
Joplin, MO - two years ago |
Joplin is sending responders to Moore to assist.
And in a twist of fate, an elderly survivor of the tornado was being interviewed by a CBS crew.
Barbara Garcia was telling reporters how she lost everything, including her dog, when they heard a whimper from under the nearby rubble.
He's a GOOD boy! |
Here's the link:
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50147264n
Talk about a miracle indeed...for BOTH of them.
Let's pray that they both live for a good long while in the wake of this tragedy that has affected so many.
Moving on...
*** A pizza delivery man in Ft. Wayne is attacked by FOUR thugs.
Here's the story link:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/crime/pizza-deliveryman-jumped-by-four-men
This happened to a Pizza by Vito's deliveryman around 2340 hrs last night on Stardale Drive. No specific block address was given, but you can rest assured it was on the city's SOUTHEAST SIDE.
The deliveryman was pistol whipped, and relieved of his pizza, his cell phone, and medications.
Police were dispatched to the pizza place located on S. Anthony Blvd after the driver returned there. Police then canvassed Stardale Drive, but found no one around (the thugs were busy using the stolen cell phone to call their posse and tell them they got stolen pizza).
This sh*t is getting WAY out of hand.
There are already SOME places that simply WILL NOT DELIVER to this part of town, and it's due to...THE CRIME!
Who the hell wants their employees placed AT RISK by these f$cking bastards that are turned back on our streets every time they DO commit a crime, only to commit the EXACT SAME crap after they get out?
And that's WHY this area has lost HUNDREDS of businesses over the last two decades...again, it's a damn PEOPLE problem you have down here.
It REALLY speaks VOLUMES when I can't get a single boomcar shut the hell up, or a damn pile of LOGS from a sidewalk (after 3 frigging months) or have to wait 40 MINUTES for police to respond to all these low-priority calls LIKE noise violations.
Sixty percent of the vehicles down here have NO operable license plate bulb, and THAT is a violation. that never gets addressed
People pile foliage they cut down along an alley...and it SITS there. Others have junk alongside their house or back yard...and it SITS there...month after month. There is simply NO real "quality-of-life" Hizzoner the mayor (read King Henry) talks about...not around THESE parts of Ft. Wayne.
People don't even possess enough pride to pick ONE piece of LAWN TRASH the hell up...they wait until a windy day moves it...usually onto MY property...
This is pretty damn disturbing for any NORMAL people to have to endure, thanks to our fair city government and departments.
But, it's something we have to (apparently) live with...welcome to your unfriendly neighborhood GHETTO.
*** And then, there are stories like THIS:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/local/pd-man-hurt-in-accidental-shooting
According to the police, one man was hurt after a gun went off in a garage on McKee St. early today.
The incident occurred around 0030 hrs this morning in the 2100 block of McKee St, on the city's...(you guessed it...)...SOUTHEAST SIDE.
The unidentified man was taken to hospital in fair condition.
As many as EIGHT people witnessed the event (everyone gathers to see guns, I guess), but TWO of them left before police arrived on scene.
(typical)According to investigators, the gun was EITHER being placed in a bag, or fell to the ground when it discharged (sounds like a wheelgun with the hammer on a live chamber), Several of the witnesses provided varying descriptions of what took place.
(again...typical)
Police said the owners of the property FOUND the gun in the garage when they moved in (you're sh*tting me, right?).
No one ever INSPECTS properties before they flip them...ANOTHER violation.
Police also found a SECOND gun behind the house during the investigation.
No one claimed ownership of either weapon (naturally, because it would be illegal for any of these mooks to HAVE one, probably - they're damn near ALL felons down here in the ghettohood).
No charges were filed and the incident remains under investigation.
You just have to love the bullsh*t that covers this whole area like a smelly tarp.
This part of town gets IGNORED for all the nice things other areas get, but receives notoriety for all the BAD things...that the city has PERMITTED to happen over the years. Yes, the SE side DESERVES the reputation it has EARNED for so long.
And you wait...it won't be long before the SW side grows in similar notoriety, because this human infestation is growing...and moving.
*** Last back to the barn today, I often wonder how the human flotsam that passes for citizens in OUR part of Ft. Wayne would fare if something like what happened in Moore, OK occurred.
I could easily predict the outcome...rampant and total CHAOS.
People would only "pull together" when they were stealing sh*t from someone else.
The Gordian knot |
And it's downright pathetic to see such vermin go about their meaningless lives every day without a care in the world (until the police catch them doing something they're not supposed to be doing).
It's not THAT difficult to dredge up a tick of pride in something, unless you have grown up WITHOUT such a value system, which is typically the case.
When you've been GIVEN damn near everything, and never enjoyed the prospect of earning it, and thereby appreciating it, you HAVE no value system, ergo NO behavior that could come close to something regular, normal folks eschew.
No responsibility, no accountability, no ethics, no pride, no self worth...hell, it's NO wonder things have devolved into the current state of affairs in our area.
Such people have two choices...either get with the "program" (behave in a civil and decent manner for a change) or stop breathing OUR air and spending OUR money and wasting OUR resources...it's that simple.
Our society basically created this problem, and I'm damn sure our society can fix it just as well.
All that needs to be done SHOULD be done, to the betterment of everyone.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

That video of the lady and her dog is very sweet. I'm glad the death toll is less than previously reported, too.
Ma:
Goes to show that once in a while, there ARE stories that touch the heart, even during such a tragedy as this.
I know I got misty-eyed seeing the look on her face...the dog is all she has (now), but to her, it's EVERYTHING.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and commenting.
Stay safe out there.
Some day, when you are far from that area, it would be nice to see a tornado big enough to take all the potential looters with it go through there. But we won't see it, because God has a thing about not harvesting the tares until the wheat's ripe, and we know that most of those people will live a good long life before God decides they'll never be wheat.
Chris:
Truth be told, God and I have had a LOT of VERY long talks about that very same thing...
Every time it rains around here, you will ALWAYS hear me say: "Some day a REAL rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets".
(Taxi Driver quote)
I have to hand it to the Almighty for even WANTING to bother with those who are willingly SO unrepentent and ungodly.
HE has got the type of patience I can only DREAM of.
(that's why HE's God & I ain't...lol)
Hey, thanks for stopping by today and providing some food for thought with your comment.
Stay safe up there.
Tried to comment here yesterday, but apparently my comment got swallowed up by one of the dragons of the interwebz. Must be my constant references to v1agara and cheap replica watches got me tagged as spam. :)
I was happy to see that lady found her dog. Not too often we get much good news today.
John D.:
Whole damn Internet's been acting hinky for the last several days.
Been getting all this "not responding" crap on sites I know were fine a few days prior.
Go figure.
Guess Obummer and "da boyz" are busy tapping us all and finding out what WE'RE up to, instead of running the damn country.
(thought I heard a drone fly over)
Yeah, I am SO happy the dog and it's owner were reunited.
She reminds me of my Grandma.
We DO need that in the face of such devastation.
Thanks much for stopping by to comment today.
Stay safe out there in Cuomoland.
