Friday Follies...
Here we are again friends...end of another week.
And out here in Hoosierland, we're ending it on a bit of a WET note.
Got us some rain outside this morning (which beats the hell out of the rain that occurs INSIDE), but the temps are nice and mild.
Another day of upper 70s highs awaits us, and maybe, if we''re REAL good, we might even see the sun...sooner or later.
So far...not so much, but it IS Indiana - where the weather changes by the minute...often!
So what's say we sit back, get comfy, and get this show on the road and see what has been going on since yesterday...
*** ((...record-scratch...)) Cripes, I almost forgot...
-- Time for: Bobby G's This Day In August History!
August 2 - the FIRST U.S.CENSUS was conducted (1790) and a few years before that in 1776, the SIGNING of the U.S. CONSTITUTION took place.
If you want more, check out John D.'s blog (Nobody Move! - link at right) for another important event that also happened today.
Whew...almost got away from me...
Meanwhile, back at the mens lounge...
*** Next up, and update to the "triple" shootings on the city's southWEST side...which turned out to actually be one shooting, one stabbing, and a woman in a neighboring apartment that got caught up in the melee at this HUD community.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20130802/LOCAL07/308029964
The recently-deceased are Sidney Earl Gates, 26, and Dashawn Jermell Martin, 21, both of Fort Wayne.
It might interest you all to know that if you check my archives from back on 21 JUNE this year, you will find a link to a story about another shooting...of Sidney Gates, who had been just released from prison 3 days prior to THAT shooting (in the back, no less...musta been running away).
So, you see that thugs like this keep coming back like bad pennies, until someone gets it right and offs them permanently.
The woman was wounded in her had when an errant round tore through HER apartment wall, striking her. Her name has not been released yet.
The two D/Bs were obviously into hard drugs, as was the situation when police entered the apartment and found a LARGE quantity of "street pharms"..
Naturally, they BOTH have RAP SHEETS, and since you asked, here they are:

==========
As you can plainly see, neither of them lived at Brookmill, yet, BOTH of them were "upstanding" men in their community...until they fell DOWN dead.
Then they were no longer standing UP.
But now, they can take up gardening...as in pushing up daisies.
Best thing they could do for this city...good riddance to bad rubbish.
Moving on..(thankfully)
*** Wifey made good getting rid of those old books...she actually wound up at HALF PRICE BOOKS and netted about $12...not bad for several boxes of books. Like I said, it's not about money...better to pass them on to someone who might find them enjoyable.
But, Wifey almost got nailed by some asshole driver that obviously has NEVER been familiarized with that law of PHYSICS that states that "no two things can occupy the SAME space at the SAME time". Fortunately, both she and the car came through fine, with just a bit of frazzled nerves.
I knew there was a reason I was NOT supposed to go yesterday with the lovely Mrs. Bobby G....
I would have stopped the damn car, got the hell out and read that other driver the riot act.
It's not really "road rage" with me...more like a (very loud and highly profane) PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT....for safe driving! Happy Motoring!
*** The Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo has lost "Juan".
Their 15 year old bobcat has gone to that great childrens zoo in the sky.
Juan and Evita
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20130802/LOCAL/308029966
I always hate to see "anyone" named BOB pass on...wonder why?
Anyway, Juan's littermate, Evita passed away last year, and considering their age and captivity, both of the bobcats did alright in their lives.
Both of our domestic cats are around 17 years old, also litter-mates, and you can tell they're slowing down a lot.
The knowledge that both of them might not be around that much longer weighs more heavily than it has in the past.
After that many years, it IS like losing a member of the family, and that you never quite get over...just come to accept.
Juan and Evita both came to the Ft.Wayne zoo back in 1997, after their birth in Evansville.
Zoo spokespeople state that both the zoo staff AND zoo fans get attached to the animals there, and it's hard to see them go.
Our zoo now has NO bobcats, but I'm sure that will change in the near future.
And when our time comes to bid farewell to OUR "kids", we'll probably adopt another cat or two...perhaps a dog.
Personally, I'd love to have an ex-police shepherd...all black.
Seems the line only gets LONGER across the "Rainbow Bridge".
Here's a link to that poem:
http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm
Now that's something to look forward to...
*** Lastly today, come hell or high water (or even city shootings), I AM going to post some pictures around our "Fortress" featuring our ever-growing "extended family" of critters.
(and no two-footers allowed...LOL).
That's a hummingbird moth.
Our cardinal keep us "saintly"
We're never at a loss for something going on at the "all-you-can-peck" patio buffet.
Mrs. cardinal stops by often before sunrise.
Or at one of our numerous plants and shrubs...
A Tiger Swallowtail on the butterfly bush.
This is a red-spotted purple.
It's the small things like these you come to enjoy...and actually look FORWARD to.
Not a monarch - it's a viceroy
It sure helps chase away the angst.
That dark smudge IS a hummingbird.
It soothes the soul, calms the nerves, and lowers the blood pressure.
We even have beefsteak tomatoes...sorta
And God knows I can use as much of that as I can find around here...LOL!
Do have yourselves a fantastic weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Glad to see you at least have Viceroys... haven't seen a Monarch in a while. Guess we did a good job getting rid of those pesky milkweeds, huh?

Heck, I've been trying to plant milkweed...every time one of those floating feather-like "seeds" comes by, I snag it and stick in the groung...nothing yet.

Monarchs tend to come late in summer..should be by THIS month, and then they head back south of the border (talk about your illegal immigration gig).

They had one show on where people went to where the butterflies live the rest of the year...DAMN, there was a serious crapload of them ALL over the place.
Was really neat to see.
(sure beats those 2-legged intruders coming north)

Thamks for stopping on by to comment today.
Have yourselves a good weekend and stay safe up there.

Wow, Bob, I guess the FWPD can always do a search of you blog is their computer's down. You know, for arrest history and such. ;)

But I guess this will be Mr. Gates's last appearance here.

Don't be too hard on that driver that almost hit Mrs. G. Poor guy probably dropped his cell phone in mid-text when he hit the brakes.

John D.:
I pften told our former Quad-Cap that I was probably the best set of "eyes and ears" they had down here...LOL.
(not bad for NOT being on the payroll)

That driver that almost tagged Wifey (from the account) was singularly focused on placing HER vehicle where Wifey was...and in ANY universe, that dog don't hunt.

Considering the Missus had nowhere to go but UP (doesn't work, no matter HOW HARD you pull BACK on the wheel) she and her car came out UNscathed.

And for that, we are BOTH grateful to a "higher authority".

Thanks much for stopping by today and taking time to comment.

Have a great weekend and do roll safe out there.

Your yard looks lovely. How peaceful it must be for you and Mrs G to enjoy the outdoors. Just saw where there was yet another shooting in the SE area. Please be careful.

Love, love the garden! Now what is up with those short rap sheets. Somethin' ain't right here! LOL

Glad you like our yard.
Not much, but humble!

S'OK about the MOST recent shooting..it's up at EDEN GREEN apts (ghetto-central)...right near where the FWPD HQ used to be before they moved D/T away from the crime.

MY guess is we're not quite done with the "retribution shootings" for the latest recently-decased.

We're locked AND loaded down here (might get further loaded tonight at the "Fortress"...ROFL)
Nah...maybe just a wee "taste" .

Have yourself a great weekend and stay safe down there.

(tell "Little John" to keep his stick in the water)

We're happy you find our little "slice of paradise" inviting.
It's worth the sweat-equity.

Yeah, those rap sheets were BRIEFS (and not boxers...lol)

Guess that's only the crimes they were ARRESTED for...bet good money there's plenty they had gotten away with off the sheets.
(but not any more)

Hey, thanks for spending some time here today and commenting.

DO have yourself a good weeknd and DO roll safe out there, Kiddo!
